Environmental Science MS opportunity Stable isotope atmospheric chemistry Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi An Environmental Science MS opportunity is available with the Felix Research Group in the Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. The group’s research focuses on using stable isotope techniques to investigate the sources, transport, and fate of reactive nitrogen and volatile organic compounds in the environment. The group’s research across various earth systems provides a unique research experience that balances fieldwork with sample processing, sample analysis and development of novel stable isotope analysis techniques. The potential MS student’s research will use stable isotope techniques to investigate ammonia (NH3) emission sources in a South Texas coastal urban airshed, Corpus Christi, TX, U.S.A. NH4+has been documented in the Corpus Christi air shed as a significant contributor to PM2.5 and although the area is currently within the 3-year PM2.5 attainment rule, there is a reported increasing PM2.5 trend in this region. PM2.5 attainment strategies for urban areas will rely on knowledge of NH3sources and NH3atmospheric chemistry and data provided by this study will provide urban stakeholders with potential avenues of NH3emission mitigation.Potential students should be highly self-motivated and have a strong background in chemistry with extensive laboratory experience. The project relies heavily on stable isotope techniques so experience with these techniques is desired but not necessary. MS students would matriculate through the Environmental Science MS programhttp://gradschool.tamucc.edu/degrees/science/environmental_science.html.Interested candidates should contact Dr. J. David Felix (joseph.felix@tamucc.edu) and provide a short statement of interest and CV. More information about the Felix Research Group and potential research can be found here felixlab.tamucc.edu. Information about the TAMU-CC isotope core facility can be found here http://icl.tamucc.edu/.J. Graduate Position in Insect Community & Ecosystem Ecology at the University of Dayton An opportunity exists at the University of Dayton (UD) for graduate-level training related to questions at the interface of community and ecosystem ecology utilizing insect communities. The student will be based at UD (although, there may be a substantial field component in grasslands in Texas) and will work in the laboratory of Dr. Chelse Prather, a new faculty member at UD starting in August of 2016. I am seeking a motivated student who is eager to perform the arduous tasks associated with ecology field research and chemical analyses in the lab, the careful work of experimentation, and who has an eagerness to learn and implement complex statistical analyses. Potential students must be excited to work with insects and have substantial fieldwork experience. Students must be able to work well in potentially inclement conditions (e.g., hot summers with many biting insects), and work well with others in the field. Other desirable qualities include: familiarity with sampling grassland vegetation and insects, insect identification, rearing insects, laboratory feeding trials with insects, and laboratory chemical analyses. I would be open to applications from potential Masters or PhD level students.I am currently working on two major projects in my lab: 1) an NSF-funded large-scale manipulation to determine the role of micronutrients in structuring herbivore communities in grasslands <http://nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=1457114>, and 2) amesocosm experiment (in collaboration with Dr. Angela Laws and others) to determine if herbivore diversity affects grassland functioning. These projects are both located in Texas, and could provide an excellent framework for an intellectually curious student to develop independent, interesting complementary projects. The student will be initially supported by a teaching assistantship through the Department of Biology at UD. The assistantship is associated with a stipend of ~$20,000/year; however, a portion of this comes in the form of a University summer fellowship which is awarded through a competitive process. The assistantship also comes with 100% tuition remission. Support is guaranteed for the life of the project pending satisfactory performance.UD is the largest private University in the state of Ohio, and is consistently award winning for both academic programs and scholarshiphttp://www.udayton.edu/awards_and_rankings.php. Enrollment is~11,000 with approximately 3,000 graduate students.Interested individuals are encouraged to view the following web sites:Dr. Prather's Lab Pages:https://chelseprather.wordpress.comUD Department of Biology:http://biology.udayton.eduUniversity of Dayton:http://www.udayton.eduUniversity of Houston's Coastal Center (where field work is located):http://www.eih.uh.eduTo being the application process (or if you have any questions), please send a CV, GPA, GRE scores and any PDF reprints to:chelse.prather@gmail.com.*I realize this is a last minute call, but I recently accepted this position, and I would like to move quickly on finding applicants as I have some projects that would be very amenable for graduate student research. I will be accepting applicants for the next few weeks, and hope to identify students that are a good fit for my lab very soon.*Dr. Chelse PratherPrather lab websitehttps://chelseprather.

Pennstate greetings! I recently got admitted to LSU, but they've not mentioned anything about funding in the provisional admission letter. I've contacted the graduate program coordinator of my department (ECE)... No response from him yet!

My questions are these:
1. Should I go ahead and send a financial affidavit, hoping i'll get funding decision in my I20/Official admission letter?
2. When do they notify admitted students of funding?

Also got admitted to NCAT (No funding decision yet) and IIT (they said No funding at all).

I need funding.
Happy Easter Y'all.

Well it was basically from individual faculty members who are interested in recruiting MS/PhD Student for a specific projects. I personally think talking to faculty members prior to application is the best way to go.
It is just like the faculty member sending your documents to grad school.

I m sure if you had talk to one or two potential advisor and they told you that there is no funding currently, you wouldn't have bordered to apply self.

Guys check out Grad Cafe for different graduate schools' admission acceptance/rejection history.
For those that are not familiar with the site,
use this link for grad cafe results:

thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php

You can also search for your school's admission status history...just type the name of the state; e.g Utah

I am also a prospective LSU grad student. I applied for a PhD in chemistry and I was offered full tuition waiver and graduate assistantship. I got an initial acceptance letter (by email) from the department of chemistry which also notified me of my assistantship offer before I got a mail from the graduate school notifying me of same. It still reads provisional admission though cos I have to present my original degree statement (B.Sc cert. can suffice) when I resume at LSU. It will be extremely cool to have you guys around there.

My profile is not that hot oo boss mi. I have a 4.55/5.00 cgpa, Gre score of 304(Q157, V147 and AW 3.5), didn't write toefl cos the school waives toefl for Nigerian applicants. Just normal apps; completed the online app, sent in my official transcript from my university of undergraduate study and also requested that an official Gre copy be sent from ets. All the best boss

I guess the application procedure varies by institution. I didn't have to write a research thesis proposal in my own case but during my school search, I came across some schools that require this. So what's up with ur apps boss mi? Hope decisions have started trolling in sir?
