I'd advise you use the landline, more credible. They rarely call employers and if they do want to call, I'm sure they'd call during official work hours.

Thanks a lot.

Please, can someone help me here. My sister-in-law told me they refused her boyfriend uk visitors visa and no reason was given which I find very strange. He used some agent in Nigeria. I don't know how they did it. My reason is the refuser letter which he was supposed to have got. Plz, is there any email to contact uk lagos embassy to know why he was refused? Because without refused letter, u won't know why it was refused and what to sort out to reapply again.
Thanks for your help.

He should be contacting the agent because he probably has the refusal letter and refused to give it to your sister's bf. The embassy will not refuse you a visa without a letter explaining why.

Visit the British embassy website for contact details and contact them if you want to

@justwise help with my question please. Can I collect my mum's package on her behalf. A decision has been made on her application
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Nobody: 5:38am On Jul 16, 2016
Dear @Justwise,

I need urgent advise.
I applied for a 2 -year UK visa. Date of submitting my application was 16th May, 2016. I collected my passport yesterday and my application was refused.

The reason for refusal is as follows:

The decision
I have refused your application for a visit visa because @I am not satisfied that you meet the requirement of V4.2(a)-(e) of AppendixV: Immigration rules for visitors and I have also considered your application under paragraph V.3.6 of Appendix V: Immigration rules

. You have provided a hotel reservation for XXXX from Bleep to Bleep. Our office contacted the hotel on 9 June 2016 and was informed that the reservation was cancelled on 28th April 2016. This was before you submitted your online on 16/05/2016. I note you have declared on your application form that you will stay at the XXXX. Given that you cancelled this booking before you submitted your visa application online. I am satisfied that you applied deception when making your application. I am therefore not satisfied that you have accommodation arranged for your visit to the UK. This in turn leads me to doubt your intentions to travel on this occasion.

. Given the above I am not satisfied that you are a genuine visitor and will leave the UK at the end of your visit or that you have sufficient funds available to cover your costs whilst in the UK without working or accessing public funds.

.Your application for a visit visa has therefore been refused under paragraphs V4.2(a) and (e) and V.3.6 of the Immigration rules

He concluded to future application thesis with that there is no right of appeal or right to administrative review.

Here is outcome of my investigation:
1. I was never aware that my reservation was cancelled on 28th April 2016 until yesterday when I collected my passport. The UK EO is the first person to inform my me that the reservation I made on 20th April, 2016 (which was approved with reservation number) was cancelled on 28th April 2016.
2. I called the hotel yesterday to enquire the reason for this cancellation, and their Guest relations rep informed me it was cancelled because the credit card detail I registered online did not go through and was subsequently cancelled.
3. I asked why he did not contact me when the credit card details did not pull through to enable me make alternative arrangement or notify of the cancellation. He said they did not have my contact details (which is strange given that they sent a confirmation of my reservation to my email).
4. I subsequently requested that hotel write me an email stating the reason why my reservation was cancelled, which he promised to do. I have also written to the hotel as follows:
"I have been informed that my reservation was cancelled on 28th April, 2016. I would like to confirm the reason for the cancellation on this date as this was not done by me and why I was not notified of this cancellation on this date and on time to allow me make alternative arrangement as this action has had a detrimental effect to me with regards to the Petroleum Engineering conference I was scheduled to attend in August."

See the hotels cancellation and rate description policy below:

Cancellation Policy: Must purchase at least 3 days in advance.A deposit for the entire stay is due at time of booking.Canceling your reservation or failing to arrive will result in forfeiture of your deposit. Taxes may apply.

Rate Description: Great value on this fully prepaid rate. Advance purchase is required. A full prepaid non-refundable deposit is required at time of booking. Your credit card will be charged between the time of booking and day of arrival. Deposit is non-refundable if reservation is cancelled. Reservation non-Transferable

Here are my prayers:
1. Given the EO decision was arrived at with information never available to me at the material time, I wish to appeal the decision. Do you advise I go ahead?
2. If answer to 1. is affirmative can you advise me on how I can go about this.

My Immigration History:
1. I have never broken the terms of my stay before and never been refuse a visa or permit before now
2. I was granted a 1 year UK student visa in 2006
3. A 2 year UK post study work permit in 2009
4. A 2 year US visa in 2008 (with 2 visits in 2009 and 2010)
5. A 2 year US visa in 2015 (was in the US for 2 weeks in November last year for a similar type conference)

I need an urgent reply to enable make a decision on the next step forward as my conference is in middle of August, 2016

I think you are making far too much of this and trying to blame other people.

It is very well known that hotels cancel reservations if not paid, YOU should have checked this.
You should have checked bank statement and the reservation before the application was processed.

More for you to worry about the VO says " I am satisfied that you applied deception"
If they claim deception they may have banned you!
You must now check this, whatever happens you have black mark on your record.
To say again this is your fault for not checking, nothing to do with the hotel!

