Good morning and merry Sunday friends...smiley

I don't seem to get a satisfactory answer to these...and I think here might be in a better position to give me the answers I crave for...

in my church,*name undisclosed*the pastor uses a phone to read bible....but I wish to ask if it's morally right for a pastor to use a phone to read bible while preaching...

it maybe ignored if it was being used by a member, but we are talking about a pastor here, who stands by the pulpit to preach the word of God...but instead of the bible,he uses a phone...

its the same words, different books, did you know that the world is evolving?, soon everything will be digital just like the way letter writing is replaced by sms and instant messaging, when those bibles were printed at first, there was no bible in phones, so its evolution you have to keep up

It is alright as long as he is preaching from the bible

Some pastors like to reference different versions. do you want him to carry different bibles to the pulpit

Not bad, Bible is the words not the book
Bible is the book but God's word are the words written in it. Bible is from the word "bibilo" which means book.

I remember having this argument with my colleagues last three weeks and someone saying that "Bible is life". I was like shoroniyen

Personally, I don't see anything wrong with it. You can even get different translations without having to carry different hard cover bibles to the pulpit

Using a bible cannot be deemed wrong. Either an e-bible or hardback bible, the content remains the same.
But the e-bible is more convenient and can achieve more than the hardcopy bible
Re: Is It Morally Right For A Pastor To Use A Phone To Read Out Bible? by ChuxMyk(m): 1:32pm On Jul 10, 2016
You know. People always let theirselves be the judge of God's feelings. Trying to determine what's right and wrong in his sight. First of all, the bible wasnt originally written into "books" as we know them today. You all should know about the origin. When God carved his laws on stone tablets, that was the available technology then. Imagine when ppl started transferring these words to scrolls... If they were criticized d way ppl are for using mobile devices today, imagine how many pounds of stone you'll have to lift to church today. Technology advances everyday. And if today, the word is getting into mobile phones, it's more than a welcomed idea. God's word is not the big book u carry to church everyday. It's what's written inside. And where it's read out from should never be a problem. God alone should judge if he likes phones or not.

it's funny how people place priorities on irrelevancies.. from bible oh.. from iPad oh..from scrolls oh.. does it change the meaning of the words to you? or the veracity and power of those words? too many religious people but very few spiritual people.

Is it the book(paper) or phone we are reading or the word... if the Bible in the early days were originally on technological things like phone and tablet and then latter placed on paper today we would have complained that we have backslided... pls the Bible is not paper, or phone but words that gives life... What ever carries that word does not matter but the word it self.... however,it's sad that in our world today we have taken it to the extreme....which bring about competition and pride...bottom line is if the pastor has a Bible let him use it if his Bible is not available let him use d phone in as much as His motive is right and not for show up

as for me,the bible is a holy book...as long as you dont have nasty things on your phone eg porn, circular music, nasty sms or whatsap msg,etc then........but left to me i dont like the bibble on phones thing...when you carry your bible around..it shows you are not ashamed of the gospel ..but bible on the phone is a nono for me(my personal opinion tho)...carry your bible to the church not your phone
Re: Is It Morally Right For A Pastor To Use A Phone To Read Out Bible? by Omoaregba(m): 1:42pm On Jul 10, 2016
Personally I belive dt cell phones or other devices the bible App is on shudnt be made use of in the church.

But it cn b made use of during evangelism or preaching outside the church be it buses, house fellowships etc.

Imagine an entire congregation reading bible scriptures from their devices in church including the pastor. That will be entirely preposterous angry
Re: Is It Morally Right For A Pastor To Use A Phone To Read Out Bible? by ryd3(m): 1:43pm On Jul 10, 2016
Long ago, people reading bibles from the printing press were burnt at stake. If you want the original Bible, u must go back to scrolls written in Hebrew and Greek. The word is not hallow because of a book.; it's hallow because of the information embedded in it irrespective of the source

It's Not Okay!
It is not wrong to use a Bible, irrespective of the container, be it stone, papyrus, scroll, leather, paper or electronic.

Yes, He remains a Merciful GOD. And that is why He has not condemned you for using paper Bible, instead of stone-tablet Bible or scrolls.

Sunnycliff:

There is nothing morally wrong here. He may have a dedicated device for that, or set it to flight mode.

Soft copy and paper have pros and cons. You only outlined a few pros and cons, and there is no moral dimension to that.

In my own side Is not really polite for a man of God to b using phone inside church to preach the word of God... But I can't judge anyone even in my former church the pastor is using HP Pavilion laptop to preach every Sunday.

most people sees it as a normal thing, but I don't accept such style or whatever it is called. why can't he take the Bible and read directly from or is it too heavy...... let give God his respect when expected not doing the wrong thing in the name of TECHNOLOGY

Where was the first commandment written? On a STONE
When the idea of ink and paper came, everything on the stone was written in a book
Now is the time of advance technology. I don't see anything wrong with it except ONLY if the word is being tampered with. What's important is the WORD

Aunty, you're making it seem like an alien thing, we see it every now and then, pastor Chris uses such Ohah every time, so it's very common today but the question is it right? I think one will need to seek to know the mind of God to know!
