You don't study Nursing for financial rewards. It's all about care, compassion, patience and love.
Your reward is in heaven!!!

Nursing is a noble profession a call to serve humanity and it will also put food on your table.i mean real food. when you are employed the same day with an accountant in the hospital u will pay the accountant with your salary and have balance well cos of the allowances like ,teaching, and shift allowance .if you progress to the peak you can make up to 600 to 650k in a month.its a profession u cant say u wont see employment but will only be talking about how big the pay is. if you happen to specialize in area where nurses are not much u will be a hot cake and will be the one negotiating ur salary especially to private hospitals.areas like ,anaesthetist, cardiothoracic, occupational health nursing.

Nurses (RNs) can earn up to $60,000/year or higher, depending on the state/city of residence.
LVNs start at $12/hr

Obviously from your post above, you re either a nurse with degree or probably u re just a person that is more grounded on what people say around you, without you examining ur resolution.
It's so funny when u regard a nurse that attends school of nursing as a local nurse but you av failed to recognise the fact that this school of nursing nurses are:
1. More practically oriented compared to the university nurses
2. Much more sought after in oversea countries than the university nurses
3.This school of nurses are mostly the ones the graduate nurses run after during their clinical rotations while in training and while practising to cover their flops.
Actually,I can't blame people like you because, the system values theory more than practical.
How many clinical hours do the so called graduate nurse have?,u can bet it with me that its not up to the numberof theory hours, that's why many patients are dying in our hospitals ,since we have neglected praticals and we re jumping into the book oriented nursing that produced people like you
So please don't refer to them as local nurse, they just decided to choose that pathway for their nursing licensure or u tell me what the essence of a bnsc degree in nursing is without you passing the nursing council exams and both the "local" and the graduate nurse do sit for the exams to attain a smiliar qualification to practise

Unless you have a path to leaving the country, not advisable.
Nursing is near useless in Nigeria.
But if you ever move overseas, with short conversion courses, you will be minting money with it

I don't know what it's like other than the US but it depends on where you live. I'm earning a second degree in Nursing. I've where'd as a CNA (nurses aide), and the lowest I saw some make was $7.25 per hour. Where I lived we made $15 an hour. Where I live now nurses aides man's anywhere from $10-$15 an hour, Lpn/LVN is $15-25 an hour, and RN makes close to $50 or more. Depend a on if they have a Bachelor's, masters, etc. You have very few who do it because they genuinely want to help, and have compassion for others. A lot do it for a paycheck.

You don't have to be science oriented to study nursing. I know two Accountant and other two management background professionals who migrated to Australia studied nursing, and earning very well.
