Is it a must that blocked account will be opened with Deutsche Bank?

Hmmm. This is a very legitimate question, and one I haven't thought about at all. I don't know about the Abuja certifications where you also have to send it yourself, but I'll guess the consulate has a "special arrangement" with DB and that's why they send it for you. I will suggest writing the consulate on the possibility of other banks as well as writing "Commerzbank" and "Postbank" (Alongside DB, these are the 3 national banks I know). Would have asked any branch here for you but I don't have the time this period; that's something I will put in my reminder though.

No it's not.

The contract is for those admitted to Erasmus programs or regular students who would be going for an exchange and spending a semester or two abroad.

You can leave that out and just fill in your cgpa. You can see that's the only part in bold. Kindly also note that application for winter is closed if you require a visa unless you have a valid visa then you can proceed with winter application.

Believe me, there are no special considerations/procedures. You apply same way you apply to normal university programs. Most I believe are in English though some may require proficiency in two or more languages like the MSc Food Identity which requires proficiency in English and French but still considers adequate knowledge of Spanish, Italian or Romanian a plus for admission.

Funny though.

Since most are going to charge you at BDC rate, why not go and open a dorm account. If you already have an account with the bank, request for additional account opening form. There is no opening balance. And withdrawals are in same currency as deposits.

Source for your Euro from those Mallams, follow them to the Bank, let them deposit it into your dorm account (to be sure it's not fake), pay them the Naira equivalent and then transfer to wherever you want to.

That way you are less likely to be scammed, you have evidence of payment and most importantly, you will have an account you can always use for future transactions.

My two cents.

If they are yet to reply you by this time, then you have to send a mail across. Last year they only sent mail to those accepted, and when someone still waiting sent a mail to them he was told he isn't among the chosen ones, so send a mail requesting for the status of your admission.
All The Best.

I've sent a mail tho, awaiting reply, but according to their website they said ending of June, we're in 3rd of July, do they delay sometimes?

when you guys talk about the blocked acct money here, pls ensure you add up the db fee (150€ or 50€) whichever applies to you,.. to d 8640€

since it's a compulsory fee and dereby part of d required money, to prevent fake assumptions and stories that touch at d dieing mins.

Am sure this issue might have been treated in the previous threads/pages, its been difficult trying to find the right page. So pls I ask again. For those who made it over or who was there previously

1. What can you tell us bout the cost of living in Germany? Lemme rephrase that “a modest cost of living” no extravagant spending. Getting things that's absolutly necessary eg living space/food etc

2. Work opportunities for international students? Are they available? How easy can you get one? On “average” what can you earn (cash at hand) at month end.

3. Almost all there engineering courses are taught in German across the country, can one apply for a change of course after sufficiently learning the language?

Hi.. that's not a good suggestion at this time. Opening a Dorm account goes through series of processes. Remember he has to provide references which will be duly verified and this takes days cos the receiving end may delay with response and all. It took me over a month to open an euro account with Stanbic despite providing sound referees. Knowing fully well that most of the school deadline is closer. He should employ the services of someone in Germany who can initiate the transaction for him.

If the OP is still interested in paying for assist, he should PM.

Like seriously?

I initiated mine by Monday and got my account number, deposited and transferred by Tuesday at GTB, Marina despite providing the 2 referees from Different Banks (Maybe because I already have an account with them). Hence, that's why I recommend using a bank you already have a savings account with. I only provided the Additional Account Opening form, ID card and 2 referees.

If he doesn't have much time, he should find someone to help him with it. My advice was based on what I think. In this time of falling Naira where everyone now needs more Naira than ever, falling prey to scam at this time can/may be detrimental to your plans. That's why I think everyone is now better off doing it themselves.

Btw, It's just what I think. I don't have to be right always. Cheers.

sending money to uni-assist sometimes from naija black account that be very detrimental. When I initiated my transfer from here, my bank and a bank in germany charged me for processing fee making the total amont of money that got to uni-assist deficit of 10 euro. I had to contact a friend over there to help me send the 10 euro to them because I can't bear another excess charges. Note; I used dorm account. It's better if u can get someone there to help u send it and then he sends you the receipt immediately after payment before you make a transfer of naira to his/her account.

No no brother that's a wrong advice you are giving here. Our student work permit clearly States 120 full days or 240 half days. It pays to obey the law. Some people have been invited because their tax shows they overworked but if your Auslanderbehorde doesn't get you now in the future you may want to apply for permanent residence or any important thing beneficial to you and it will come up when passing checks on your past records, tax compliance, criminal records etc. The only way one can escape been found out is to do under the table jobs. Meaning your employer will pay you cash in hand and would not make any official records to the government that you are an employee. When you are about to sign a contract here an employee always asks for your steurnummer / tax number from the Rathaus. For under the table jobs you won't be asked for it. The disadvantage however is that in most cases like this you would most likely be underpaid.
Yes it is good to obey the law, but in Bremen here almost all African student work more than that, because if you work only 120 full days as stated, your 8040€ will dry up.Remember that 120 full days is only 4months and 450€ is not enough,I think they are keeping blind eye on that in this part of Germany, I dont know of the other part of Germany, those before me here have worked more than that for many years without any invitation. Some Cameroonians, Ghanians and Indians have stayed here for four years doing masters of two years, they do one or two course in a semester and work full time year to year.

What you are saying is true, because one Nigeria guy won a scholarship here and they invited him for an interview and ask him how will they give him the scholarship since he is sending 200€ back home every month, that the scholarship is meant for poor student and they cancel the scholarship. So they know everything about our activities but some time they just keep blind eye.

Is anyone here studying at Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt or University of Göttingen?

Or are there Nairalanders living in Eichstätt, Göttingen or Munich?
