Today, i decided to go sell off my ipad 3 and ipad 2 which i didn't frequently use,the ipad 3 has a cracked screen and the ipad 2 was fully functional... so i headed out to emeka offor's plaza from my place in asaba, i was filled with so much enthusiasm and optimism even though today was my first day of selling a gadget in a market like that..
Upon my arrival to the market, just at the entrance, i met two boys who asked if i came to repair or sell, i told them i wanna sell, they said i should follow them, we got to a shop and they asked the guy if he was interested and the guy nodded and said he was, then they said lets go and check if the gadgets had faults, we got to another shop and the guy said he would check for the faults by scanning with a laptop, he said it was #20 for each faults the system detects, before he started the scan i told him i only had 900naira on me as my tfare back to asaba and didnt have much to pay for scan, he went ahead because he had a plan in mind, at the end of the scan for the two devices, the total price came out as 17980naira...Jesus Christ i screamed, he said, bros am done with the scan and repair, i was like which repair Immediately the whole boys started gathering and saying bros "give the engineer im money na"
My head was full, i was angry and felt cheated, knowing fully well he did nothing but just run a normal scan which i witnessed...
I continously begged the guy and the boys there, even with igbo language but to no avail, at the end of the day, the engineer who has been admiring my blackberry Z10 now said i should sell my bb Z10 to him for 10k and he will balance me 5k or i drop the two ipads and go to asaba and bring his 17k,they had already seized the two ipads and threatened to call market security, i ended up selling the bb Z10 which i had and went home with 5k and still didnt sell the two ipads.....
Am angry and making this thread from the bus on my way home...
Will i like to do business with an igbo man again?? No......

Op I have been in such situation before , that was way back in 2013, I bought a branded BB curve7, which was later block by rim, the phone can only make call but BlackBerry service wasn't active anymore even with active active BB subscription, I left Benin to Onitsha to sell the phone, Note I reside, at Onitsha but was doing my NYSC at Benin, I encounter those boys I told them I want to sell my BB curve7 for10k they agreed but I was told that the phone must be scanned to determine if it is faulty or not, after the scanning I was told to pay 10k for the scanning, I pleaded with them they refuse, and the only condition the gave me is to sell my BB curve7 for 6k or I pay the 10k scanning fee, I agree to sell the phone for 6k and they gave me 2k from the 6k.
Well I ended up selling my rebranded BB for 4k, my only happiness is that whoever that will you that phone can get access to BlackBerry service cox it was locked RIM, and all my effort to unlock it was unsuccessful..

Op My advice to you and anyone that want to buy, sell or swap phone at Emeka offor plaza should enter inside the plaza cox there is internal private security in the plaza apart from the main market security that have their office at white house.
Any business transaction outside the plaza u are on your own.

@Op yes you were naïve. But truth is, if u know the shop or/and any of the boys... Then your phone and any claim you made will be returned to you in one piece with even pleading.

It happened to me at Computer Village Lagos, Immediately they collected my Laptop I wanted to sell for 40k for 12k I just smiled and shook their hands. Went out, called my brother who is a Soldier but he is in PH. He contacted a few of his friends and they joined me, we stormed the place and behold my Laptop was on transit as the guy is just selling it to another guy for 48k. Bros no be small slaps and frog jump those idiots do that day. Just 2 Army guys. My laptop returned, I've their 12k.

Op those guys have no chill at all, been there once or twice and have had my own fair share of experience as well, but you know what i did afterwards?

I went the second time, this time over prepared, and it's very unfortunate that they have forgotten too soon what they did to me, well it was my turn and i used it judiciously cheesy

Never trade with an Ibo man again. You've been forwarned. We've had many threads like this one pop up.

It is about Ibos. That's why Yorubas will always control the business sector while y'all continue with your trading. .

you are a He-Goat.
the guys that are selling phones stuck-up with foofoo in computer village Ikeja, are they Igbo too?

I know how many times I was cheated and defrauded at OSHODI, I never called any tribe even knowing fully well they were Yoruba

better shut your poo!

almost same thing happened to a military officer sometimes ago, people who reside in Akure will know olukayode shopping complex in Akure. The man was on mufty a senior officer I later found out. He came there to repair a tablet and laptop. He was so gentle in the face. After scanning they just told him scanning and repair cost 23k. He was like how much is the price of these things I brought self. But it seems engineers in that complex do cooperate to obtain customers. They seized both devices and tell him to bring their money,he was just smiling, climbed down two stairs and made a phone call. Long story short, every engineer on that second floor both the ones that new about it and the ones just coming, wept that day after series of real flogging. They repaired the gadgets, changes the case for free and ended up chopping several lashes of koboko.

op you screwed up! Same thing happened to about a year ago in thesame location. I went to Emeka offor with a clean faultless blackberry curve 7 that i intended to sell, at first the shops at the main plaza told me that they don't buy 2nd hand blackberry and there's a general rule against it in the plaza so i left and went to the shops outside the plaza where i met a phone seller that was willing to swap the phone with an iphone 4 with me and told me that i'm to pay 20k in addition which i agreed to but first he said he will take me to an engineer to make sure the phone is not faulty . The silly guy took me to a storey building just around the coner where i met with the engineer . The engineer told me that he will run a diagonistic test wich will cost #20 each and itold him i dont have more than 200 naira to pay for the test but he continued with out giving me a direct answer. While he ran the mumu test i was there watching Show me the money by wizkid that was playing on one of the laptops there. After the test he said i should pay 20,000 . To cut the long story short i didnt pay a dime ! How did i do it?
As a sharp yoruba boy no igbo man fit get me ... I just grabbed my phone and made and made two fake calls with a lot of threatening phrases which i made sure they understood . He eventually let me go but threaten to use jazz o collect the money ......mind you, igbo guys in onitsha think we yorubas there have chrm so thats more likely the reason he let roll.
