He said he slapped her but we all assumed he must have beaten her mercilessly. He swore it didn't happen everyday and his landlady backed that up. The victim claimed to still work at the publishing company but they say she and her lover were sacked months ago.

Findings or report in this country are never complete WHY?

It's crucial! Cases should be judged based on intent and and to an extent human reaction to some level of provocation.
The police should interview her alleged lover,if he confirms that he did have an affair with her,then it's more likely the hubby found out or the deceased taunted him.
The police/court should take the case as man slaughter,3 months prison sentence+ community service that's all.
