Tinubu doesn't control the senate. If he did...Sarahi won't be senate president and would have been impeached since.

He is influential cow he sponsored a lot of the political office holders now. He is corrupt however. Extremely.

His influence is however nothing compared to that wielded by Obasanjo tho.

Even in American election is about money, politician are been sponsored.

I don't think he is powerful is just that Yoruba and Hausa-Fulani tend to be very demure and respectful to someone in their societies who has risen above board notwithstanding if he or she is right or wrong...they will be loyal to that person. The cultural reverence that come with the throne of Obas, Onis and Emirs also makes it easier for them to control the people. With Igbos...it's impossible as they are not used to having powerful people! Igbo society is naturally and culturally an egalitarian society....everyone is equal! Have you heard of a powerful Igbo man before? Lol. The only way you will be powerful to Igbos is if you are fighting for their freedom...as in Ojukwu and Nnamdi Kanu, then you are talking otherwise you are just an ordinary person no matter your wealth and political clout.

Refreshrate, i dont understand why people are derailing this thread

WHY IS TINUBU SO POWERFUL no suppose concern dino, gej, ipob, and all the nonsense here

Back to the matter, i think its because he is clever. He knows when to lose so as to win. He doesnt easily give up. He didnt try to join them simply because he couldnt beat them. He is the reason why some influential governors and senators have a seat and as the saying concludes, HE DICTATES THE TUNE

Am igbo sha, i hate tinubu but i still see some values in him that should be emulated

Quite sincerely you took these words right of my keypad.
Thing is ibo man will never agree anyone is greater than him if the man likes let him have more money than king Solomon. Ibo boy will tell you " your money na your own, me I go hustle get my own" this explains why it's so difficult for anyone based on financial standing to come and be deciding for them as a tribe. Who born the person? When hustling never finish for their body?

Unlike you can say for some other people who have this overwhelming sense of entitlement. Case in point, use NL as a survey, who makes remarks such as "our commonwealth" "something that belongs to all of us" "our yam" etc without one single oil rig in their region?

They make more noise about the oil revenue even more than the people who the oil is domiciled with. They never leave their region to enterprise in other parts of the country but when some people do it they start shouting on the rooftops.

Now tell me if you have money and people with this kind of non hustlers but entitlement mentality how will one person not always come out to lead the pack?

people without leaders are focusless.

Think about this again.
Not people without leaders as I'm certain even you know which people are the most enterprising among the groups mentioned.

Having an entitlement mentality & subservient ideology does not translate to having focus.

It stunts growth. If you like be looking at picture of okotie eboh at queens coronation with pride. That my good sir is ancient history.

Tinubu builds people...he is building an enduring legacy through human capital development. The list is quite long....Fashola, Ambode, Fowler, the present Ooni, all the APC house of reps members and Senators, about 10,000 Lagosians on his payroll. He has several protege's scattered around the world.... Try build people today, it will amaze you how influential you can be tomorrow. Jagaban did not start today....it have teyyyyy.

Your comment exemplifies why he is so powerful. He is because Nigerians are unbelievably corrupt and they only respond to corrupt leaders. In a normal country, a virtuous leader will most likely be very powerful which is why Abraham Lincoln was and is adored in America till today. In Nigeria, a virtuous person is seen as a mugu.
Unfortunately, this is true.
Two rules to being relevant and powerful in Nigeria;
1. Steal enough money to last five life times.
2. Ass kiss people who have done the above.

It's even more pathetic that most Nigerians don't realize this is a messed up way of surviving.
Most Nigerians do not want good leaders. They prefer to be sentimentally herded by people without virtues and then, delude themselves that this will bring forth a better country.

