Chapter 17B




Rofiat just stood there speechless, there was nothing more to say as the heads of the two fraternities had sorry looks on their faces, supporting the cards. What made Rofiat dumbstruck was the fact that Slimmy who she had never seen or heard of apologizing to a lady was right in front of her. If it was for OJ alone, she would have sent him away immediately but she accorded the same respect which she had for late Host to the new Arch Angels' Boss and wouldn't do anything that would get herself into trouble with the Boss.

For a moment, she felt touched about the two guys showing of remorse. For leaders of groups like them to bring themselves so low to the extent of coming to plead with girls in her house was something unusual. It could only mean something, that the men had fallen in love.

She also thought about the danger that this love could bring. The girlfriends of cultists heads were always targeted by their opponents in a bid to get to them. But then, these were the two leaders of the greatest cults, coming like best of friends to apologize to their lovers.

Halimat was the first to push Rough away and run into OJ's arm. Hadijat still stood motionless, staring into Slimmy's teary eyes as if to verify his honesty. Then she walked slowly to him and placed her hands around his neck. Their lips met.

Gentle could no longer hold himself again after trying to reach both Slimmy and Hadijat for several minutes without either of them answering their phone calls. He got up and made way to the door, heading for nowhere specifically. He turned once again as he got to the door and glanced around the room. Then he saw it. His eyes widened in shock and fear. His heartbeat increased thrice it's speed. He began to walk slowly towards the hanger of clothes, the sounds of his heartbeats were now loud enough to wake an unconscious man. He squatted slowly and picked up the nylon of Golden circle condoms. He raised it up and stared at it as if it was something he had never seen before. Slimmy was definitely planning to use the condom with a lady, the only person that came to his mind was Hadijat but he chose to argue with himself.

"It could be one of Slimmy's numerous sex machines," he said to himself as he dropped the condom on Slimmy's bed and headed for the door again.

In no time he was in the lounge, he met with some juniors cleaning the place.

"Hey you," he barked at one.

"Sir," the guy responded swiftly and stood at attention.

"Have you been at home for a long time?"

"Not really sir," the guy replied.

"What's not really?" Slimmy face showed his irritation at the answer given. "For how long did you go out today?"

"I went out in the morning."

"Did you meet Capon when your returned?"

"Yes," the guy replied, nodding his head in positive. "Capon just went out after you arrived, it's not up to two hours yet." The guy added, thinking that Gentle had not met with Slimmy before Slimmy went out.

"When you returned, where did you meet him?"

"Ermm... He was in the living room with a visi..."

"With a girl right? Can you tell me how she looks?" Gentle questioned, adding more pressure in his voice.

"No, I didn't see her face."

"What about what she was putting on?"

"Ermm..." The guy began try scratch his head.

"Get out blockhead!" Slimmy cursed and walked away in an angry manner.

Rofiat didn't bother to interfere with the matters of her younger ones anymore. She excused herself and walked away to her room. Halimat and OJ were the first to enter into the house and they even began to stare at Slimmy and Hadijat who were lost in deep passion.

*Coughs. Halimat finally broke the kiss between them by announcing to them that they were still outside the house. 

Hadijat stared into Slimmy's eyes once again, he rubbed his palm on her cheeks, wiping off the drops of tears. She let go of herself and licked her lips, it was full of alcohol. She gave Slimmy a questioning look. He apologized with his eyes. Then she smiled and held him by the hand, she wanted to pull him inside but he resisted.

"I think we should go somewhere else," Slimmy said.

Hadijat stared at his face for a moment before nodding in agreement. "Can you come in while I change my clothes?"

"Ermm... I think I should wait outside," Slimmy said, looking over her shoulders at Halimat and OJ who were wrapped in each others arms.

Hadijat also glanced back to see the two smooching. She smiled and turned back to Slimmy, "okay". Slimmy released her hands and stepped back. Hadijat closed the door and hurried up to have a change of clothing.

