It is just a nuclear research facility so make una relax. I'm sure most of you against the idea didn't read the article.

The radioactive materials that would be handled in the facility would be too small to cause any damage- perhaps it might not even be up to 1kg, neither would it be weapons grade- so make una just chill.

Nuclear technology has a lot of application in the fields of medicine, energy/power, space exploration, etc. It doesn't always have to do with weapons. It would be hugely beneficial if we developed our capacity to manage the technology.

Lol it doesn't work like that. Primary requirement of a nuclear plant is an all year round flowing river. but I have a better alternative, I'd you can help me secure job there I'd be glad, it's been my dream to work in a nuclear plant.

Am a certified chemical engineer, so I know what nuclear is of course. And that accident you are referring to (it's spelt Chernobyl btw) It's an accident just like car, plane, and any other accident which is bound to happen naturally or artificially but can be minimized by putting more precautions and safety measures. There are hundreds of nuclear power plants in the world two in South Africa and have functioning fine. So why can't Nigeria?
FYI we already have a nuclear reactor but it's a research model not commercial power generation.

Pakistan has nukes and nuclear technology. If they can handle it with all their problems, why can't Nigeria? There's very little difference between the two nations in terms of development. In fact the Nigerian economy, at 20th in the world, is bigger than Pakistan's, at 26th, and Nigeria's annual GDP per capita is higher.
