Shatap

Cattle rearing is a business.

And nomadic cattle rearing as practised by Fulanis trespass on people's land.

Is trespassing part of the sacrifice we must bear for one useless nijeriya?

I am not a tribal jingoist and by the grace of God, I would never be one. However, this act of people from a particular section of the country allowing their cattle stray into other citizens' farmlands and causing wanton destruction of plants negates all logics. It even becomes worrisome when lives are wasted in the process. Travelling to the north and seeing expanse of fallow (uncultivated) land e.g from Nassarawa down to Jos would make any patriotic Nigerian ask question on the rationale for herdsmen sojourning to the South. It doesn't make any sense at all. On this particular step and many others, I stand with Fayose.

Infact I have fallen in love with this fayose already...

...he seems to be the most sensible and proactive governor

presently.

I pray other southern and middle belt states should follow suit.

oduastates:
First sensible thing to come from this man.
The whole cattle thingie is only a tiny fraction of overall agriculture GDP . Why sacrifice this for cattle rearing?
The price of 10 cows alone is more than the price of the entire stock of birds ( cockerels, hens ,layers ,broilers ducks) in most southern farmers' poultry. Yet they have to pay for animal feed to take care of their stock.
Therefore, nobody should tell me that these herdsmen ( some herding cattles running into thousands) ,cannot afford to ranch and feed their stock .
Cattle should only be moved when the farming season is over. The fulani herdsmen should learn to make hays while the sun shines in the NW.
Those of them who are not Nigerians must be kicked out of the country.

Fayose is a FOOL. This ban is not effective. He should have pushed a BILL in the State House Of Assembly for a law to ban interstate cattle herdsmen from crossing the boundary into his state. The guy is damn too local and wants to reduce Ekiti state to the dimensions of his personal ego and do vain glory seeking. Herdsmen will ignore this ban if it does not have the force of law and you cannot do anything to them. If he tries it a good lawyer will free them on the grounds of their rights under the constitution. Governance is brain work and thinking in long term dimensions not childish student union stuff.

Fulani herdsmen can lead their cattle to graze on his wife pubic hair in the comfort of his matrimonial bed and he won't still complain

Our able Governor Ayo Nwannedinamba Fayose has thrown the gauntlet now let's see what Buhari the President of Hausa/Fulani and Yoruba Moslems will do.

All the other Governors who have folded their bloody hands as savage Fulani herdsmen raze their communities and massacre their people will all die in the hands of these herdsmen.

Ayo Fayose for President and God bless the United States of Biafra!

They have the right to move their cattle anywhere. No governor has the power to do this thing and this stupid fool of a governor is going to be embarrassed when they set him up and send 1000 cattle herdsmen and their cattle to his state.

Stop playing local champion because your admirers are not exposed. The state of assembly only needs two days to enact the law and then it will have effectiveness.

The governor can take any immediate action he seems fit to maintain peace and order.

Banning fulani cattle grazing in the state is similar to fashola banning Okada riders in Lagos during the height of boko haram.

So you see my zombie almajiri, when it comes to Ekiti state, Fayose is the law.

Once he gets the Bill passed by the state assembly (which is 100% sure) then it becomes law just like the banning of alcohol sales and consumption in your sharia state.

So if you like curse all you want, but that won't in any way stop Fayose from arresting erring fulanis and sharing their cows as part of stomach infrastructure.

Now go and die in sambisa

Pls quote any piece of legislature that gives fulani herdsmen the right to trespass any where they deem fit in the name of grazing.

By your assertion you mean a fulani can enter your compound with his cattle and graze.

You must be high on cow dung as usual.

The landlord of Ekiti has said he doesn't want to see cattle roaming around henceforth.

Your buhari and burutashi genocide General can not counter a state governor on this matter.

So please look for grazing grounds in sambisa for your fellow urchins

Fashola banning Okada riders was also wrong without a law backing it from the state house of assembly. The fact that Fashola made a mistake does not justify Fayose doing same. What if Ambode bans Ibos from Lagos. Some locally minded yorubas may see it as tough guy action but it would be extremely stupid because people will not move and he is automatically disgraced

The constitution gives them the right to travel with their cattle. The law forbids them from destroying people's crops and they should be punished on case by case basis. That is the crime. Nomadicity is a chosen lifestyle and cattle rearing is an important economic activity.

When Northern governors declared sharia law was it an act of their respective state assemblies or a unilateral move embarked by your governors like Yerima?

Was there a sharia bill presented by Yerima to the zamfara state house of assembly?

Gone are the days where the south will respond with civility for your barbaric acts of jihad.

Fayose has declared destitute cattle herding as illegal.

Fayose did not ban fulanis from Ekiti but banned the illegal act of grazing indiscriminately.

Now do you see how foolish you sounded trying to be a constitutional lawyer online?

A curfew is the suspension of some fundamental rights. .of course he has to. What are we even talking about. Street trading is a crime only because state laws have been enacted banning them and giving law enforcement the right to arrest defaulters.

Which constitution guarantees nomadic herding and trespassing?

As I said stop trying to be a constitutional lawyer online.

Cows are not captured in the constitution neither are they mentioned or protected by the constitution.

Or are you saying cows are Nigerians in all ramifications and should be protected by the constitution?

I can't believe I am reading this. So you don't know it was State Houses of Assembly that enacted Shariah-like laws?.You even said "northern governors declared Sharia". Why do you guys make a mistake about thinking elected public servants have ten heads?. Please know now that the laws are the dimensions and bounds of society.

Do you know the difference between executive directives and state laws?

Is it every piece of law that is captured by state assembly?

The closure of a market and enforcement of its closure are not captured in any bill but the governor reserves the right to act accordingly of the activities of the market operators breach the general peace and well being of the state.

Please stop this. You are beginning to embarrass me. How can you ask which constitution guarantees nomadic herding?.
It is a recognised way of life and cattle herding is a normal economic activity. Fishing on canoes is also normal economic activity as separate from fish ponds. Let us stop childishness. Even Jonathan boasted that he spent money on nomadic education and almajiri schools. All over West Africa they can even move their cattle by ECOWAS protocol on free movement.
In parts of Africa, the cattle rearing profession is a tourist attraction.
