How do you feel about a woman who takes the lead in a relationship? One who can boldly ask her men to marry her? Is it alright, or is it an abomination?

Nigerian men and women have been assigned different stereotypes over the years, a lot of which are negative.

A lot of times, people spend their lives living to fit into these stereotypes at the expense of their own happiness and mental health.

It is to break stereotypes like this that the Purple 50/50 Campaign was created. Statistically, on the Gender Equality Index. Nigeria ranks 118 out of 134
countries.

This shows just how far behind we are. and how hard we have to work to change people's perceptions and help them unlearn the unhealthy things they have learnt over years.

The strivia theme visited Kano, Enugu, Kaduna and Lagos to ask randomly selected people the question: "Is it okay for a woman to propose to a
man?"

As usual the answers were funny and varied, though they went a long way to show how many Nigerians view the issue of marriage, proposals and 'control' in a union of man and woman.

The Bible says -" A MAN that findeth a wife finds a good thing." Proverbs 18 vs 22 and Not " A woman that finds a husband."
Those who says it's okay , your minds have been conformed to the ways of the world.

It is not okay. The Nig guy raised in Nig being proposed to by his female counterpart will mess the whole show up except for few, very few I mean.

Nothing wrong in a lady proposing to a man,but she has to be careful,cos its like given a person wealth he didn't work for,he will not appreciate it like the one he got through his sweat.
