How many of such players do we want to cap?

Mayb we should organise an international friendly even if it is against Benin republic strickly for talents we dont want to lose to European countries.

We cap our most promising foreign born players. Ovie is very promising and it is wise to secure him. He is not just a foreign based Nigerian. He is a special talent.

What if we are not leading, instead we are chasing a result with 20minutes to go. Would you be comfortable throwing the kid straight to the deep end? because you have already traded a place in the team for a more qualified player with an academy lad. Its not done anywhere bro....

It's best he's drafted to the U20. He gets to play in the AYC and WYC and get grow with the lads over there.
Trust me, England has no chance getting him snapped up. His family is totally focused on having him play for the eagles.

Drafting him to the U20 doesn't cap him. I said we cap him. Also, there is no way we can not make room on the bench for him. There will be players on the bench that Ovie will offer more than them. Players who will not get to play all through the qualifiers.

Note I said if we are leading. So why point to if we are losing. That is away from the point I was making. We capped Iwobi in an important game. So, we can cap Ovie in a game when we are leading.

I repeat, he is a very promising prospect. Capping him will increase our pool of promising players.

Bingo!
Hahaha u have found out dat Ibrahim Alhassan failed MRI before CAF U17 tourney after u repeatedly maintained he bench Iheanacho at d CAF tourney. grin Ore ma fi ara bale. Some people na encyclopedia of Nigerian football here o. grin

I also forgot to mention Benard Bulbwa among players dat graduated from U15 to U17. Some failed d MRI prio to d CAF U17 of which i cant figure out there names. So i cant tell u d number.
They are more than 5.

I wonder what u are argueing abt now because we already know that d MRI was performed jst before d CAF U17 & before d FIFA U17.

And of course u have accepted d fact dat Success displaced Awoniyi from d top 9 position.

So what is now ur argument abt?

Sometimes, Me I tire. You made it clear, Success displaced Awoniyi in the already selected U17. What he is trying to prove, I do not get.

The current team Manu Garba is building already have a selected 22 players out of over 50 players in camp. This stands as the current selected U17 team. With other players coming in and the when the MRI testing takes place, not all these 22 players will be in camp.

Of course, I have always maintained that Ibrahim Alhassan benched Kelechi Iheanacho when he first came to the camp and throughout his stay in the team which included the qualifiers where he became the joint top goal scorer with 5 goals, before he was dropped due to failed MRI test few days before the CAF U17 2013 tournament started. As you can see, I never said he benched Kelechi Iheanacho in the CAF U17 2013 tournament.

If we have to go by your analogy that U15 automatically formed the nucleus of the U17 team then it is safe and right to say Ibrahim Alhassan gate crashed into the already formed team and relegated Kelechi Iheanacho to the bench. grin

Is that not what you meant before I proceed further with my point?

There was nothing like already selected team before Isaac Success came into the team. He came before the U17 was constituted. The U17 team that was later constituted played the first preliminary qualifying match against Niger.

Guess what? Isaac Success started that match against Niger.

Tell me when he was displaced,?

Abeg Forget all those Alhassan and Iheanacho argument. There is no point to argue abt or to prove there. They are both nt part of the Rio team.

What ever needed to be proven has been proven: Iheanacho plays for Manchester City while Ibrahim Alhassan plays for Wikki Tourists of Bauchi. grin

AZ Alkmaar-bound Nigeria's Friday rejects Turkish deal

by Samm Audu

AfricanFootball.com can specially reveal that the leading scorer in the Norwegian league Fred Friday has turned down a chance to join Turkish club Alanyaspor as he hopes to soon make the move to top Dutch club AZ Alkmaar.

“Friday has turned down a chance to join Alanyaspor because he is on his way to AZ Alkmaar,” a top source informed AfricanFootball.com.

As AfricanFootball.com first reported, Lillestrom’s Nigerian striker Friday is set to seal a move to AZ, who are close to selling off star striker Vincent Janssen to Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

Friday has netted eight goals this season for middle-of-the-table Norwegian club Lillestrom and he is regarded as a direct replacement for Janssen.

