My baby boy arrived on the 17th of June at 34 weeks. He waited till we 'crossed over' before making his early appearance as I got into the US 8 days earlier.

Had my baby in Oakbend with Dr Dama Ziwortin.... Had to have a C-section as my baby was in a transverse position. It was the best experience of my life as I felt no pains at all during delivery... Before (even though I was in active labour and contracting), during (thanks to the epidural... I guess) and after the surgery (definitely God's grace). I was placed on pain medication afterwards but I didn't need them as I was in no pain whatsoever. This is God's grace and mercy solely because at many points I almost lost this baby but God's mercies kept him.

After experiencing a miscarriage last year for no understandable reason I felt empty and prayed earnestly for God's help and he came through mightily for me. I am so humbled by the whole process of having a baby. I has taught me to trust God more especially as an independent and supposedly strong woman. It is truly not by power nor by might.

I was discharged after two days but my baby was taken to NICU.... Where they kept him for 12 days. I practically had to beg them to discharge my son as they said he had to gain some weight before they let him go. So they were only feeding and changing his diapers.... I could have done that from home. They slammed me with a bill of $7,900 afterwards which was later discounted to $5095 if we paid fully within a week.

My advise is alway be prepared for unseen situations. I planned to spend $6900 for a normal delivery but I ended up spending $13,500.

Baby is healthy, Mummy is health that's the testimony of supernatural childbirth for me! As a FTM I'm blessed to have experienced this.

Thanks to all the peeps that keep this thread alive. I learnt so much by just reading. God bless you loads.

Hello All,

My friend needs advice. When he applied for US Visa for vacation with his wife, she was asked if she was pregnant and she said No (she was) but that's because they intended having their baby in Canada and they were advised to say 'No' so as not to be denied the US visa. Well they got the US visa but the Can plans didn't work out.

Now the thing is they want to have their baby in the US. I know their not declaring pregnancy has really hampered their chance of a smooth entry into the US for delivery but how can they rectify this. Can anyone help with advice?

They haven't gone on their vacation yet, they decided to push it to closer to her delivery time (to save money sorta) but the flight prices hike and scarcity of dollars have made them cancel vacation entirely and focus on just having a baby in the US. That means his wife will be travelling alone (through JFK POE) and hubby will be joining much later, when the baby arrives.

Should they write to the Embassy saying they want to have their child in the US (even though they didn't declare pregnancy and they haven't gone on the vacation yet?) I'm thinking they might cancel their Visas entirely, is that possible?

Better still, do they wait till she gets to the POE then say there that she is in the US for vacation and Childbirth?

I know y'all are gonna scold the lying part grin but abeg offer solution too! They want to straighten things out! Thanks!

P:S they didn't know about this Nairaland forum until the damage!

[quote author=chloe7 post=47157607]what i'm saying is what the law says as regards it, mama's have carried over 10k into the us and none of them actually haven't said they were called for interview when renewing visa, also during the interview most people give $18k 15k as birth estimate and the v.o's are fine with it why because it is Legal to carry such amount of money once it is declared. [/quotat .

I never said its illegal to carry cover 10,000 USD. Am speaking out of my personal experience,my brother and my husband . we have all been called at renewal cos we at different times declare over 10,000. Like I said they want to verify the purpose of funds. They know people enter the USA for various reasons. They want to be sure of ur reason especially when u did not declare ur intention to give birth.

Hi,
The only remedy is to have the baby here in Nigeria or risk being sent back at POE. However, if she wld be travelling I will advise her husband travels with her. That way it might be easier for her at the POE.

Let me share a little experience. A friend went for an interview and denied being pregnant. Fastforward 5 months later, she was dere to have her baby. She was delayed at POE and maintained that she didn't knw she was pregnant during the interview ( she was actually 3 months pregnant then). After several hours of delay, she was stamped in for 6 months.

Some months later after she was back to the country, her hubby applied for visa and the wife's case was brought up. Guess what, he was denied visa and told that his wife lied during her visa interview.

Pls all, lets all be careful and be very honest cos everything one says during the interview is always documented.

Thank you.

There's nothing different from the scenario you painted and the 1 million and one similar cases posted by previous misrepresenters.
It is my humble opinion that this thread shouldn't be filled with the same advice over and over.
Advice:Kindly read back. Just on this part alone from page 1 to the end, you will see different opinions .

Hi guys,

Congrats to all new mums and mums-to-be, may we all have good testimonies to share in Jesus name. Please, the US visa number used to b 7digits before it became 8digits. How should this be explained in the visa form. This was back when pple printed two fingers on ink pad instead of ten-printing now. The driver's licence and and SSN have been verified online and are OK just that we need to know how to address the 7digit visa number on the DS 160. Any kind helpers?

2. Put a zero in front.if that don't work
3. Call the help desk
