I need an advise from you guys, I applied to two schools which am waiting for reply from them, one of the school told me I am exempted from taking an English test just because my Bachelor Degree was taught in English, while the second school told me I will take their own English test when I arrive, Is it mandatory to present an English test at the Embassy when applying for visa.

It's Normal for some Universities to waive the English Proficiency requirement for peculiar students. However, having standardized test results my increase your chances of securing assistantship or funding. Secondly, some VO's may never ask about that, go back a few pages and read the transcripts other students have posted, sometimes, the VO may want to see test scores, and being able to present competitive scores may favor you in that situation.

Please i need advice , I would be going to the embassy on the 12th. Got admitted to Southern illinois university for master in Agribusiness Economics. I had my bsc in june 2013, served from march 2014 to april 2015 and since then i have been working with my aunt. It isn't a paid job that comes with monthly salary but other benefits. I am wondering if that would not cause a problem,my aunt that i am with is my sponsor as well. Moreso I used her name as my guardian while filling the sponsorship for for the school but the bank statement is in her company name. Please i need advice from gurus on her . Thanks in anticipation

First, the question about how much you earn on your current Job is a simple one. If you get paid in Comissions with each completed transaction, simply calculate how much (on the average) you get every month from that. That becomes your monthly pay.
To your Second Question, Most VO's are not interested in your bank Statement, they rarely have time to look at them. It is still very advisable to have them handy. When Presenting account statements bearing a company's name, you should also take the CAC registration forms showing the names of the director(s), which I guess should be your Aunt? And a Letter of Sponsorship, on her company's letterhead stationery, stating your relationship to her, and How she plans to pay for your education in the USA

Boss WALLSPRING i greet you specially you're doing an excellent job for us here...
@Daodudavid: Oga boss you need to learn to make research on your own and ask relevant questions no one will do everything for you besides even if they do there's no fulfillment in it...
to clarify things up TROY grants admission without TOEFL OR IELTS what so ever. but i will be writing IELTS soon for VISA purposes its very important okay?
THANKS....
Thanks man noted I am currently on it..

Nah me hail you pass..

I am not saying he can't get admission without toefl or ielts with Troy but the kind of admission will be conditional admission. Is that a real admission

If Troy granted student admission without toefl or ielts, do you know the outcome and what the person will do when he gets to Troy?

The person will start English class and waste his/her money worth over $5000 for English class that (s)he will use just less than $250 to wrote toefl or ielts..

The last Troy i20 I saw few weeks or a month again that Troy gave admission to the person without toefl or ielts but even with low SAT score, it was written on the remarks there that student not English proficient which means the student will start English class before starting his/her dream course and also stated on the I20 that the student will do English courses before starting business administration.

Sir, if you are the applicant, kindly please go and write toefl or ielts so that you won't waste that kind of amount for a semester when you get to Troy, also check the remarks on your i20 as well..

With what you posted it say no exemption for ielts or toefl meaning they can't exempt the test as requirement.. The admission given to you is the analysis of what I stated above..

Lemme assume VO ask such applicant what course will you do when you get to school and he started saying CS111- Introduction computer, CS113- introduction to programme while on the i20 is stated student not English proficient that is (s)he will start English classes, don't you think that is automatic visa delay
now I get the point clearly Mr walspring... thanks sir

If you're going for a master program, always ask the school to waive English test for you. Most times they will agree.

guy if u don't want to regret when ur here u better write TOefl and SAT before coming,Troy is one tough school when it comes to English proficiency test and standardize exams..except u have cash to waste,a lot of guys that weren't aware came here and are still in ESL class for more than 1year,imagine the money and time wasted, tuition for ESL is about $4k not to talk of feeding, accommodation and what have u..Just to prove further how Troy university is,they even mandate students after writing and passing these tests to still write another entrance test which comprises of maths,English and general studies..anyway the choice is urs..ur visa is just a phase among a whole lot..Peace

If they are so strict
You have to wonder how many students they have had in the past that have problems with English.

Thank u.. But there's no looking back now. I've already been admitted into this community college. And I have couple or more weeks for interview. Plz help out. My SSCE dated 2002..i could make VO know I've been working in my father's company after all these yrs. If I don't have to make them know I've past thru a University here. Plz your advice.. .do u think I stand a chance?

Bro, you ought to have come here to seek for advice before applying to the school. Now, according to you, you wrote YOUR SSCE in 2002. So if I guess your age now, you should be around age 30. Now, don't you think you are old to be applying for admission into a college?. I believe you ought to have considered Graduate Admission instead. Finally, only the Grace and mercy of God will help you to secure the F1 visa, because of the mode of your admission and age.

