This is the kind nonsense that make women remain in abusive marriages. Self proclaimed Christians that do not read the Bible.... but swallow every word from the mouths of their self appointed men of god.... and like empty barrels... loudly repeat what they were told. Which part of the Bible ever said marriage is for better or for worse?.... and FYI.... the Bible supports divorce...I repeat... the Bible supports divorce. .....go ask your deceitful pastor instead of being a rumour monger. ... which the Bible says has no place in Heaven . @topic....if they can't get along without abuse then they should split...the earlier the better.

Bless you bro,but the abuse never stops, resolution or not.
It's like an addiction, what am I saying,IT IS AN ADDICTION.

Hence, the onus is on the abused to RUN or DIE. Marriage is not by FIRE or FORCE.

She should know that she'll be a punching ball for the rest of her life. There is nothing that will change that man, and he'll never miss an excuse to fight. That's what happens to bitter men who have watched their mother being beaten by their father. It's a lifelong decease.

Sometimes, a hot tempered woman slaps her hubby at the slightest provocation. When he decks her in return, everybody shouts wife beater.

We all desperately want to believe only men always do it and the lady is Mother Theresa always. grin cheesy
I have seen people like that.

Actually, some people who witnessed abuse growing up DECIDE to be completely different. It's same like children from broken homes. Not all end up having broken homes.

True, witnessing domestic abuse along with other social problems and deprivation can condition people to normalise it.

The title of your thread has nothing to do with Will Smith and his wife because he never physically abused his wife!

Regarding your question, any woman who wants to continue an abusive relationship deserves whatever she suffers in the abusive relationship!

A sane woman doesn't need to wait to be physically abused before leaving a BAD relationship.

Every woman has powerful intuition and knows a bad relationship or when a good one becomes bad, but most women ignore it.

Buhaha!

His law.

I'm getting you.

Buhaha.

Oga, marriage is not a master-servant relationship. It is a partnership between a man and a woman who agrees to be his companion, partner, friend and co-parent (God-willing). Each partner helps the other by encouraging and assisting them in achieving their individual and collective goals.

The minute you begin to think it's all about you (whether man or woman) you're getting it all wrong.

I agree husband beating is just as bad. Most women in prison are there for killing their husbands.

Its not advisable to leave a marriage without sorting things out first.a person cant just beat a woman without getting provoked first nd issues dat lead to fights like dat should be avoided.most pple have different personalities some pple get provoked easily.i once had a bestfrnd like dat so i try to avoid tins dat would rise up her temper.

Stop being an hypocrite OP, your topic has nothing to do with the example you brought forth. Are you advocating for women to stay and silently endure a toxic abusuve marriage just so the World can talk about how that marriage lasted without knowing how miserable she is.

Marriage sure will have it's rocky parts during it's course. But what is marriage of all endurance and no enjoyment? An abuser will always abuse, physically, emotionally. And people will want the woman to stay in such a marriage, for what? Then they'll start quoting bible, the depraved man forgot the bible while turning her to punching bag abi.
Women in times past have been conditioned to endure rather than enjoy marriage, times have changed. If the marriage is toxic and a risk to your life, turn like you want to throw a discus and throw the BS away.

Those that use children as excuse in an abusive marriage are doing a great disservice to those children psychologically. No child wants to stay in an environment where his or her mum is a punching bag. It could affect their outlook to life.

Yes, there are troublesome women, but if you can't cope with her behaviour, why not divorce her instead of turning yourselves to punching bag in the name of being married . But what I have noticed about cases of physical abuse is that most of those men are bitter people ,who need someone to lash at, and the wife is often times the soft target.

To all those saying marriage is for better for worse where a woman is being abused, God forbid, your sis or daughter go through such, tell her to stay cos the bible is against divorce, don't worry lots of people will be here to type 'RIP'

That is how marriage is supposed to be.

Are you serious?

That is how marriage is supposed to be? With him using her as a sparring partner while he trains very hard in a bid to cinch the gold medal in boxing in the coming Olympics.

For a physically abusive relationship, in my opinion, there is nothing left but to go our separate ways. In fact, even a mental abuse necessitates the same reaction.

So.e women deserve double beating. Why on earth should a normal person want to work things out with someone who physically abuses her? Once a beater always a beater. Na only God fit turn a beater around.

And most times He doesn't as He expects the partner to take off her shoes, put it on her head, carry her wrapper up well forget whether dross dey show and tule fast!

That's why He gave you a brain, He ain't gonna be using it on your behalf!

Of course. But OP from what u posted, Jade never said that she was ever physically abused by will. But why is it that men are always seen as the aggressor. What of those women, who are verbally loose towards their husbands, don't you know that, that is a form of abuse, who speaks for those men, and can they work things out with their wives, it shouldn't be all about the woman every time, men can also victims.
Very nice and sensible post, i've seen alot of negative things from this so-called women who claims to fall victim everytime a break is on the way, although am not married but i've seen enough to know that women are the aggressors sometimes. In this era where we now have women clamoring for gender equality and feel they should also be heard, nothing wrong in being heard but an idiom says "One slave cant serve two masters" there can only be one driver in a car. Now tell me how a woman so confident of her ego will allow a man make the decisions over her? Hell no! she'll feel she's been belittled hence resorting to either abusing the hubby or even violence, how wont the man retaliate hence a break will be imminent. Am talking from experience here, ladies take advantage too and men are not the only guiilty ones here.

If a woman provokes her husband to violence, sincerely, he should be the one to run away from the abusive marriage before the evil woman turns him into a wife beater.

the bible supports divorce only on the basis of infidelity.
But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery. Matthew 5:32....
but on the issue of physical abuse, it is wise to give each other space (NOT divorce)until both parties can resolve their issues. .but a man who follows the word of God should know this;

Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it..ephesians 5:25..

The difference is words don't kill, blows can. And to be honest, most men that claim verbal abuse also do the same to their wives but they don't get beat up for it. Domestic violence is a show of strength. Like the mofo behind my house that kept stressing the fact that he was the one who paid bride price 2days ago as he was hiting his wife. I didn't know that getting married as a woman meant selling your soul o. I strongly believe that if you're wife calls you ode, call her were. The moment you hit her, you have lost all justification.

I hope that with this your mindset you don't plan to cheat on or hit your wife. Because if you plan to do any of those and then manipulate her with this your ideology, you'd be worse than those who decide to divorce.

Yeah, it can still work out. Have you guys watched "War Room"? With strategic prayers, patience, sincere care and love the woman can win back her husband.

And men? Why do we always put the pressure to make marriage work on one gender?

When men are aggressors, do they get beat up by their women? No. So you have no point. Secondly, there have been disrespectful women before the advent of feminism so please leave feminists out of this. Lastly, why do you think you can just make decisions over a whole human being without taking the said person into consideration? It is called selfishness and not the kind of love the bible talks about. Thank you.

Whatever a woman gets initiating violence on her husband is what she asked for. Yes , men don't get beaten because most women can't beat a man, so that's where leaving comes in. You cannot slap your husband and complain when he slaps you right back. If you hate violence on your person, don't initiate violence on others, simple!
