90xtr3r:I suppose you live abroad right? Or didn't you hear numerous reports about how members of IPOB block roads and constitute whatever of themselves? Since you've chosen to reduce the crust of the matter to blocking of roads, can you show how you and your elites have countered the blocking of highways by Fulani herdsmen for decades now?Can you show me a link supporting this position of yours?. Your lies and hypocrisy against Igbos are DOA.Lies? Hypocrisy? What on earth are you yapping about dude, please be concise and never play to sentiment and emotion and learn to debate with using them. So you think Igbos are barely existing? Can you show me the Igbos that are not existing? Kindly point out the LGA's and places where they reside so I'll know you're not being emotional. Thank you. |

christopher123:Again, the EU is not a country. Britain is not governed by the constitution of the EU. The EU has absolutely no business if Britain decides to leave or stay. Because it is like a club. For example when Scotland asked to leave the entire Britain took a referendum. The decision is not just about Igbo's or biafrans. It will affect every single 180 million people in Nigeria. We must make sure everyone is alright with this. I know it is easy to think that the call for Biafra has only to do with what d biafrans want. But Biafra is not a Biafra thing it is a Nigerian thing. U are asking Nigerians to change everything they stood for change all systems and constitutions to accommodate Biafra's split. We must be absolutely Sir that it is economically and socially necessary not tribal and prejudicial hatred. I don't think anyone is scared of Igbo's leaving. We do not just see d need to distabilize our society to solve a problem with an answer that not solve d problem. We too have stakes in this. It is our society. Call it a zoo but unr askinus to distabilize it to give u what u wnt. We must understand and agree that it is economically beneficial. Scotland will always be part of Britain, north and south america will still be one country. Because splitting a country up is not splitting a group into 2. There are many stakeholders. Many national and international. If splitting means we welcome american war bombs on the rest of Nigeria, not happening. If it means that it levels any region economically, politically or socially vulnerable, not happening. So these things work together to determine how pple see did. |

christopher123:Of course it isn't done in a room. When you want to protest, there are peaceful ways you can go about it. Not cause mayhem and complain when the machiavellian hammer descend on you. I already said it, if the Igbos want to leave Nigeria, let them come together as a people and hold a referendum and get peoples opinion. Its that simple. If the Igbos can do that, then they can chart the course of their own history. |

joseph1832:Right here and now can your substantiate your silly allegation of linking IPOB with violence? A people who are barely existing and are at the mercies of illiteracy, abject poverty and squalor cannot dictate to another how to live their lives! So far in all these years of existence IPOB has conducted its affairs including protests peacefully including seeking the necessary international recognition and process for self-determination. https://www.nairaland.com/2780954/biafra-oeas-demands-snap-referendum Over the decades the marauding herdsmen have been ravaging your land and killing your people for fun. How many threads have you and your lots created on NL to register your protest against such dastardly acts? How many of your kinsmen dare challenge the marauding herdsmen for wieding ak-47? What efforts have your elites put in to counter the hate speeches in mosques and the unconscionable, cold-hearted waste of human lives and reckless destruction of means of livelihoods going on in the North for decades? Can you show such credible evidences where you and your people rose in unison to condemn the dastardly acts, especially by your masters, going on for many decades now unabated? See where your masters have turned the BRT lane into a federal grazing corridor: https://www.nairaland.com/2999276/pain-confusion-lawless-fulani-herdsmen It's only hypocrites that come online feigning ignorance and subtly supporting the evil of the day while indeed they are ravenous wolves in sheep clothing who commit worst crimes than what they accuse others for. That your folks rarely stand for anything should not be an excuse for you to come in the public to castigate Igbos for seeking to have a separate existence. You shouldn't expect Easterners to follow foolish ways of delusion. Take your miseries to OduaArewanistan republic where you're most needed as loyal subjects. |

