Its not only those that have one month extra stay that use the post office o, its mainly for those who dont have a passport office in dre vicinity, they are left with only one option of requesting through the post office if they dont want to travel to another state that has a passport office.
.

Of course anyone can use the post office. Never implied otherwise. but considering u have to get ur BC before applying. If you have less than one month or at most three weeks, u might not get it before ur travel date. Cos the fastest u can receive the passport is two weeks. Just letting pple know about that option so they can use it if they have the time instead of booking flight and train to new York or Washington

Wish you safe delivery in the hebrew woman's way!

Please share price quotes for this hospital.. Virginia bound as well though I'm billed to birth at Inova Fairfax hospital. Wanna compare rates. Thanks

You paid 165 at the passport agency. Passport agency are not every state. For instance for pple in Maryland and Virginia , the nearest agency is in Washington. So when u add the train or taxi money plus the stress of draging the baby.

OK, here we go:

After successfully paying North side via Form A, got 2k PTA from gtbank, submitted my medical forms @ Qatar office a week to my travel date. I felt I was ready to travel

Boarded Qatar airways @34 weeks. Wore my compression socks during the flight and walked around. Was lodged at the Airport hotel during the 9hour layover (my room was on point!). Almost overslept but thanks to the wake up call set by reception....hehehehehe.

The flight from Doha to Atlanta was 15 hours long but I was pampered by the cabin crew.

Arrived Atlanta, was on the queue for 35 mins and was interviewed by a middle aged white guy:

Me: Hello
CBP: Hello
CBP: Where are you coming from?
Me: Nigeria
CBP: Why are you here in Atlanta?
Me: To have my baby! (Smiling hugely)
CBP: So have you paid all your hospital bills?
Me: Yes but yet to pay the doctor's fee
CBP: How much cash do you have on you
Me: 2,000usd
CBP: He was surprised. So you are only here with doctor's money?
Me: of course not. Am with my Master card. I do not like to carry so much cash.
CBP: So you came all the way to America just to have your baby?
Me: Yes because its my first and I want the best healthcare for both of us.
CBP: Do you have any food
Me: yes. Garrison, Egusi, bitter kola, kolanut etc

He stamped me in for 6 months and sent me to agriculture. Throughout the encounter, I did not show him any evidence of any kind. The only document I held was my passport and customs declaration form.

At agriculture, no food item was seized. I was specifically asked for gala, garri and egusi. I said no to gala and yes to the others. My bag was opened after it was scanned but nothing was seized.

That's it folks. Chilling with my in laws and eating naija food....hehehe.

In low season, like sept to April, u can get in jst over 1 week, cos dres no pressure, unlike the summer season. Sept is even passport awareness month when they beg people to apply for passports instead of waiting for summer

Austine lotsa people get called in for interviews. It could be random. It could be they have a concern. If madam has been a good gieh then stop panicking.
If she intends to birth with it then she should go with all supporting docx.
Good luck and remember to post afterwards

Hi Austine,

They might just want to know why she was denied a Schengen Visa! I would not want to delve into how you got your EU passport but you should check US visa form to see if husband and kid's nationality was asked for and what your reply was!

The VO could b thinking why d denial if u hold an EU passport and why schengen visa instead of an entry clearance /residence permit!

Then again, it could just b a random check but b prepared.

P.S: I'm no expert on immigration matters!

Austine2020:
Welldone Everyone in the House for a good job being done here. Please House i need responses. My wife got her b1/b2 in 2014 & traveled in 2014 to the US with my kids who used their European passport together with their ESTA to travel with her as well. and in 2015 my wife traveled alone to the US for 1 month without my kids and came back. But in the same 2015,she went for a Schengen visa immediately as she came back but was denied for no reason, notwithstanding that she was a regular traveler to Europe before. She now put in for her US visa renewal via dropbox, but was called via an Email two days ago to come for interview at the Embassy. Pls my question is,could it be because of the Schengen rejected stamp in her passport or what could have been the reason for the interview? Has anyone had such experience in the past? i just want to know so that she can be well prepared for the questions that might come out during her interview. Note, she has never given birth in the US before or have any issues at the POE with CBP before. Lady G and others,Pls over to all of U.

A) it does nt matter. I used a card from an American bank. Card belonged to a friend. My GTB naira card did not work.
B) paid for expedited, sent it on a tue afternoon n got it on thur morning. This was 2015.
Paid d innovate money with d card, bt sent money order (expedited cost, + d embassy amt-i think twas $35 or so) to d embassy at Atlanta.

Hi all. I had a baby in 2014 and processing the Nigerian visa thenseemed complicated. Got stuck at the payment page where it was compulsory to use exactly the same name on card as the name of the visa applicant. Plus I called the 3 embassies again and again without making a connection back then. Was pressed for time so I resorted to using Tanko and got in 3 days.did not mind paying the$50 diff then. However, since there are people here who have done this successfully, please help with this info
a. Does it matter the name on card used for payment?
b. How long does it actually really take to get back the passport
c.Does one get prompt responses now via telephone or email to the embassies and which one -to follow up on an application?
Thanks

PS: just arrived in Dallas but POE was very uneventful so transcript will bore you in the spirit of giving back. The only thing was I was asked a question which I have always wondered what response to give " why don't you have your baby in Nigeria, why the United States?

My heart leaped initially but I just responded that I was told it is not illegal to have a baby in US so I chose that option. we moved on from there.

That might be one of the reasons, but its still proper to give your kids citizenship without giving your wife, because theirs is always easier without hassels than giving your wife. It has happened to a lot of people in Europe.Secondly, she has traveled so many times to Europe before she got this US Visa, but u know EU people are sometimes crazy when it comes to visa issuance. But all the same thanks for your advice,I will put it into consideration as well.