You are going to US for a degree lower than the one you already have in Nigeria. Even if you want to hide it, do you think 15 years at home is a good sign of academically ok student? Not to even talk about wanting to go to community college after that long idleness. VOs are not _fools. Don't look back when you still have time to amend the impending disaster. It takes only one interview session to get record messed up at the embassy.

Hi guys,
If you are flying with Emirates from Lagos to Dubai to wherever place
you are going to in the US, EK 782 has been suspended from the
1st of July (The flight leaves Lagos around 9pm usually). EK 784, the other
flight leaves Lagos around 2pm.
You should contact either your travel agent to rebook you on the other flight or Emirates directly.
You can also be rebooked to EK 786 that leaves Nigeria from Abuja in the night.
You can follow Emirates on Facebook and send them messages via this medium.
This is how I resolved mine.

Good luck!

You can get visa with community college but do u know how hard it is.... u might want to look back and think it through

That not true, getting a visa to a College is not hard it, its the same process as a Uni, truth is that it just rear many applicant chooses university over CC, so far the it accredited you'll be granted a visa..
I was at the educationUSA and I asked the VO that same question, he laughed at me and said where did you hear that from I said NL he just said are they the VO's to decide that, so far you prove you are a genuine student and provided the reason why you chose the school, you will be granted visa. then the Academic advisor added that after you get an associate degree from the CC you can transfer to a university to and get your bsc in 2yrs can you imagine "thousands of dollars you've just saved"? Don't just conclude like that maybe the few people you know that applied didn't get the visa but I know quite number of people who applied to CC and got their visas. undecided undecided

I agree that its the same process. Community
college doesn't make you look less a student. But our concern is how old is the guy in question.

I know someone who recently got his visa approved and he applied to a community college. Like this guy he had a bsc too in Nigeria. In fact the case is same but the ages will differ.

So bro, as for me, concerning this your case my problem will be your age..

Relax Mr. He was talking about the proportion not if cc get visa or not. We've seen cc people getting it here too but the number is few as compare to the number that came back to say denied or people that went with other degrees.

Are u say it would have been better if I apply for second degree in USA instead of the associate degree

If I am not wrong you can still look back and do the right thing because that visa fee and Sevis fee lasted for year. Within the next two or three months you can apply for university and get admitted. You can cancel your appointment for now till you get admitted to a university the book appointment. That's my own opinion and thought of advicing you but you have final say.

From 2002 till now is 14 years which is too far to be idle and working in your father company alone can't cover the gap.

If you have pass through university before and you want to go for another degree in USA there is nothing bad If you go for another bachelor degree but if you then apply to community college that is worst.

Let's imagine it this way, someone went to Unilag and graduated after five or seven years the person decided to go to Poly Ibadan and do another degree, don't you think it shows that the person is not moving forward at all and if you are a VO and you listened to a story like that will you grant that person visa

Be sincere please!

You make a lot of sense bro. I may have to reconsider like u said. I haven't paid Sevis and visa fees yet. I don't know what the appointment form looks like. ..do I need to wait for my first degree result to come out first? And I dey look for awoof bro lol...if u know any other university that waive standardize test? NDSU used to...i have 3 people that got admitted & travelled there; and that's the problem.. I guess they stopped offering it when I'm about to lol. Thanks

Bro... I'm not the one applying! I'm just giving my opinion because as it is here if you apply to CC and come up to NL for opinion the next thing people comments is it hard to secure a visa for CC get rid of the admit and look for admission to a university and scholarship, it a good idea yeah! but not all Intl stud, are been granted full tuition scholarship, and you won't wanna get there and start to blame yourself at a certain point if you can't afford the tuition. besides we've seen so cases like that here, alternatively cut your coat according to your size work according to your budget, besides a 30yrs old lady was granted visa to a community college in this trnd so far you are a genuine student you'll get your visa in the end it comes down to preparation and your answer, you gave during the 2-5 mins interview, and God favor. No one is perfect , there's some disadvantages with every person, stay positive.

I stand by comment that while u can get visa for Cc it hard especially at 34.... what advice you take is up to you .

Its easier to get visa through bsc or easiest masters based on your age (even though no visa is 100% sure) then if u don't have enough for tuition when you enter the USA transfer to CC if u are on the BSC path . (There nothing wrong with changing school )after entry. All the best
