See what I'm saying...

The desperation and immaturity associated with this contest is so huge that it does not deserve any further recommendations. Can this whole NL pageantry be put to a stop? After this one? I've read and seen where aggrieved parties/individuals show their frustrations if and when they lose out on any elections, but never have I seen anything this degrading.

Is it by beauty...
Brains...
Popularity...
Tenacity...
How would someone suggest that Lanicky does not deserve to win, let alone, call her ugly? What's the basis for this contest, if that's the case? What's the most basic criterion for qualifying or deserving to be Miss NL, if I may ask?

I purposely disassociated myself from this contest and it's controversies, and seeing all that's been going on, I'd do it again, again and again. I've known Lan for some time now, and she's not even someone that likes trouble. And the last time I checked, anything election is mostly based on popularity, every other criterion comes after. And she's popular...and pretty too.

Congratulations to the winner. To the losers, go and rest, it's over. Move on. That's what life would want you to do: move on. And stop being unnecessarily silly and dump. If you had won, I'm sure it'd have been okay, no?

But can we not have this contest again next year, or ever, please? You don't get to see these things on Facebook, Twitter, IG, etc, but on Nairaland. Why? Because we still see and take this forum as a 'Nigerian thing', and in Nigeria, they like pageantry so much. They almost cannot do without it. That's why everywhere you go in Nigeria, you see Miss this, Miss that. It's now a certified hustle. We can put a stop to this. At least, we can still control this one, can't we?

God bless us all
.

It is indeed a shameful thing to learn that some Nairalanders who were not in favour of the eventual winner Lanicky has resorted to insult and public display of ignorance.

Com'on peeps. You shouldn't take this like the whole of your life depends on it.

More shameful is the fact that, most of the people who have remained ever vocal against Nigeria system of electioneering are the same set of people displaying act of thuggery all in the name of registering displeasure.

More so, I don't think no single soul on this forum should openly say a particular contestant is not beautiful. Before you can say that, you must be able to tell us your own yardstick of measuring beauty. Mind you, if you succeed in telling us your stand on that, we shall correct you by saying that " what seems to you beautiful is an eyesore to others". And that will definitely dampen your sentimental morale.

All contestants are beautiful in their own way. But the best you can rely on is Beauty Within.

Further more, in a contest like this, what makes one a winner comes in varying forms and not just beauty alone. Your Beauty, your Sense of belonging, your Online presence, your Leadership ability, Luck and Destiny are some of the things that makes one a winner.

I AM AN ADVOCATE OF PEACE, EGALITARIAN AND EQUALITY.
I STAND TO SAY THAT ALL CONTESTANTS DESERVES TO BE CROWNED.

BUT I'D SAY CONGRATULATIONS TO LANICKY FOR HER DOGGEDNESS. JUST LIKE I WISHED HER, ABRAHAM LINCOLN'S FATE WHILE VOTING FOR HER YESTERDAY.

OMO EKIMOGUN
OMO ARBICO
GOD BLESS ADEYEMI MY ALMA MATA

I'm suprised that a contest that should be fun has been hijacked by some bigots....The winner has been declared, accept it and stop wailing. not that I'm a fan of this but I jst began to love the beauty of the contest in this forum. The whole saga was amazing but some just lack the spirit of sportmanship.

My advice to seun lalasticlala mynd44 etc...open a thread to address this issue so this bigots won't ruin your forum

Lanicky congrats to u, though I did not vote for u grin

lol....how do the judges in beauty pageants pick winners? Do they know them? Is it not by a certain criteria?

-Looks
-Intelligence
- Ability to answer questions

For an online forum, you add things like

-How does said person relate with other NLers?
- What is your participation level? Are you a regular or you just pass by?

If I got to organize this thing, there would be little or no loopholes to question.

The organization of a pageant in the real world is no different from debates. The NL Debate judges don't see the contestants in person as well. What makes you think some wouldn't have won if they got to stand in the presence of the judges?

Just like the pageants, the Debate teams don't get to speak to the judges unlike in the real world. In reality, some of those who lost debates would have gained an edge based on oratory.

I maintain that the process used in NL Debates is fairer....NLers will get the same powers people get in pageants. Remember, it's viewers votes that get contestants in the Top 15 of a pageant after which the panel of judges take over.

NLers votes will get contestants in the Top 5 after which the judges will take over. All you'll have to do is 'LIKE' the picture of who you think deserves a top 5 spot and when the likes are tallied, those with the most likes will go through.

Is that not an easier process than this one where you call an NLJega who may or may not be tallying the right numbers? Who is just a human being PRONE to errors?

Seun, Dygeasy, Ishilove or whoever organizes these things. Is the idea of NLers LIKING pictures to determine a Top 5 after which a panel of 5 judges from 5 different Sections chooses a winner not more feasible, legitimate and LESS STRESSFUL than the ancient method currently on ground?
And likes will ensure its not a popularity contest?

I honestly thought you had smarter ideas. undecided

I just went through refiner's post again and compared it with this your post and I have realised how Stvp.d you re for coming up with this rvbbish that's far fetched from what happened. Maybe you aren't aware of what played out because if you were this wouldn't had come from you.

You just lost the little respect I had for you on this forum.

the 5 neutral judges will ensure it's not a popularity contest.

It's the same tactic used in pageants worldwide. You couldn't pick enough holes in the idea and you think it's not smarter than what you have now?

You don't see people questioning the top 5, it's just the winner.

This is far smarter than what is on ground, you just won't admit it because that would mean admitting the current process is flawed
