This foolery act will definitely amount to another uproar and tension in our tertiary institutions. Just imagine a situation whereby 30,000 candidates beat the stipulated cut off point point for an institution,It will be quite ridiculous for such institution to admit everyone.I will only urge the FG to grant autonomy to all universities to conduct their post utme exams.I believe this will put a dead end the issues of wrong scores, multiple scores et al affiliated with jamb.

Interesting, but it makes little rational sense.

Ideally;

1. UTME/Post-UTME should be scrapped,

2. Each Tertiary Institution should set its own standard/entrance exams, and

3. A National body (reformed UTME) should ensure that all institutions comply with exam policies and regulations.

With this new policy from the FG, we can safely say that Nigeria is not ready for a transformed education sector. We are far from attaining a global status. No citizen of any nation would leave his country to a Cyber Cafe in Nigeria to write a common entrance examination, not even the nearby Benin Republic or Ghana.

Education is not hard, hence, the leaders should not make it difficult for the citizens. Nigerian students go to developed countries all the time with only WAEC/GCE results, they get trained, and come back as better citizens. In this age, you can sit behind your computer in Obalende, and get an admission letter from Canada, China, Cyprus, etc by simply emailing your Transcript. We don't have to travel from Lagos to Ibadan to write an entrance exam for Postgraduate studies.

Education in this new age can be likened to Tourism, let's drop the Abacus way of life.

Bro, that's the situation we find ourselves in this nation... Many people even lose dia lives in the process of running helter skelter

There is standard for everything in life, I don't see anything wrong with post ume. Can jamb proudly boost of d credibility of some jambite results? My opinion jamb itself shld b scrapped nt post ume. schools should b allowed to admit base on their own standard and procedures.

Another example of talking before thinking. PostUme was set up by a law, and can only be stopped after wide consultations between NASS and the respective tertiary institutions. This government is clueless, unintelligent and useless. ASUU strike loading.

This is a welcome development. Everyone should be given an equal opportunity to education. Both the academic sound and the not too sound because at the end it is what you can do and not what you graduate with or the school you graduate from.

School is just a Platform to build on and everyone should have that opportunity and experience.

Only dull students speak this way... have you written an international exams before Eg SAT or GRE. If you get below the required point, you are going no where. Education is standardised anywhere in the world.

If one is not sound academically, he/she should go for vocational schooling.

The question that you people never ask yourselves is the reason for conducting post_utme in the first place. You know the level of exam malpractices in this country. No matter how well organized jamb will be in future, people must cheat. Even the invigilators sometimes are bribed to allow students to cheat. Post-utme is there to provide second level of screening to filters out those empty skulls that ended up with high scores and select the best from those that proved themselves by passing both exams.
Re: FG Scraps Post-ume by wealthyprince(m): 9:46pm On Jun 02, 2016
It is a good news because many universities have turned post UME into a money making venture. It came with a good intention but the intention was high jacked by business minded individual. and a bad news because admission will be competitive and may involve some connections. As for me i support the scrapping. Post Jamb exposes the candidate to the risk of life, waste money, waste time and energy.

One step after the other we shall get there
#Ibelieve

What are you even saying? Why didn't you use the waec results to gained admission in top schools in the US, UK and Canada, if then nor throw away your clueless waec result.

Schools must be standardised. That's the reason America education is producing quality personnel that have changed the world today. If you don't get certain score in SAT, top schools in America wouldn't even listen to you not to talk about giving you admission.

Schools like MIT and Harvard test foreign candidates even after meeting the requirement because they have standard.

Your school must me one of the road side university. Don't be offended, I just spoke my mind.

embarassed My God!, why all dz. After sleepless nights nd struggling in preparation 4 jamb, only to be "compensated" by a disheartening score below d required cut_off 4 my course. However, I've been putting in my best, wit a view to attaining a higher score in putme. Wit d scrap of putme, buh screening where candidates wit higher utme score would be considered, God is my only hope now.

sometimes l wonder where these people get their advice from, always doing the opposite of the right, so all these cries about poor conduct of jamb especially this years own is not enough to scrap jamb? post utme tho has it own flaws is better conducted than jamb n once you beat your departments cutoff you will be admitted...

l think jamb has caused more harm than good n should be scrapped asap n not postutme

Why exempting UI, OAU nd Unilag......

Well the answer is simple; 3 best institutions in nigeria

Location; all in SOUTH WEST nigeria tongue

Your understanding is skewed. The man was simply giving examples of institutions he knows whose cut offs will not go below 200. What he was trying to say in essence was that no institution must go below 180 in their cut off but those that want to go above 180, up to 200 like Unilag, UI, OAU can still do that. Other schools that have always maintained 200 cut off include Uniben, UNN etc.

Hmmmm...#If the FG is really serious about this, it will be nice if it start in 2017. I guess some schools have taken their P.Ume already and its too late for 2016 set. Beside, I don't think scrapping Post Ume is the best option now.
Re: FG Scraps Post-ume by MattChidi(m): 10:46pm On Jun 02, 2016
It won't work. . .no structure on ground to foster it. The bottleneck will be so tedious. . .expect a fight from the universities.
