Settle with ur landlord amicabbly. Even if you get a lawyer, the landlord will still win u, cos u are still going to pack out noni even after the 6 months he is manadated to give you, bf u close ur eyes and open it 6mths don complete, don't waste ur small money for lawyer oo

Hello my brother. I will quickly advice you to report the matter to the citizens mediation centre at motor ways at seven up. Its a division of the ministry of justice and also LASEPA inside alausa ikeja. You will be surprised that the government is working.

Currently my dad has a tenant...a criminal one, cos police have arrested him in the house more than 2 times.
He was served 6 months notice b4 his rent expired. He didn't go....after staying for like 3 months, he pleaded he will stay for 6 months and move, gave a post dated cheque. The cheque bounced. He later paid the rent cos Nepa disconnected his light for bypassing prepaid metre. My dad collected the wire and didn't give him..he came with the 6months rent and pleaded to move the next month. After 2 months he has still not moved....the agent reported at the mediation centre....he was invited he didn't honor it. Dad called me today that he disconnected his water...he found a way of getting water by opening the pump pipe in his compound, cos the pipe lock is in ny dads compound...so b4 the water gets to the lock and travel up...he disconnected that part in his compound, then switches on the pump to get water. I told my dad to flush all the water in the reservior out, and pump directly to his tank own from bore hole...leaving the reservior empty. That way my dad has water..but the guy does not have. I wanted to take action with 3 hilux full of soldiers...but dad is a pastor and he believes in rule of law. What can be done in this case. .cos am loosing my patience. The guy feels he is a bad guy and they are scared of him.

As for your Landlord, ...so, afterall, he is a "trustworthy person"...he kept his word!
I still consider his methods too harsh, he should not have put you through all this "heartaches".

Life in Lagos is harsh, when it comes to accommodation.
The Government, with all their charges/Taxes here and there, are as wicked, as some Landlord.
When some Landlord consider what the Govt of Lagos State puts then through, to acquire land and build their house, they seem to become very "angry" and pass the anger on their tenants. Not to mention some Evil Tenants (I have some in the past!)

But it shouldn't be so, you can "transfer aggression" unto others, who are innocent.
Please, letus be our brother's keeper.

I visited the house and already posted pictures of the blocked door to the toilet and kitchen with some other tenants loads still lying around. This case is real and please let us be our brothers keeper.

He needs 146k to get another room and parlour at 4k per room for one year. Agreement and commission is 50k. Please check his account on this thread and do something. Today is the last day the man give them.

I type this message with a very confused and worried heart because i don't know what to do next, I had financial challenges after losing my job in 2008, I had to cut down on my living so i moved from my 2 bedroom flat in Ifako Ijaye to a room and parlor house off AIT road, Alagbado, I am married with 2 kids and we live together here, we are the last of 5 tenants, my second year rent just ended February 2016 ( Last month), I owe no house rent nor electricity bill nor lawma bills.

I was able to manage my home with my farm management job. My landlord arrived by late January from London, Uk where he is based and said i should not bother paying this year's rent that we should all pack out of the house, He said some two tenants who have been in the house for many years owes him money and they also don't pay bills, he wants to send everyone packing and he gave us just 5 DAYS to move, I explained to him that i have not gathered enough money to rent new place, He said he will refund a year rent for me which is 60k (5k monthly for the 2 rooms). I was satisfied because i had about N50,000 in my account and i have been planning to move out of this out because i am not recording any progress since i moved in. I believe i could get another place with that amount. He did not promise the others any help before he left.

The two oldest tenant that have stayed for about 7 years told us after he left that he will still come back to collect the rent, that is his usual method whenever he comes around. He has been telling them to vacate the house since first year they moved in, To cut the story short, I started looking for a place and i got a place, I called him for the 60k promise to add to what i have to pay the rent. He started posting me until i got tired of calling him only for him to surface again on Sunday 13th of March after a month plus with a bricklayer, they started blocking the back door with bricks, he said everyone must move out, after much pleading, he blocked off the two old tenants while they hurriedly move out their belongings, their belongings still litter around the compound, he blocked off the toilet bath and kitchen and he brought an electrician to disconnect the light.

