The only way to know for sure is if you directly ask (call or email) the admission directors or prog administrators of several Mechanical Engineering MSc programs. No one on this thread can give you a 100% accurate answer to your question.
Ed321:
Thanks guys for this forum as it has been very informative. Well, I finished with a second class lower in mechanical engineering (3.3) and have applied at Fanshawe college for practical elements of mechanical engineering which is a one year program. MY question here is that am I eligible for a masters degree after this one year programme? I would kindly appreciate your advices. Thanks
Re: Travelling To Canada Part 10 by thesoj: 4:32pm On May 12, 2016
The tone of your question implies that you plan to plagiarize somebody else's SOP, a very common trend I have seen among Nigerian applicants. If you plan to go for a graduate degree then you need to be able to write it all by yourself from scratch.

If you don't get used to being able to think critically and write your own original thoughts, then you will be in for a very rude shock if/when you start school Canada.

Most graduate programs are writing & thinking intensive, and an inability to present clear arguments in writing will make it extremely difficult for you to succeed in school or at work. Also, the penalty for plagiarism in Canada is stiff; you get a big fat ZERO on any assignment or test in which you plagiarized. In some cases, you get expelled. Also, your admission application WILL be rejected if they find out AT ANY TIME that you plagiarized your SOP.

Just do a Google search on how to write a graduate school SOP and then follow the guidelines. If you find an SOP online, use it as a sample but DO NOT copy any part of it.

My sister was just telling me this week of two Nigerian students in her Canada MSc program who got failing semester grades because they plagiarized the proposal the professor asked them to write. Another one keeps running around telling people that he'll pay if somebody can write his proposal for him.

Start improving yourself now, before it is too late.

thanks so much for this answer and would do just that.

You are welcome. Also, keep in mind that it may be possible to get admitted into a master's program even with a 2:2. But to do this you have to put together an amazing application and recommendation letters. To be honest tho, it would still be very hard to get admission with it. Look into uOttawa, some of their masters programs accept 2:2 from Nigerian applicants.

I agree with @thesoj. Many people fail before they even start off anything. When you urgently need an SOP, you end up doing a "copy and paste" from search engine pages like Google. If you need help with how to develop your SOP and how to go about it

It is not about not being able to answer questions openly. Except if you want to do a screenshot of your SOP on the forum or a copy and paste then feel free. The reason i say you should send me an email is because, I believe your SOP is private and if you need help with a review, it is something I can help quickly.

It is an assistance I am willing to render, no one is forcing anyone.

If that is the case then why did you start this thread https://www.nairaland.com/3100796/statement-purpose-schools-abroad-difficult ?

Are you going to coach people on how to write one or review it for them openly?

People should be very careful who they send their SOP for review.

I do not want to banter words with anyone, it is okay to be skeptical and suspicious, but I am not asking you to send me your account number,or personal details . Coaching are tips and best practices that we can discuss and share, hence reason why I started the thread. This is help I am willing to render. People should be careful about SOPs? I am shocked at this because from your SOP, what can I get that would be of benefit to me please?. Amazing!!!

..and that is what i'm asking you to do and let people write and choose who will review it for them.

Constantly dropping your email address asking people to email you their SOP for review is soliciting.

I'm including a board resolution letter in my application but I can only get the photocopy to vfs, and can't take the original for sighting. Is this okay?

The people that have asked for a review, came to the forum seeking to find who can review for them without asking for particular people/persons. If it was the reverse then that would definitely be soliciting. Like I said earlier, I would not banter words at all. I have openly asked to assist, it is your choice to decide to or not instead of trying to brand me in some kind of way.

I have heard a lot of good news from very many different sources, that I can no longer say it is a mere rumour, that the ground is very green on this side.

Now for someone who is already out of the country doing an Engineering MSc in Germany, and wishing to finally settle either here, in the US or in Australia, I can only but ask if the ground is truly green on this side of the diaspora, and what might be the best way to pursue immigration that would finally lead to settling down here- a Bachelors' PG, a Masters' PG, a PhD or the skilled-workers visa program?

And Yes, I am gonna go read the whole thread, in fact as someone who likes paying attention to detail, I plan on consuming the whole 9 threads and noting down tips and pitfalls in my jotter, but I just need someone to give me a little hint, that would serve as a push or source of inspiration if I may put it that way so I can start planning for life after MSc.