IF YOU SAY BUHARI IS A DICTATOR, WITHOUT LOOTING YOUR MONEY OR KILLING YOUR PEOPLE, WHAT WILL YOU CALL JONATHAN AFTER READING THIS?
1-Where were the common sense Senator and the wailers when Senate invited Deziani over N10B for chartering of private jet and Jonathan openly ask her not to honour the invitation?
2-Then President Jonathan sacked the President of the Appeal court because he refused to compromise on the case involving the ruling party and ruling that forensic examination be allowed on materials used for the 2011 Presidential election. Even when the NJC asked that he be reinstated, Jonathan refused yet, he is your HERO OF DEMOCRACY.
3-Why didn't we hear noise calling Jonathan a dictator when house of Rep was locked up in the bid to impeached Tambuwal and we saw Rep members flying over fence and gates with some even tear gassed by the Jonathan police?
4-All the security details attached to then Speaker of House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal were withdrawn by the Federal Government led by Jonathan yet, you still didn't see any reason not to worship him.
5-Bode George was tried in the law court and he was jailed for two years and served the term. Saint Jonathan came and asked the court to reversed that judgement that later said Bode George wasn't guilty as charged and he became an innocent and not ex convict but till date Bode never sued for damages.
6-For weeks in 2014, the Governor of Kano State kept shouting that security aides posted to watch over the state house were recalled as a result of orders from above, not once did you accuse Jonathan of tyranny.
7- For appointing Sanusi Lamido as Emir of Kano which was within the rights and powers of the Kano State Government, Jonathan ordered security agents to lay siege at the Emir's palace. For days, the Emir operated from the Kano State Government House. You didn't call Jonathan by the dictatorship that he was acting out then.
8-For the first and only time in the history of Nigeria we had a first lady that also picked up position as the perm sec in the president state without working to attained such position. What did the wailers do?
9- Jonathan withdrew the security details attached to then Governor Amaechi, Jonathan grounded the plane of Amaechi, Jonathan masterminded and hugely supported the division and crisis in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Jonathan allowed his wife to govern Rivers from Abuja, Jonathan used Mbu to embarrass and harass a sitting Governor, Jonathan crippled Rivers because Amaechi was the Governor yet, you still see Jonathan as a demigod.
10- In this same country, we saw how Jonathan supported the destruction of the once vibrant Governors' Forum by supporting 16 against 19 yet, you see him as one decent man who should be seen as a Hero.
11-We have not forgotten how Jonathan used state power to prevent sitting Governors from reaching a part of the country to support the reelection of one of their own because they were in the opposition and you who is laying claim to fairness and pretending to love Democracy still claim you miss this same character.
12-It was in this country under Jonathan the saint that we saw for the first time the military ambushed daily news papers distributions. They were seized and destroyed without explanations. Yet Jonathan wasn't tagged a tyrant
13-In this same country, we saw the circulation of an undisputed video by an army officer detailing how soldiers were used to rig the election in Ekiti State to favour the thug governing the state today and yet, you see same Jonathan who was Commander in Chief of all these barbarism as decent enough to be called a hero.
14- In his desperation to see the Governor Nyako impeached, The Presidency under Jonathan had the accounts of Adamawa State frozen. A State Government account oh and not personal account of the Governor and not once did you condemn the action nor call Jonathan the dictator he clearly was then.
15-Same Jonathan you can almost worship today single handedly denied his then state Governor the right to seek the nomination of his party because he had personal grievances against him yet, you never for once accused him of abuse of power.
16-It is in Nigeria we saw how a serving Senator was shot at in a political gathering by the Nigeria police that are supposed to protect our law makers and such Senator is lucky to be alive today after been flown abroad for treatment.
17-For the first time in our history as a country, the CBN Governor was unilaterally sacked by the President without following the due process of our law because he asked questions regarding careless stealing of the nation's money supervised and supported by Jonathan yet, you never called Jonathan the dictator he clearly was.
18-Under Jonathan was when we witness how 5 house of assembly members out of 32 almost impeached a sitting governor that lead to serious fracas.

Hey, you be political library?

You don't know how pleased i was to have read your comment. The biggest problem in Nigeria is not it's leaders. It is it's citizenry. Leaders come from the citizens, and if the citizens are phucked up, the leader will be phucked up. There needs to be a fundamental shift in the way Nigerians think. Unfortunately, generations of Nigerians have imbibed this corruptive mentality that i fear that there may be no way to uproot it. It is too deep. And just like you said; Most of them don't know this and think everything is fine with the way they think. People like us who are few and far in between are outnumbered. Nigeria needs to do what Jerry Rawlings did in Ghana in '79. You can only uproot this way of life by force and by blood. Anytime they are ready, i'm down for it. I do it for a living anyway so it is not new to me. God help us.

Sentiment apart! The only thing that makes Tinubu so powerful among other politicians is that his eyes is everywhere in Nigeria today....how?

Look at the way he make sure that his boys are the ones that dominates 70% of southwest states as governors.

Look at the way he plants politicians that were not even having the hope of where they are today in every areas as far as Nigeria politics it is?

I sees Tinubu as a politicians that doesn't allow greediness or tussle of power to block his view and allow others to grow.

Whether you like it or not. He is the most influential and successful opposition that took reigning party down to its kneels.

His never a saint but God used him to bring down PDP.

I call him the most influential politician of our era!!!
