BlackAlbino6:

You know deep inside your mind that Coach Samson Siasia must go with Amuzie, no two ways about that pending any injury or drop in form. The guy deserves a spot in the Olympics team.

The guy is not fit.

I have always known the boy as a striker. Even in the Netherlands when he was on loan with Chelsea' feeder ( or sort of ) team, he was played upfront.

Solanke I have never seen play and won't judge him but he dominated the youth league scoring 46 or there about goals. In the same league where Alex Iwobi played. Different positions but 46 goals No be beans abeg.

Add Iheanacho. grin

Iwobi ahead of Iheanacho? I haven't seen this Dominic ( or do you mean Solanke? ) play but even if Iheanacho doesn't play as the striker, he will bench Alex Iwobi for sure ( and I am a die hard Gunner ).

Dominic Solanke

Iheanacho is a second striker or a striker but Alex Iwobi is an attacking midfielder.

I did not say Solanke is not a promising striker. I am saying the staffs of Chelsea rate Traore over Solanke.

Due to the limited numbers of players required to make the list for the Olympics, i humbly suggest that utility players should be considered for selection and above all experience and talent. These criteria has helped me to frame up a list of players i think are potentially good enough to help us win or atleast create an impression in the Olympics.

Starting from the back line:

1) Moses Odubanjo; Moses Odubanjo can play as a RB, LB, RM and as a RW. He is currently the most consistent RB we have right now. Odubanjo plays for Premier League promotion prospect Hull City. He has won individual laurels;Leyton Orient Young Player of the Year: 2012–13, Football League Young Player of the Month: April 2014

2) Kenneth Omerue; Kenneth doesn't need any form of introduction because he is an old guard of the Super Eagles. His wealth of experience which he garnered at the AFCON won by the Eagles and at the World Cup will go a long way to help fortity the defence. He can play as a RB and CB. Omerue plays regularly for his Turkish team Kasimpasa-sk.

3) Leon Balogun; Arguably Nigeria's most in-form defender in Europe. He is eligible to play as one of the Overage players. Balogun can play as a RB, CB and DM.
He is currently plays in the Bundesliga with Mainz.

4) Williams Troost-Ekong; Many will be suprised to see him on the list but be rest assured that he deserves a place on my list because he is the most experienced among the lots having played in the Dutch Eredivisie for 3 good seasons before he moved to Gent this season. He was sent on loan to Haugesun in Norway where he is helping team to top the league. He can only play as a CB.

5) Kingsley Madu; Kingsley can only play as a LB but he is the most consistent and experienced left back eligible for the Olympics. He was a member of the 2013 U20 class and currently the Super Eagles.

6) Stanley Amuzie; grin The only creterion is na Siasia boy. Apart from that he can play as CB and LB. I think TheGoodJoe will be happy about this. However, this boy is always on Siasia list.

But if Siasia drop sentiment. I will either pick Shehu Abdullahi or Musa Mohammed.

This is my list for the the defence. I want us to replicate the Atlanta Olympic team by chosen only 5 defenders.

Any objection before i move to the midfield?

Siasia resumes with Nigeria Dream Team Monday

Coach Samson Siasia will resume with Nigeria Olympic team on Monday in Abuja after taking temporary charge of the Super Eagles for the AFCON qualifiers against Egypt.

The Olympic team with assistant coach Fatai Amoo in temporary charge stunned hosts Brazil in a Rio Olympics warm-up last week.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have commended Siasia for his work with the Eagles and pledged to support him to win Olympic Gold in Brazil in August.

“The NFF will give coach Siasia all the support to excel at the Games, by winning the football gold,” announced the NFF in an official statement.

Players from the domestic league are expected for this training camp.
The draw for the Rio Olympics will be staged in Rio on April 14.

Amuzie: I picked up an ankle injury against Egypt
By Olakunle Brown

New Super Eagles left-back Stanley Amuzie has revealed that a knock to his ankle was responsible for his substitution against Egypt before apologizing to Nigerian fans following the team’s failure to qualify for the 2017 African Cup of Nations.

The Samson Siasia led side lost 1-0 to the Pharaohs of Egypt courtesy a lone strike by Ramadhan Sobhy which effectively ruled Nigeria out of the biennial tournament for the second consecutive time.

The Olhanense of Portugal defender was replaced at half-time by Elderson Echiejile and many thought it was for tactical reasons but he has revealed that his substitution was due to a knock he picked up during the first half of the game.

“I was substituted during the game at half-time due to a little knock on my ankle,” he wrote on his official Facebook page. “We wished the result could’ve turned out differently but God knows best. We are so sorry and promise to get it right again.”

He added: “I thank you all for the support and prayers even though we didn’t qualify. We are sorry and looking up to a bigger one ahead.”

Group G was left with three teams after Chad withdrew and the victory of Egypt over the Super Eagles gave them the sole ticket in Group G over Nigeria and Tanzania.