We are now left in darkness with no bathroom toilet and kitchen. He said he is coming back again for the rest of us by Friday 18th of March with OPC to move us out. I pleaded with him that i have gotten a new place that he should give me the money he promised so i can pay for the place and move in there before friday. He said NO, he insisted that i will have to pack my properties outside first before he can give me the money. The people who live on the same street with us started coming in with different stories of how the man has ejected tenants in the past, How he sometimes bring in Nigerian Army to throw people out, How he is heavily charmed, How he has placed charms on the four corners of the house and people started dying until they moved out, Although i don't believe that any evil power can overcome me, i am not afraid of charms because i serve a living God. They said that is how he usually promise people he thinks can resist him and he will suddenly storm the house and move them out. They were telling me with assurance that he will not give me a dime. I am concerned about him coming with who ever he has in his plan to throw my belongings out when i don't have anywhere to go or money to get another place. I do not owe this man any rent, I still have the teller i used to pay the last rent into his account. He has not served me any letter or quit notice.

Please mods i plead with you to help me move this to front-page so i can get advice and possible help. I don't know exactly where to post this but please help me move it to the right session. I need to act fast before he comes in 2 days (Friday). I am planning to tweet this link to as many people as possible. I will appreciate all the help and advise i can get, I can't imagine to be homeless with my family.

im a lawyer.your landlord is entitled to have his premises back provided he gives u the 6months notice in writing if u pay yearly or a months notice if you pay monthly and thereafter he has to serve you another 7days notice of intention to apply to court,failing which you will be very right to go and report him to the nearest police station since he is determined to take the law into his hands.it is expected the police will be informed when he comes around so he can be invited to the police and the police will make him write undertaken to comply with the law and serve you the notices failing which he will be arrested.SINCE THE Promise to give you 6ok is not in writing and signed ,expect him to deny it.in the alternative ,plead with him to give you a specific number of months for you to source the rent since he is no more given u the promised help.next time he brings any soldier,just note the name of the soldiers or find a way to recognize them and describe them and thereafter approach the commanding officer of the nearest barrack to your place

The rooms i found is 4k per room at 8k. That is 96k including agreement 25k and commission 25k which is 50k.
96k + 50k = 146k.

I am sorry for the late update, I got home late yesterday and slept off immediately, you know the stress of relocation. I have finally moved, I cut down 20k from the rent to pay the landlady in a month time, the truck was 12,500 and I was able to paint it and do mosquito nets. I am very grateful to all those who have contributed morally and financially, from recharge cards to N500 cash to N50,000. This is a period I can never forget in my life, My parents are late and no support from any family members, my wife's situation is similar to mine, the only person we have is her aged mother who lives with us and also depend on us, how could I have done this without the intervention of the God we serve through you all. God's mercies and favor shall never depart from your homes. God will continue to bless you all.

Exactly, I still don't know why some tenants find it difficult to renew their rents before the last minute... Op if I may ask how do you expect to pay him the new rent cos u have just 50k and I don't blv you can give him that taking into account that you have a family to maintain plus bills to pay and feeding etc

Number one problem BTW landlords and tenants all over the world is failure to pay rents as at when due.


Op ignore those your street neighbors instead put yourself in the shoes of ur landlord what if he's feeding himself and family from that rent? What if he also have bills to pay... It's his investment so no one should say but it's a little amount of money.

Op you should have start planing for your next rent the same day/month you payed the last one... In my opinion seek for loan/ help and look for a different apartment and try to find something to do or maybe your wife can do something as well so u guyz can save up..

if the landlord is a yoruba man..hehehe trust me ..he wants to renovate and increase the rent or he has many children to give some rooms to....it happened to us too in the year 2009
