Thanks! God bless.

On the research part. Go to your department website, look at the researches they are working on, or research of your interest and use that. When it comes to courses, by now you should have seen courses that are listed to be taking by new students, so mention those. For example. I am going for chemistry research, the course works i will be taking are already listed in the website and each professor rsearches are on their website as well.

Hey bro,

I just got 3 admissions fully funded. From experience, if you write most of the professors, they rarely answer you. My advice is,apply to the school. In your statement of purpose, mention that you will like to be consider for funding . Apply very early. Have high GRE score. Then try to create relationship with the department admission coordinator. For me I call every week to check status of my application with the department, i seek for advises from the coordinator which are professor as well.

In short, i applied to 7 schools and got adm from 3 , 1 still pending
u are simply lucky. also not all schools fund for all courses. i am in social sciences and we rareky get funding. engineering and stem are priority. i havent seen a unj ready to offer me funding for mass comm and alsi the professors reply. i sent a mail ti all departments in my school and the professora responded within 24 hiura reapectively.

Hi all,

I recently accepted an offer into graduate program (PhD) in chemistry. I was offered a financial support as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) or Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) with stipend. In short, its fully funded.

What are the embassy requirements please? How can I prove strong tie to my country? My education has been back to back, I recently completed Master in Chemistry (graduated in September) in UI but still carrying out researches and writing papers (Journals) so I am not doing any paid job now.

What advice can you guys give when it comes to embassy in Lagos? so far my PhD is fully funded with monthly stipend, do I have to present huge back statement to embassy?
What are the documents that I should provide or take to the embassy with me?

Looking forward to hear from you guy.
Thanks
Another chemist in the house... your head is super valid!!!
As regards embassy requirements, you will need your international passport, i20 (i hope the school has started making provisions for that already), a proof of sevis payment (you can't proceed with this until your i20 arrives sha), ds160 confirmation page, your gtbank MRV receipt, a 2 by 2 passport photograph, a bank statement and some other supporting documents.
I guess stating what this degree will do for you in Nigeria after your study is a good home tie. Are you married? Marriage can serve as a very good home tie too.
I'm just a learner here too, my ogas in the house over to una oo abeg

Hello everyone,

Great job you guys have done, in disseminating information on the entire US grad school application process. I have gained so much perusing this and the previous thread parts for a while now and I hope to also provide useful feedback which others may find useful.

My question is concerning the payment of the MRV fee. I completed my applications for Fall 2016 and I've been admitted with my I-20 on the way(should be here next Friday or slightly later) and I want to know if I can go ahead and pay the MRV fee this week (like today or tomorrow) considering the site says the present fee rate expires on May 23. Is it possible to pay for the MRV fee without the I-20? Also I'd like to know if there is any time restriction to schedule your interview from the day you pay your MRV fee, for instance, is there some rule that says you must use the UID or receipt number or something within xyz days?

Thank you.

I guess you can go ahead with payment of your MRV fee sir... you need just your international passport to process the payment... I don't think there's an expiry date for the usage... All the best sir

They give funding to communication disorder and speech pathology. Is it related to your course?