Gentle for sometime kept on driving straight down the road without making up his mind on where he was headed to. Then he thought of Slimmy's possible destination, if Hadijat was really his visitor and a fight had happened between them, it was possible that Slimmy had gone to Hadijat's house. But for what? He asked himself. To apologize? The Slimmy he knew would never apologize to anyone easily especially girls when he had enough of them. Even if Slimmy had now enlisted her into his new list of sex machines, he would never apologize to her for anything. But for some reasons, he still felt the urge to drive to Hadijat's house. He took the next U-turn and faced the direction.

Slimmy climbed down the balcony slowly, rolling his car keys in his hand. He cleaned his eyes with his bare palm and sniffed in. He took a deep breath as he stepped on the interlocked bricked floor. He then turned around to observe the whole building for the first time. It was a building of two flats, the girls had their main entrance at the front while the other flat's entrance was by the side.

He proceeded out of the gate and went to sit in his car, he wind down the window glasses and released the driver's seat to relax his back.

In ten minutes time, Hadijat arrived and entered into the front seat with him. He noticed her new look in the blue long gown. He smiled to himself on thinking that she has purposely worn something less revealing this time to prevent him from lusting after her body. He started the car engine and drove off in silence. The silence was somewhat awkward. They also avoided meeting each other's gaze.

Gentle began to notice something familiar as he approached the girl's house. Then he became sure of what he saw, their second car which Slimmy had taken out of the house. The taillights of the car came on and off, then the car moved before Gentle came closer.

His head began to pound heavily as he saw Slimmy drive off with the girl seated at the front with him.

Slimmy never loved her at first and am not sure if he really does now but what makes him come to his senses it d way d girl acted which really makes slimmy respected her. but am sure wit time it will make slimmy love her and stay loyal

Gentle began to notice something familiar as he approached the Hadijat's house. Then he became sure of what he saw, their second car which Slimmy had taken out of the house. The rear lights of the car came on and off, then the car moved before Gentle came closer.

His head began to pound heavily as he saw Slimmy drive off with Hadijat seated at the front.


He decided to follow them behind, he made sure to keep a reasonable distance because he knows fully well that Slimmy was going to spot him if he doesn't keep enough distance. He followed them and saw as Slimmy pulled in front of Annie's Restaurant which happens to be one of the most expensive restaurants in town. He further reduced the speed of his car as he got closer to the restaurant, as he drove by slowly he saw vividly as Slimmy and Hadijat held each other and had their lips intertwined. Just as he was driving pass, Slimmy raised his head and saw Gentle driving pass and staring at them, Hadijat also turned around and saw Gentle staring as he drove away.

"Sh.t" Slimmy cussed.

"That was going to happen sooner or later" Hadijat trying to hold Slimmy's hands.

"Did my brother ever asked you out or ever told you that he loves you" Slimmy asked.

"Yes he did"

"Sh.t" Slimmy cussed again "Get inside the car right now" Slimmy reversed out of Annie's Restaurant and followed his brother. After driving for few minutes he got home but didn't bother parking the car inside, he just left the car outside with Hadijat in it and ran inside the Arch Angel's mansion.

He ran straight into Gentle's room only to meet Gentle packing his clothes in a luggage back.

"What do you think you are doing Bro" Slimmy moved closer to Gentle "Why are you packing your bags".

Gentle didn't even act like someone was talking to him as he continued packing clothes into his bag.

"Gentle, we can talk this through. You never told me you love Hadijat, remember I kept on asking you if you love her but you never told me anything"

"Ohh stop spitting nonsense Slimmy, you know me better than anyone and am sure you know that I love that girl but if that's what you tell yourself in order to ease your conscience from pricking you, then keep on lying to yourself" Gentle shouted onto of his voice.

"Even at that Gentle you can't leave this place, this is our home, you don't have to leave"

"Watch me" Gentle zipped up the bag and drag it as he made for d door.

"As your first man I command you to stay" Slimmy said.

"Go to hell Slimmy" Gentle left the house.

Slimmy fell to the ground as he watched his brother left in anger, never before has he spoken to him like that, never before have they had such a serious dispute, never before has he placed anyone or anything over his beloved brother. A tear dropped in his eyes as he felt helpless, he wiped of his face and ran outside to see if he could still stop Gentle from leaving.