Alanyaspor won promotion playoffs in the Turkish second-tier league after they finished third in the regular season.

They have shown great ambitions going into the top-flight league after they signed Nigeria defender Akeem Latifu and recently contacted another Nigeria international, John Ogu, who won the Israeli championship this past season.

Omeruo says goodbye to Chelsea, joins Besiktas this week.

by Samm Audu

Nigeria international Kenneth Omeruo will say his final goodbyes to Premier League club Chelsea this week to join Turkish champions Besiktas after the London club turned down last-ditch offer from a Spanish La Liga club, AfricanFootball.com can exclusively report.

Omeruo and his representatives are expected to jet out from London this week to finalise his personal terms with Besiktas after both clubs agreed the switch.

“Kenneth’s transfer to Besiktas is virtually completed with only the Turkish club to agree his personal terms and this will be sorted out this week when the player is there to do his medical,” a source informed AfricanFootball.com.

“There was a late bid for him by a Spanish club, Celta Vigo, but Chelsea didn’t consider it.”

Besiktas scouted the highly-rated Nigeria stopper after he posted five-stars displays against them last season while featuring for Kasimpasa.

Kasimpasa won the first game 1-0 at home, while the reverse fixture ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw.

Kasimpasa, who are based in Istanbul like Besiktas, could not afford the five million Euros Chelsea demanded to sell the Nigeria star outrightly.

AfricanFootball.com has already scooped that Besiktas will make this transfer a permanent one after the initial season-long loan.

Highly Rated Akpoguma Reiterate Desire To Play For Germany Ahead Of Nigeria

Kelvin Akpoguma who was at a point in time called up to the Nigeria U-23 team has once again reveal his desire is to play for the German national team.

Born in Germany to a Nigerian father, the former captain of the U-20 team of Germany was among 47 foreign based players called up by coach of the Nigeria Olympic team when training started in 2014 but the 20 year old didn’t honour the invitation.

Prior to Siasia calling up the Hoffeinheim defender who spent last season on loan at second division side Fortuna Dusseldorf has told various news sources in Nigeria about his preference for the German national team even though he has twice visited Nigeria.

Akpoguma reiterated his hope of playing for the senior national team of Germany after playing for all most all cadre of their youth teams during an interview with German newspaper Bild picked up by Owngoalnigeria.com.

He wants to follow in the footsteps of Jonathan Tah who rose from Fortuna Dusseldorf to the national team of Germany as oppose to chasing a national team career with the senior team of Nigeria.

“The national team of Germany is my big dream, as a matter of fact no just a dream but my goal”.

OFFICIAL: Bayern Munich Nigerian Teen Sensation Joins Augsburg

Dream Team VI invitee Chima Okoroji has left German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich for fellow Bundesliga side Augsburg.

Okoroji was among the list of 47 players called up by coach Samson Siasia at the start of camping by the Nigeria U-23s but club commitments prevented the 19 year old from honouring the invitation.

He rose through the ranks at Bayern Munich and became a regular with U-17s and 19s of the Bundesliga giants but failed to make the first team despite been tipped to make his bow two seasons ago.

The left full back who can also operate as a winger joined Augsburg on a year deal till the summer of 2017 and will team up with the youth team of the Bundesliga team from where his performances could earn him a first team debut.

Born in England to a Nigerian father, he is eligible to represent both nations but he is yet to be called up at any level by both countries.

You enjoy making and dragging arguments. There is no guarantee that Iheanacho will not be known if he did not play in the U17 tournament.

That I not true. He was already promising and just like others that did not play, there would have been another opportunity to show him. He might have gone to a Nigerian league club and his talent would have been noticed.

You enjoy arguing unnecessarily. Even after I have told you Manu Garba has already selected a TEAM from the early U17 screening. That is his U17 team. That is not the final list. Even after the CAF U17, there can be changes.

Using official and unofficial is just to drag that the coach does not have a team while he already has.

Manu Garba already has his team. With time it can change.