I like ur criteria of Versatility and experience. I agree with 4 out of ur 5 defenders. Bt I would rather include Ndidi as a DMF and get an additional Wing back. Ndidi as a DMF on d list would also serve as a back up CB.

I said 4/5 bc Shehu Abdullahi to me is ahead of Moses Odubajo.

Kingsley Madu is currently Nigéria's best LB.

For now, my best starting backline is Abdullahi, Balogun, Omeruo, Madu.

Are those the primary responsibilities of a defender? A defender's defensive abilities are far more important than taking set pieces and long range shots. The team has midfielders and forwards who can perform those.

Ok, do the maths. He started 6 straight matches right? Now, multiply 6 × 90 minutes, what do you get? 540 minutes. Ok, let us assume he didn't finish the matches but atleast he must have played 45 minutes each. Now, multiply 6 starts × 45 minutes, what do we get? 270 minutes. Now minus 270 from 169, what do you get? 101 minutes. It means the boy no play ball this season.

From the screen shot below. He only started one match out 6 and came in as substitute at almost the end of the matches. This boy is not fit enough. No sentiment.

Stop smelling lies and let us face the truth. The young man has received so much unfair bashing. There was no way Coach Siasia should have made a defensive sub when the Egyptians sat back and we needed goals and creativity upfront.

It was one change I blasted and hammered that was wrong. In one of the Echiejile's reactions I posted, somebody said, there was no reason for that change except an injury.

There is no lie but it makes sense.

Here we go with the experience. It is time we reduce the hype we give experience. It was experience that kept Ighalo upfront in the team despite reports saying he was wasteful in camp. Reports said Iheanacho was more clinical in training, yet Ighalo got the nod based on experience.

It is time we look more into performances than establishment and experience.

Amuzie was a player scouted and signed by Sampdoria, Italy. A club I respect far more than the club Madu plays for.

Unfortunately, Amuzie suffered a terrible injury that required surgery. A cruciate ligament injury and he is still recuperating but showing solid form.

Amuzie gets far less respect than he deserved.

Experience counts for much in football bro. Siasia is EXPERIENCED enough to know that training conditions are much different from match day conditions.

I personally preferred Iheanacho to start as CF ahead of Ighalo based on what I know abt his capabilities on match days. I was nt at d training camp with them so i dnt know what happened there.

On Madu vs Amuzie, I will take Madu ahead of Amuzie.

Ok na, let him wait for his time but for now he doesn't deserve to selected. Maybe if he plays regularly before August then he might be reconsidered but for now... grin

SAMPDORIA BOY, AMUZIE: I WISH ETO’O WAS A NIGERIAN
July 12, 2015

Sampdoria new boy, Stanley Amuzie in an exclusive interview with JOHNNY EDWARD, shares his experience in Italy and how Cameroonian legend, Samuel Eto’ has helped him settle at the club.

Congratulations on your new move to Sampdoria

Thank you very much.

How does it feel starting your career in the Italian Serie A?

I feel delighted to have succeeded in my trials there

So why did you opt to join Sampdoria amid reports that you had signed for Sassuolo?

They were keen on me joining them and also I have a good chance of playing regularly with the team because that’s the only way I could keep my place in national U-23 team. With Sassuolo, I also did well and actually signed a pre-contract with the club but my agent was informed that the club said there was no space for a foreigner in the team and that prompted my decision to join them. They later freed up a space for me but it was late.

Don't you think the exit of Sinisa Mihajlovic to AC Milan will hamper your chances of regular action?

Not at all. My job is to impress the new coach that comes in. Heard former Italian goalkeeper, Walter Zenga is going to be the coach so I hope I get my chance and make full use of it.

How would you summarise the two months stay you had last season with Sampdoria from your point of view?

Yes, for me personally it was a rough start but I was lucky I met Samuel Eto'o there. I was always training with the first team and because often times he played from the right flank we always clashed and he was full of praise for me each time I wrestled the ball away from him.

His encouraging words made me settle down quickly, at that time I wished he was a Nigerian. On and off the pitch he was always there to guide me.

We both go for lunch together and he shares his experiences with me and I don't think I can be luckier than I’ve been having the 'Lion of Africa' tutor me at the early stage of my career. Also Ghana midfielders Afriyie Acquah and Alfred Duncan were also there for me. With them I’ve set myself new goals for the coming season and I’ll try my best to achieve them.

What are these goals?

Playing regularly for my new team and helping the Olympic team qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

Talking about the Olympic team, how do you fancy their chances?

We have a good chance of qualifying if we maintain our form. We have a good side and our coach doesn’t stop in getting the best out of the team. He is a hard task master and I’m grateful for the chance I had in the team.

Thank you for your time.

You're welcome.

If u say Shehu Abdullahi has no experience at all, is it Odubajo hu has never been involved in any international match?

I will pick Andullahi and even Sincere Seth before even considering Moses Odubajo

Moses Odubanjo played for England U20 in 2015 Toulon Tournament and two friendlies.
