He's not a striker nor a no 10 but a SS who's only dependent on his pace and movement to exploit the space created by his team-mates, similar to Mueller.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind SS with lot of flairs/tricks and vision to decide a tight game, examples includes Totti, Dyabala etc but players who are only dependent on space when they are neither strikers nor inverted forwards don't excite me. I mean what else is he doing in the hole when he's not scoring? Is he creating chances? No. Is he bamboozling opposition's defenders with his flairs/skills in the hole? No.
It's no surprise that in tight games where there are no space afforded such as the CL final, the likes of Griesman was found wanting and got shackled by Caseimiro! It's shame Khedira got injured, he would have done better than Emre Can in the game.

In goalkeeping, its a shame to be beaten at your near post because thats where you are supposed to protect first. It doesnt make him a bad keeper it just makes him a keeper that has a long way to go to match an icon like Neuer.

Lol! I'm not saying he's an average player either.
Personally, I think players like him should find their spot on the wings as inverted forwards alas Ronaldo, Reus, Muller etc or as strikers and should stop lumbering the centre which could be better filled up with creative players.
For crying out loud, what Griezmann did last night was no different from what Welbeck did in the hole against Madrid in our CL quarter final tie under Fergie. It's shame that for all Welbeck linkup play and movement, he's often terrible infront of goal. However that doesn't make Welbeck nor Griezmann ideal for the SS. Why?
Because they can be easily shackled by a DM nor do they add much creativity to the team. More so, they mostly feed off from the chaos their strike partner often creates and the moment their strike partner has an invisible day, they tend to as well. For example, the CL final, where Torres was mostly invisible, Griezmann was as well.
In fact, he's doing well in the tourny because Giroud has been threatening with his presence and his hold up play has been immense, the only let down is his finishing and poor pace. It's no coincidence that France looked less threatening as soon as Giroud left the pitch against Iceland even when it was just 60 mins gone.
Don't you think if Germany had a decent striker, they would have obliterated France before the first 20mins in relative to their complete domination and one of the reason France got completely dominated was because of their 2-man midfield to accommodate Griezman in the centre.

Mourinho has played predominantly 4-2-3-1. So we should be talking of front four.

I honesty think Rooney will get in before Herrera and Mata. But we still have to wait. It is going to be another long season with many matches, so there are plenty matches to go round. The one who started on the bench might even end up being the coach's favourite as season progresses.

Well if it is a front four, Rooney should get in. But then it shows United are short of enough quality.

This league will be tough for Mou. He was criticising LvG for not making UCL, he has just had his work cut out.