However, you should know this is a country where anybody can behave any how. The rule of law in the nigerian state is flexible and can be thwarted by the powers that be. But still, I am not one who stand for any act of violence. Opening threads here and complaining about whatever will always amount to almost nothing. As a south south person who have followed Nigeria politics closely there are things that are very crystal clear to all Nigerians about Nigeria unity. No matter how everybody pretend about Nigeria Unity or Division today, everything boils down to Niger Delta oil. The following scenarios prove my point: 1. Ask Biafra to form thier country with South east alone for a start, let South South Join them later if they wish. You will see strong opposition from Biafrans. You start hearing stories and plenty version of history. How south south people speak Igbo. How Jaja of opobo is Igbo. How Anioma is more Igbo than Benin bla bla bla as if they care. The next thing you will hear is let do a referedum. And ask South South people to choose between Biafra and Nigeria. This is d greatest Hippocracy in d matter. I WILL BE VERY HAPPY IF BIAFRA AGITATORS PUT REFEREDUM TO SOUTH SOUTH PEOPLE AS THREE OPTION INSTEAD OF TWO. LET THEM ASK SOUTH SOUTH PEOPLE TO CHOSE AMONG NIGER DELTA REPUBLIC, BIAFRA OR NIGERIA. When Biafra agitator start making the referedum three options instead of two, i will become i strong supporter of d movement. But instead they will start divide and rule on south south. They will start telling south south people how Ijaw and Itsekiri dont agree. how okrika and ikwerre dont agree etc. As if Niger delta people agree with them more than fellow south south person. 2. Let Biafra openly say they dont want South South in Biafra, Nigeria will grant them freedom within a year. 3. Let Niger Delta oil dry up, and Biafra struggle continues, Nigeria will divide within d first six months of no oil. 4. Another reason North want One Nigeria is because of Lagos. Lagos is d prize of south west. North is landlock. Lagos is d major source of import to Northern Nigeria. In summary No matter how Biafra agitators pretend or One Nigeria Northerner or South Westerner pretend, Everything Boils down to Niger Delta oil as at today. SOUTH EAST,SOUTH WEST AND THE WHOLE NORTH ARE ALL PARASITE TO SOUTH SOUTH. I know some will say IMO and ABIA have some oil. True. ONDO state Oil is more than IMO and ABIA combined. The sharing if 13% derivative anong oil producer clearly shows this. The truth is dat the most important thing or intetest to human beings is economic interest. It is not brotherhood, it is not religion. The importance of Niger Delta is so obvious today. Nigeria is almost dead just because oil price drop by 70%. No fuel, no dollar, PDP/APC Governors cant pay salary all over d six geopolitical zone, inflation etc all boil down to low price of Niger Delta oil. No light is still about Niger Delta gas. The truth is dat Niger Delta is d air Nigeria breathe. As long as Biafra Map have South South in it, Biafra will continue to be a mirrage. There will never be referedum. It can only happen by war. All most all d war in d world is about economy not religion. If South East want to leave Nigeria without south south, Nigeria will rather encourage it than prevent it. The North Will be very happy to hear that. |

christopher123:The EU does not Have a constitution and cannot be a case study in this context. Because the laws that apply are not relevant in the Nigerian context. A relevant and best applicable case study would be the splitting of scotland from Britain. That would shed more light on how and why splitting can be done |

Our oppressors are no longer comfortable. There is no evidence of terrorism in our protest. How can we now resort to violence now that we’re told that the presidency is about negotiating with leaders of pro-Biafra group? "With today’s killing of our members and injuring many with bullet shots,we are no longer comfortable with the presidency’s move for dialogue. Federal Government move for dialogue is hypocritical and deceitful. Any Igbo group, organization and persons negotiating, meeting or dialoguing with the presidency on our behalf without our consent or mandate should stop now. “MASSOB led by Uchenna Madu and IPOB led by Nnamdi Kanu have never mandated any person to negotiate for us. Even in this persecution, arrest, killings, clampdown, suppression against us by Nigeria Government,we shall continue and intensify our non violence agitation for Biafra. enlightenedmind:The EU is a union, so is Nigeria. Nigeria claims to be a federal republic, which means a "federation" of states that operate a democratic form of government. A federation is no much different from a union given that "A federation is (also known as a federal state) a political entity characterized by a union of partially self-governing states or regions under a central (federal) government." Scotland wanted to leave the UK and their opinion was subjected to a referendum which was conducted in 2014. If the UK, which is a kingdom that runs on less flexible laws than a supposed Federation like Nigeria, could conduct a referendum on to let the scots decide their own fate, what stops a federal republic from doing the same? A specific part of a federation or federal republic can always demand and decide to leave a federation if it suits them. Nigeria does not run a monarchy system of government where a King makes all decisions. Nigeria is not Spain or Britain... We should be more like the EU because thats what we are supposed to be. When the referendum was being held in Scotland, only the scots voted. Other states in the federation cannot decide the fate of the seceding state. The current constitution is written to reflect all resources, needs, players of all sections of the country. Any part leaving is denying everybody else in the country their fundamental rights of association by birth. The matter of seceding must be planned in a gradual process. there are others in this country too u know. an cutting any part of nigeria away is like saying "the rest of u can die, we do not care".Concerning this comment, I honestly hope you're not talking about the Nigerian constitution. . . In fact, Nigeria has no constitution. Lastly, Nigeria's fundamental problem is not corruption but injustice. It is not for you to say that nothing will come out of Biafra, a new country can never be worse than Nigeria. Nigeria is actually one of the worst countries in the world in terms of anything positive. |

christopher123:The British have not decided YET. There will be a referendum. Scotland has held a referendum earlier this year and they decided to stay in the United Kingdom. Besides, SOME people believe that EU membership does not benefit them, not all people share this view. What is this telling us...it is a lesson to black man..it has to show us that Europe is far far ahead of us..they are light years and they understand the freedom of association and right to determine their fates. Nobody is treating and threatening British government with wars and annihilation. Obama was in UK to say happy birthday to queen but used the same time to beg Brits to stay and he subtly threatened them...they called him bluff..James Cameron was so apt and pointSee, the reason why decisions on such referenda are not taken lightly, is because it is NOT a once and for all decision. Expanding territories or shrinking them according to people's "caprices" has led to many wars. Here in Nigeria what do we get? Savegry, killing threats and whatsoever.. We have to respect and understand the concept of sanctity of life .Dividing the country will not make people understand and respect such values. Pakistan split from India after independence. Do you consider it a peaceful region? I hate violence and I think that the world is watching us in whatever we are doing ..life is sacrosanct ..I think feds should call IPOB for a round tableYou contradict yourself. You want to be united or separated? We can at least have an intellectual debate here why we can't and why we should ...Well, the reason the thread will be closed soon is because people will freak out quickly. |