Slimmy ran outside and Nazaretha followed behind, they only got outside in time to see Gentle drive away.

"Wetin dey happen Slimmy" Nazaretha asked.

"Omo I no even understand too o" Slimmy scratching his head.

"Why Gentle go just carry hin kaya and leave just like that, something is not right"

"Make I sharply drop this babe for her side, I go yian you everything when I come back" Slimmy joined Hadijat in the car and drove away.

"I hope it's not what an thinking, did Gentle just leave because we are dating" Hadijat asked but got no response from Slimmy, instead he drove her home in total silence. In no time they got to Hadijat's apartment.


"Won't you even tell me what's happening, did Gentle leave because of me?" Hadijat about to alight from the car.

"Don't worry yourself babe, just rest easy" Slimmy planted a kiss on her lips and watched as Hadijat entered into her compound.




"And the new lover girl is back" Halimat joked as Hadijat entered into the lounge.

"Halimat what's up" Hadijat hailed dryly.

"Nothing much, you don't seem to happy" Halimat

"Don't tell me your first date was a mess" Rofiat asked as she joined them in the lounge.

"More than a mess" Hadijat replied.

"Did he try to have you on a first date" Halimat asked.

"That would have been better" Hadijat

"So what happened" Halimat

"Gentle saw us"

"And so" Rofiat

"Gentle is into me, he has been asking me to date him" Hadijat explained.

"And you still went ahead to date his twin brother" Rofiat exclaimed.


"It's Slimmy I love" Hadijat.

"So what happened when he saw you guys, how did he take it? " Halimat.

"He packed out of the mansion" Hadijat

"You are kidding right" Rofiat exclaimed again.

In an uncompleted building in the middle of no where, a young man could be seen smoking and drinking simultaneously. After some minutes he picked up his phone and dialled a number.

"Hello" he said into the phone after the call was connected.

"How far" the call recipient replied.

"I dey, I hope you are still on top of the situation"

"Yeah, I just got news that he had a fight with his brother and moved his things out but you don get idea on how to bring him down?" the recipient replied.

"I haven't come up with anything yet but very soon I will" the caller said.

"Bro we have to do something, we can't just stay low like this, we need to act" the recipient.

"Which is why am calling you right now, tell your boys to keep their eyes on him, I want to know what he does at every moment of the day" the caller.

"Okay, I hope we will act fast though" the recipient.

"We will bro, we will act very soon just continue to lay low for now" the caller laughed hysterically and dropped the call. He then got up from where he was sitting, light up the weed in his mouth that the wind had blown off, then picked up the bottle of liquor from the ground, gulped down all the contents of the bottle and then threw the bottle towards the wall.

"I promised you that I will show you the stuff am made up of and am about to fulfil that promise, ohhh you won't even know what hits you" He roared.

**Monday morning**

Gentle strapped the bag to his back after putting into it the laptop, he took a glance around the room to see if he had forgotten anything before he proceeded out of the room. He almost bumped into Roy as he stepped out of the room.

"Roy," he called with a smile.

"Gentle," Roy smiled back and stopped. "You're going for lectures?"

"No not this morning, I need to do something online and I need the school Wi-Fi. It's not so strong here." Gentle replied.

"Okay bro, but are you in a hurry?" Roy asked in a serious tone.

"Ermm... No," Gentle answered, returning the serious tone. "Is there any problem?"

"Nothing really, but Slimmy called." Roy stated.

Gentle hissed and shook his head, uninterested in any conversation about Slimmy. He tried to move forward but Roy blocked his way.

"You still have not told me what happened between you both, I never heard of you guys quarreling before." Roy questioned.

"Bro, Slimmy has backstabbed me. It's not something I wish to talk about, maybe I'll talk to you about it after I solve it, in my own way."

"Bro, you gotta let it out to me. You can't keep it all to yourself," Roy insisted.

"No, let me take care of Slimmy by myself first. I'll tell you after I resolve the whole issue." Gentle maintained.

Roy shook his head at Gentle's obstinacy. "So you're planning to resolve the feud with him before you return to the mansion?"

