Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by NNBB2012: 12:14am On Apr 01, 2016 |
hordunayodt:It depends on which one you are comfortable with. As for me, I prefer IELTS General. Which occupation are you nominating? You also need at least 1yr work experience with your 5yrs degree before you can be assessed positively by Vetassess. |
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by NNBB2012: 12:16am On Apr 01, 2016 |
ABUkAkA:You can do it yourself. Using an agent is not free but if you don't know what to do, it is advisable. |
Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by pingu2k5(m): 12:19am On Apr 01, 2016 |
You should be fine with either test, though some say it is easier to get desired scores in PTE. Which occupation are you nominating? Is it on the SOL or CSOL? Check with your assessing authority if there is any special requirement for english test. hordunayodt: |

[quote author=ABUkAkA post=44297951] Thanks. I would love to do it myself. What are the procedures ?.....thanks. I copied this from @manmeta's post. These are the steps you need to follow. 1. Know if your discipline is listed on the SOL. For this, you can just type on google SOL/CSOL list for Australia or visit https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/Work/Skills-assessment-and-assessing-authorities/skilled-occupations-lists/SOL 2. Know if you can meet the points required. I think it's 60 points now. This information is also on the border website. 3. Know the assessing body responsible for assessing your qualifications in Australia. 4. Do IELTS. You'll need for your qualifications to be assessed and for visa application too. Find out which one your assessing body in Australia will require (Academic or GT). Mine was Engineers Australia and they required GT. GT is easier and it's also fine for visa application. 5. Gather all necessary docs and get them ready. Apply for Assessment and await your outcome. 6. Do EoI and await response. 7. If given go ahead to apply. If you're prompted to apply, it's almost a done deal. 8. You'd thereafter be told to do medicals and security checks. 9. Start organising your departure. Say farewell to friends and families and make sure your enemies remain unaware. 10. Do a financial plan for your departure and stay here. 11. Make inquiries about where you'd choose to settle, flights, 5 Likes |

Just a few lines to correct an erroneous assumption usually made her for prospective accountant migrants. You DO NOT have to submit your ICAN qualifications together with your B.Sc to get a positive assessment. I always thought this was the case especially with advice I got from people who had done theirs (the advice though was very useful and I really appreciate them) but my wife's assessment has proven otherwise. WE submitted both her B.Sc (from UNILAG) with her ICAN and both were INDEPENDENTLY assessed as being equal to an Australian degree. As a matter of fact we submitted a third qualification (so as not to take any chances) which was d Accounting technician qualification for west africa but unsurprisingly it was equated to an associated degree. Anyway my point is it is advisable to use both ICAN and B.sc but not compulsory 1 Like |

As a follow up to my earlier post, the most important aspect of getting a positive assessment from ICAA/CPA/IPA is your syllabus. Because you do not have to certify your syllabus (as a matter of fact you can type it out yourself and provide some form of reference) you should/can make it very extensive and very detailed. You should however make sure all topics or areas required by these assessing bodies are covered in your transcripts (Bsc and/or ICAN) |

Was your wife's BSc degree 4 or 5 years? Maybe the syllabus you submitted for the degree made the difference because the 4-year degrees of some guys on this thread were assessed as equivalent to an associate degree. My 5-year degree (not in accounting) was assessed as equivalent to a bachelor degree, and together with my ICAN, I was assessed positively. To get a positive assessment, all your qualifications must be equivalent to at least an Australian bachelor degree and the content of your studies must cover all relevant knowledge areas. Please clarify the above, so that those that have only BSc accounting without any professional qualifications can have hope of getting a positive assessment. chookudi: 1 Like |

Her degree was from UNILAG and it's a 4 year degree though she had her 1st year as a diploma student. (If you are familiar with UNILAG, you'll understand what I mean) However like I said earlier if you have ICAN please submit also because course content and extent to which they were taught for BSc varies amongst universities. Also observe that I stated that ICAN alone was assessed as equivalent..if that's of any help pingu2k5: |
