It's a big deal because we've been going back and forth on these projects for over 20 years. There is hardly any administration that doesnt talk or claim they spend money on these projects but it always amounts to nothing. All the people want is for the freaking project to be completed.
Jonathan awarded the bridge, turned the project into a PPP. Paid the first 10 billion take off grant as part of governments obligation to the deal.. mobilized contractors on site, started work on the project. Then Buhari came, halted the flow of the project on some flimsy excuse, now he budgets more money for the project and its a big deal? This government cannot succeed with propaganda.. we are not zombies out here in the east

what project has osibanjo started as vice president instead of running errands for the clueless, dullard and bigot you call president.. what is the positive opinion or suggestions of osibanjo so far in this useless administration (thats if he is allowed into the meeting of the fulani herdsmen in aso rock)..
Clueless administration, but you're getting all your area developed soon.your problem is that you hate other tribes especially Hausa/fulani.

Yeah, according to them miscreants.
so I expect him to from his pocket build them schools, hospitals, construct and reconstruct their roads, give scholarship to their children to go school abroad, etc.

Until he does the mentioned, I still see KANU as an opportunist.
Atleast, they should wait for whenever they got Biafra before they can start asking for projects frm biafry.
Asking Nigeria for projects shows they don't even knw what's next for them.

Don't be skeptical bro. The cost of the the project is #170b and it is a PPP project government will commit #17b which is 10% of the cost of the project and the concessioneer company will provide the remaining 90% funding, the previous government have release #4b which the current government just complete the commitment of the fg #17b on the project.
you are wrong it is actually 30billion naira the previous govt committed 17billion + 13billion now which means the fg commitment has been completed.

Even if they are part or not part of 5% doesn't mean you should twist stuff to mock them? In a sane society Buhari mentioned of 5% would have sack him..imagine referring to Texas or Minnesota as 5% of US because you are from NYC, LA or Washington?

The problem of Nigerians lies in ethnicity and this will continue for the next 100 yes except there is reorientation.

I agree 100% with the highlighted, but not with the Texas L.A reference, we should stop comparing apples and oranges..... America is a melting pot, "State Of Origin" is mute there, Everyone belongs anywhere they find themselves,... Nobody will tell you , you can't get govt assisted Medicare in Georgia because you are from Michigan.

Republicans that don't like Obama do not for other reasons and not because he is from Southside Chicago, Trump is ridiculed for his showmanship & crassness but you won't hear any generalisation of his actions as being typical of Uncouth New Yorkers....

Like it's our habit here.... cool

In as much as i don't agree with the 5% outburst, &wish he didn't contemplate or even utter such, i do however understand the human angle & deep emotions that spurred such...

Unless we will all bury our heads in the sand, that he is President today is God's doing, there was nothing that wasn't thrown and still being thrown at him, his culture, ethnicity, upbringing, educational background, relationships.. name it, he was raked over hot coals..

However, he needs to be for EVERYBODY... what's done is done, no one can move far ahead, while still trying to look back....

Do you know why war continue even when both side are exhausted and felt great casualty? Its Pride...

Buhari having seen what such speech has caused or still causing, don't you think its time he correct that with another speech or issue a statement to that effect?

Yes I use US as a case study because they have and don't ask which part of US you from. That's civilization and unity which I pointed out and its not limited to Igbo Yoruba or Hausa but also to Igbo-Igbo, Urhobos-urohbos, Ijaws, Aniomas, Fuanis, kanuris, Yorubas and all minor ethnicities.... So you see the reason why we need a president who can shun nepotism and speak for all and carry all along..

In Kastina at the Emir of Daura place heuse the words again "WE" and "THEY" "US" to address crowd... Its wrong...else I still stand to say Nigeria will never develop or move forward with such mentality....

Go to the north, you can't be in government or head some federal institution or govt offices without being a northerner or a Muslim, same happen in PHC, Enugu, Ogun, Ekiti, Delta etc..we should we kill it as a youth or itwill still devour our children children....

I am happy with this if it will be implemented.

I am a little skeptical about 2nd Niger bridge. If only 13billion is to released for it, it means the bridge might take more than 10years to be completed.

I just hope it wont be like Onitsha/Owerri road which OBJ couldnt finish for over 5years.

Another problem is about APC which has a way of sending different messages at same time. I hope someone from budget office wont come out morrow to counter this one here.

APC IS OVER CONFUSED... Thats all

Pls tell us the party that is not confused
Let me tell you it took obj almost 8yrs to do Ibadan- oyo road and in fact gej finished it.

I ordinarily wouldn't have dignified this with a response but cos you waxed so much lyrical about tolerance, mutual respect and claim people are being needlessly & myopic ethnic jingoists.

You also have a brilliant bible verse as your siggy so there is still hope for redemption:

I'm going to leave you with 3 takeaways cos I'm not going to respond anymore.

As usual poor analysis from u. The infamous 5% means d SE and from d above only a paltry 5% of d budget goes there. 5.5b for Enugu/Onitsha and 13b for River Niger gives u total 18.5b. (18.5b/350b)×100=5.2%. U can now hide Ur face in shame. Proudly 5%.Truth is nobody down here is bothered with what ever thing u guys want to do with Naija again as we are all in this chain together.

Going by your analysis... north central got the lowest among all the geopolitical zones are they also part of the 5%

From CELE bus stop to Oshodi N5b.

This road is less than 2km. That's another corruption.

The fact that it's in the middle of town in itself adds some cost cos you cannot do it full blast like the same 2km road in the middle of nowhere. Besides the specs for the road is different due to the very heavy load it bears.

Trust me, depending on specs, soil structure, terrain etc same length of road can cost N20b in one place and N40b in another part of the country.

Government should do their part, pay the contractors and monitor their work. Citizens should keep an eye on the projects too..

Good piece of advice to various stakeholders. However, you need to add that citizens shouldn't disturb contractors from carrying out their work. In a lot of places you find Nigerians demanding gratification from contractors to allow them perform their contractual obligations and yet same people would later shout about contract abandonment and high contract costs!