Sorry to hear ur experience, it happened to a friend of mine some years back but got the visa back. When is the conference coming up?
Did you confirm at your bank if you could use ur debit card for online transaction? If Yes, Find a way to book another hotel reservation, once you book it, give like 24hours to confirm if cancelled, after that, make an affidavit stating you didn't cancel the booking and tht you used the debit card linked with your bank account.

After that make sure all ur docs are in good shape, write another letter explaining you regret all that happened and that it wasn't intentional. contact ur bank so as to authorise the transaction with that same hotel and call them to confirm if they were able to charge ur card , keep checking ur online booking from the day of submission till you receive ur application so as to be sure it has not cancelled again, but I am 100% sure if you contact ur bank to authorise the transaction it will go through.

However, you need to confirm if ur still entitled to 2yrs renewal, I think my friend was told to apply for 6month since his 2yrs visa was refused, please confirm from my ogas first. Wish u luck.

You don't blame the ECO for not informing you about the cancellation blame the hotel.

You have no right to appeal the decision, you can only reapply with evidence of correspondence between you and the hotel about the cancellation. If the hotel gives you a written explanation then better as it will support your case.

@justwise

Thank you for your reply.

I am not blaming the ECO for not informing, it the Hotel that I feel aggrieved with tbh.

The Hotel replied my email and see their reply below

Hello Bleep,

Thank you for your email.

You reserved an advance purchase reservation, the card that we tried to take payment on declined and were were unable to contact you as we did not have an email address and were unable to contact you on your telephone number.

We have reinstated the reservation however the payment is still declining,

Have you another card that we are able to take payment from?

Kindest regards

Alexandra

I guess I took it for granted. I would apply more care next time

For Future Application this is what the ECO stated.

Any future UK visa applications you make will be considered on their own merits, however you are likely to be refused unless the circumstances of you application change.

You should note that because this application for entry clearance has been refused under paragraph V3.6 of the immigration Rules any future application will also be refused for the same reason under paragraph 320 (7B) of the immigration Rules or paragraph V3.7 of Appendix V of the immigration Rules.

A refusal under paragraph V3.7 of Appendix V of the immigration Rules may attract an automatic refusal period of up to 10 years. The period starts from the date of the previous event in which deception or submission of falsified documents or information was employed.

So I guess I should not bother appealing.
Secondly, I guess I am yet to attract an automatic ban but will likely do if a similar situation occurs. Do you agree?

I guess I should forget about the conference for now but I plan to reapply fairly soon. Now given the reply from the hotel do you think their response will be useful during future application when I am asked declare previous refusal and the reason.

I acknowledge I have goofed and took for granted crosschecking my details before sending my application. Hope to learn from it. I will appreciate if you can tell me what you think for about reapplying.

In reality a parking ticket will not affect your visa.

Good Morning NLs,

(1) Is it a must i make hotel reservations and flight booking before i applying for UK standard Visitor Visa, I want to use the online system?

(2) If apply with wife, will my spouse have a separate application and if YES, how will the application link together so that they know its not
only one person going to UK?

(3) if i am sponsoring my spouse to go with me, will she also have to provide her statement of account, letter from her employer etc? and where issue of money available for the trip was asked, what will be her response?

Thank you for your swift response.
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by opomulero(m): 2:48am On Jul 17, 2016
@2n2k
assuming you are sponsuring your spouse, which document will be provided by your spouse if she is working (not a full house wife)

2n2k:

This is applicable if you are using 'old' visa portal - www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk

If you apply using the 'new service' - www.gov.uk/browse/visas-immigration, The Standard Visitor visa has replaced the following
Family Visitor visa
General Visitor visa
Child Visitor visa
Business Visitor visa, including visas for academics, doctors and dentists
Sports Visitor visa
Entertainer Visitor visa
Prospective Entrepreneur visa
Private Medical Treatment Visitor visa
Approved Destination Status (ADS) visa

I observed that most posters are still using the old service. That is why questions are asked about " How much do you have for this trip?" Or "What is your monthly income in pound sterling?". All these confusing questions have been removed from the form in the new service. Also, they removed questions about breakdown of the costs of vacation into flight, hotel etc. Just the total is required.

If you are using the new service (which gives drop down choices of pound or naira), it is advisable in the light of floating exchange rate to state your annual income (which is what is asked for) as well as monthly routine expenses in naira while the cost of your stay in UK is better stated in pound sterling after all that is what you are going to spend there. With this method, you won't bother if naira suddenly take a dive while you have used a particular forex rate.

It should be noted that under new service you cannot make multiple applications on one account (e.g. applying for members of family). What you will do is to make separate applications under separate accounts on www.gov.uk. After that, you go to Teleperformance website to create a single account and add all the other members of the group using the GWF generated from the gov.uk site. Infact it is a must that all members of a family traveling together must use the same account on Teleperformance if they are applying at the same time.

I used the new service for my family and I. Our visas came out within 5 days in Abuja- did biometrics on Monday, received decision mail on Thursday, collected passports on Friday. No priority added value service.
