I need direction on how to get an appoitment with a doctor and also a hospital so that I can start my Visa application. Secondly, I have not travelled abroad before now, will this matter even though I will be applying on medical grounds.

I knw d birth center option is cheaper and tempting especially if you have had a baby before and was good on vaginal delivery. However I just felt the urge to warn here that if anything goes wrong and you need to be referred to a hospital, ambulance fee alone is outta this world, talkless of the cost of emergency.

I pray you deliver like the Hebrew woman but better to know and evaluate yur choices right. Especially if you are a first time Mum!

Thanks for your advise. But the truth is that they're not really cheaper when compared with some hospitals in Houston. The one I'm thinking of using has a total package of $5,600. I am actually just very enthusiastic about trying water-birth and experiencing a homelike birth. My first child was VB and I have taken my time to evaluate the situation, even up to the emergency bit and I am pretty confident that I'll be fine.

I'll be leaving the country at 35+ weeks and I'm working with a wonderful gynaecologist here. If he as much as shows a little bit of reluctance before I leave, I'll change my mind and use a hospital, otherwise, I'm actually pretty excited about the birth center option.

Congrats on your pregnancy. Keys to success.
1. Read justwise's post on the ist page of this thread
2. Read the US embassy website for the steps in applying for a visa.
3. Texas is a very common location on this thread. Use the search button here and search for houston. Lotsa mommas have posted their processes. Pick a pen, takes notes and follow the process.
First time travellers get medical visas as long as they satisfy the vo that they have home ties. And they can show they are prepared.
After the above, u can ask for clarifications.
Happy reading and bumping

Momo13 9:30am isn't bad, I choose 10am sef because on both occasions I was denied I chose early morning 6:30am appointment, so that particular time I wanted to take my time cheesy cheesy I got there a fe minutes past 9am and they said time didn't matter I should just go on the queue, I had my interview at about 10am or so, some people go 12pm and even later when there was later times and they still got it, to me I don't think 9:30 is bad, just leave home early enough that day and if you get there earlier nothing spoil. grin
Thanks for your response. I think I agree with you. DH is of the opinion that they have quota for every day lol! I'm sure Gods favor supercedes all the stories though.
I am also worried because my toddler is a very active somebori she will give us a tough time whilst waiting.. All in God's hands jare

I have been following this thread from part 1 thru 4. Had my visa interview this morning with hubby in Abuja. Went with all necessary docs as seen on this thread, was denied for no reason.

Vo: good morning
Hubby & I: good morning.
Vo: (scans passports and then looks thru the screen), i can see you are going to have your baby in the US?
Hubby: yes.
Vo: how much do you think this trip will cost?
Hubby: 16K usd. Wanted to pass her budget sheet but she said "I don't need to see any doc."
Vo: where do you work (asking hubby)?
Hubby: xyz multinational company, and as abc manager.
Vo: how much do you earn?
Hubby: told her actual pay (well above 600K monthly), attempted giving her payslips but she again declined saying same.
Vo: flips thru hubby's passport and asked "what did u go for in Egypt?"
Hubby: I went for training - gave details (meanwhile Hubby has been to UK & France many times, as well as SOuth Africa, and Egypt)
Vo: can I see ur acct statement?
Hubby: passed on savings and salary statements (about 30K usd)
Vo: typed and typed and typed...sorry your application has been denied. Passed yellow form and said have a nice day.

She didn't even ask me any question + na so she just dey bone. She 'drilled' a preg woman before me like say d woman offended her before (kept asking her like 6 different times 'y not give birth in south Africa, UK, must it be US), come deny her join.

i dey pray say make she no call me o but...na she call me (window 9). She don reject everybody before us sef.

House, please advise. I am considering applying again next month o...I'm 21 weeks gone.

One word
REAPPLY
In the reason For reason for denial, write that u do not feel that you had a chance at fair hearing at the former interview.that no chance was given to u to demonstrate your ties and ability to pay your bills.

Unless! Have either you or husband misrepresented before?

Omo the decision for u to open acount comes from lagos. DH was asked to fill a form that will be accessed in lagos if we will be "allowed" to open d account. It not like "walk in and open account" thingy like other banks. It has to be vetted in lagos.

To leave the hospital, you need just car seat alone but of course you'll need a Stroller to push baby around in case you wanna go shopping et al. Also coming back to Naija, u'll need it, you can place some of your hand luggages in it to ease movement.

if u have a car seat/stroller from the older kids can u travel along with it when going (pregnant)? would it be weird?

Citibank is vip banking cheesy not gbogbo ero bank cheesy that vetting sef might take a while, the applicant has to have a very strong financial standing and also a very good job that pays well
