BREAKING: Fayose Makes History, Bans Cattle Grazing In Ekiti by boman2014: 3:04pm On May 23, 2016
The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has banned grazing and
rearing of cattle in the state, saying those interested in cattle
farming should get their own private cattle ranch.
The governor, who became the first ever state executive to take
such a drastic measure in the country, also said a bill to make the
movement of cattle from one location to another criminal in the
state would soon be sent to the State House of Assembly.
Governor Fayose, who made this known when he visited Oke-
Ako in Ikole local government area of the State that was invaded
last Friday by Fulani herdsmen that killed two residents of the
town and injured others, warned that government would
henceforth confiscate any cattle seen anywhere in the State apart
from ranch created for them by their owners.
He described the Fulani herdsmen that attacked Oke-Ako and
other communities in the country as “agents of the devil that must
be fished out and punished accordingly.”
The governor said, “We will not leave our lands for Fulani
herdsmen and in a system where the leadership of the country
looks the other way while our people are being killed, we will have
no option than to defend ourselves by whatever means.
“I have come here to commiserate with the people of Oke-Ako
over the murder of two of our people by these evil Fulani
herdsmen.
“I am also here to assure that this will be the last time your
community will be invaded by Fulani herdsmen under whatever
guise.
“I have directed that cattle rearing and grazing should stop in Ekiti
State and those interested in cattle farming should henceforth do
so in their own cattle ranch.

He shouldn't just ban but should ensure the security of lives and properties in the areas prone to these herdsmen. Nice move though.

First sensible thing to come from this man.
The whole cattle thingie is only a tiny fraction of overall agriculture GDP . Why sacrifice this for cattle rearing?
The price of 10 cows alone is more than the price of the entire stock of birds ( cockerels, hens ,layers ,broilers ducks) in most southern farmers' poultry. Yet they have to pay for animal feed to take care of their stock.
Therefore, nobody should tell me that these herdsmen ( some herding cattles running into thousands) ,cannot afford to ranch and feed their stock .
Cattle should only be moved when the farming season is over. The fulani herdsmen should learn to make hays while the sun shines in the NW.
Those of them who are not Nigerians must be kicked out of the country.

So cattle roaming on streets and trespassing on people's farms is OK but ranching isnt?

All these Yoruba APC Muslims are even more daft than your average kano almajiri and are full of so much hatred for this man.

Fayose has banned destitute cattle rearing.

If you don't like it go to sambisa

cattle grazing is deferent from cattle sales, warning they can sell cattle's in all the 36 States in their cattle market but not to start rearing or grazing cattle's in the southern states its not acceptable.

the north is big enough to carter for their cattle if we must tell ourselves the truth. they claimed that they own 85% land mass with the fake Nigeria map. and yet the north is not enough for cattles this calls for problems. they are gradually pushing towards the South.

if we want to buy cattle we will call them and buy from them. but to start rearing or grazing cattle in our land the south is not acceptable.

we found ourselves in this mess because many governors are Fulani a.ss lickers. more governors like fayosa and mimiko is needed.

Someone has to treat the menace and havoc created by these criminal fulani herdsmen loudly.
why using your prevent business to disrupt public peace and another people's private business. Fayose ride on,you got my support.
This is a test and a call for other governors to emulate. This madness has to stop.Technically this will make Buhari realise southern region is not in for his propose grazing reserve order for his criminal kinsmen-fulani herdsmen.#940 million has being budgeted for this evil agenda of grazing reserve.Nigeria,we must stand up against this evil agenda.Using the resources from the southern region to better the lots of private businesses of Buhari kinsmen is a No,No.
