TheNewIbadan: I feel sorry for people like you, because you are just ignorant of things, do you know how sad what this new development will be to some people, (me especially, a yoruba woman that gives the fanyogho to the those Ibo boys to sell) will be feeling. Those your so call Ibo boys are honest and hard working youth that life has really being too okay for them. The small money they make on that yogho they send it to their aged parent in their village. So just pray that you should never be in their shoes tomorrow because you wont even see the fanyogho to sell. 4 Likes |

Can Lagos State Government answer me this question- who is more a nuisance to the society? Area boys or street traders/hawkers? 1 Like |

The policy is nt targeted at any tribe or religion. It may be painful now as it will deprive some pple their means of livelihood but on the long term its an excellent policy. Government has a responsibility to protect the lives of every citizen and as such shuld not allow citizens do things that will harm them. Street hawkers endanger their lives and the lives of road users. I |

madridguy: This law wont have been effected if the so-called masses didn't resort to destroy government property over worth millions of Naira. Government property to make citizens transport easier. No serious government will allow hawking after the loss |

I think it's a good development but it's coming at the wrong time. Considerations should be made on what they {the street hawkers} will do next. Taking a man's source of living can lead to extreme measures. But atlas in naija there is no good time |

Beremx: Personally I hate street trading because the street traders always mess the environment, cause hold up and nuisance. Some are part-time robbers while others are fraudsters. From the street traders I see everyday, no tribe is exempt from the menace. It all depends on the particular location. For instance, in Docemo, Azikiwe, Ereko, Balogun and other other adjourning streets in Lagos Island, you see mostly Yoruba and Ibo hawkers. In Agege, Abattoir, Ketu, Mile 12, you will encounter mostly Yoruba and Hausa street traders. In Oshodi, Mushin, Yaba, Oyingbo, you get a mix of Yoruba, Ibo and other tribes. So why ethnicise the subject? |

oloworulz: On the internet you can be anything you want. It's really strange how people choose to be arrogantly ethnocentric. The suggestion here is for the governor to provide alternatives for those hawkers and you are saying the Igbo boys(based on whatever harm they might have meted out on you) should pack their load and go back to their state. Let's assume the 'Igbo' hawkers leave, followed by the 'Hausa' hawkers...what would be the fate of the 'Yoruba' hawkers? They should pack up and come to your house i guess. NDA is still trending on Nigerian security issues. Let's prevent the occurrence of LHA(Lagos Hawkers Avengers)... |

NzeeChuks:don't get me wrong, what I mean is Lagos government can't provide an alternative for the Igbo's, a tribe that fails to support it's agenda. we can accommodate the Hausa's, Yoruba's are very accommodative . can ur eastern governors provide an alternative to the Yoruba's and Hausa's in ur state? make una go back to una fathers land. |

MarineOne:And what we demand for, we will wait till thy kingdom come to get it. This is putting the cart before the horse..No one (even the hawkers themselves) like street trading.. But the big question is will there be a readily available alternative for the hundreds of thousands hawkers? The answer is NO. |
