My Toyota Corolla Makes Screeching Sound When Braking by geovidal(m): 7:43pm On May 07, 2016

Hello everyone, I am using a Toyota corolla S 04, I observed that whenever I apply little break, there is a sound that emanate from the wheels, both at d front and back. The sound is so annoying that I feel reluctant to apply breaks when needed. I ve changed the break pad and break disc but no changes. Pls car gurus, I need ur suggestions. This is my first ever post on auto section.

its cos there is water on d break ..it happened to mi i was worried also.. its either water or d break pad or d shock..

water on the break? I just changed the pad and the shocks are quite good.

are u saying the cost of front break pad is 16k and the rear 19k?. It cost me 14k to change the front break disc and the pad. I don't know if they re original.

they are NOT original stuff. and no that screeching is never caused by water (with original brake pads anyways)

Gazzuzz has given you the answer. The noise is caused by substandard parts. I will just go get the original parts from him if I were you. Also wondering why the brake disc was changed? Was it properly inspected? Did you consider skimming them?

thanks. the problem is my location, I am not based in Lagos, the disc was changed cos I also noticed shaking of the steering when applying break, though it has stopped

Hello Geovidal,

Location may not be that much of a barrier when it comes to getting the best. Your mechanic ought to have considered skimming the brake discs if the discs still have the permitted allowance, changing them should have been a second option. It is almost certain that the former would have resolved the issue.

I am currently facing the same problem as narrated here with Corolla S 06 model.

Mine does the same
Mechanic 1 changed front 6k. After few months I heard noise went to my nos 2 mechanic,changed after 2 months,same tangling noise like hissing noise when I apply brakes,tho brakes do catch and I stop but the noise. Mechanic 3. I decided to be driving it like that.

What do u mean screech? Is it the tire to Road screech or another sound ? If it tire to Road screech then your anti lock system is faulty and you need to fix it