"Who told you I was planning to return there?" Gentle asked nonchalantly and pressed his way forward.

Roy turned back to stop him, "you only told me he took something from you, what did he take from you?"

Gentle turned back, "I've given her to already, he can do whatever the f**k he wants with her."

"Oh!" Roy widened his eyes. "So it's all about a girl?"

Gentle hissed and without answering the question, proceeded to the living room. He picked up his phone from one of the settees and dipped it into his pocket before walking out of the house.

Roy stared at him as he walked out, wondering if he hadn't made the wrong choice to accommodate Gentle in his apartment. He wouldn't want troubles from Slimmy or any other member of the Arch Angels.

Roy had been friends with Slimmy, Gentle and the late Fabio right from their hundred level days. He stayed at the same hostel block with them and he was also in the same department as Slimmy.

**later that evening **

"What's up love?" Slimmy asked as Hadijat rolled from her seat to his sofa and sat in between. His eyes drifted to her skirt which rolled up and she rested her back on his chest. He licked his lips as he sighted her thighs. Although he wasn't in a hurry to have her anymore, her whole body still looked very attractive to him.

"I'm good, been missing you all day." Hadijat said in a romantic tone, taking in a deep breath after.

"Hmm, I see." Slimmy chuckled and placed a kiss on her forehead after which he wrapped his hands around her body. "How was lectures today?"

"Wonderful, how was yours?" Hadijat replied, turning to look into his face.

"Hmm..." Slimmy gave a sigh, thinking of which answer was appropriate enough for the question since he doesn't go for lectures frequently.

"You didn't go?" Hadijat asked, noticing the uneasiness on his face.

"Yes, was busy with some things." Slimmy answered, still trying to come up with a better lie. Hadijat seemed to him like a responsible girl especially after what happened on his first trial to sleep with her. He only wondered why she was in love with him, he didn't think she would like or enjoy the kind of life he lived.

"What's were you busy with?" Hadijat asked with deep concern heard in her voice.

"Ermm... Truth is, I only tried to find Gentle. I haven't heard from him since he left home that night."

"What?" Hadijat asked staring blankly at his eyes, she shifted away from his laps and squatted before him, placing her hands on his knees.

"Yeah, he refused to answer my calls nor did he reply any message I sent him personally or through the other guys." Slimmy spoke in a sad tone.

Hadijat got up and turned her back at Slimmy, she folded her arms and took in a deep breath. "I'm sorry," she said in a soft voice.

"Huh?" Slimmy got up and stood right behind her. He placed his hands on her shoulders and made her turn to face him.

"I'm sorry for causing this between you and your brother," Hadijat said again, her face showed remorse.

"You don't need to be," Slimmy rubbed his palms on her face. "It was bound to happen, it wasn't your fault that you couldn't love him back."

Hadijat stared into Slimmy's eyes still folding her arms, she pouted her lips and blinked her eyes severally. She turned away from Slimmy again. "But you guys have never had a fight until I came in."

"That's wrong," Slimmy cut in. "Really wrong, we use to have disagreements on other issues too."

"But you've been living here for some years now without any issue," Hadijat insisted. "I hate to be the cause of disagreements or quarrels between friends, talk more of brothers."

Slimmy remained silent for a while and wrapped his hands around her waist, she turned to face him and kept staring at his face in silence, her eyes blinking in remorse. "You know what? I and Gentle have our way of solving our differences, let's stop talking about it. It'll surely pass away." Slimmy finally spoke, he wasn't enjoying the tensed atmosphere around them.

Hadijat gave him a kind of "I hope so" look. She placed her palm on his chest, she could feel his heartbeat. To her it felt like his heart was making a drum beat to a popular Nigerian love song, she began to sing the song in her mind to follow the beat of his heart.

As if Slimmy knew what was going on in her mind, he began to move slowly, carrying her along as they danced to the imaginary song. They continued to stare into each other's eyes for several minutes until Slimmy took a step further. He moved his head closer to hers, their lips were just a centimeter apart. Then she completed the process and their lips intertwined.
