Gud morning mamas, pls I av a matter of concern, if anyone has been in similar situation, how did dey cope and hope it didn't affect them much, I happen to be involved in an accident on the 3rd of January this yr(got knocked down by a bike as i cross a major road), i had an un-displaced fracture of my right ankle and i had a POP on the leg for the required 6wks, i had a check x-ray and d radiologist said the fractured is healing well. after the cast was removed i battled with swelling and pain for some time, but the leg is ok, i can walk without a limp nw although i still feel pain sometimes, now that am preggy am concerned about baby weight on the leg when i become huge and the swelling that preggy mamas normally experience.

Am 32weeks and #TeamSeptember but for 2-3days now i have been feeling ds tingling pain in my upper tight (around d pelvics or hip bones) and menstral like pain in my middle n lower abdomen + i woke up with fluid around me this morning (dunno if its urine or smfn else, was odorless though).

my DR placed me on folic acid as soon as I got my BFP, up until now I am still taking folic acid (19 weeks). it's very important for ur baby so pls take it 'faithfully'
Most mamas take pregnacare as a vitamin supplement, but mostly make sure u try to eat well and balance ur meals appropriately.

According to her you are not supposed to do more than 5 scans during the duration of a pregnancy. Also she advised me to start doing Pirennial exercise to reduce vaginal tear during birthing. I asked her what perennial exercise is and this is what she sent:

"Its to reduce vagina tears. U do it with natural oil like olive oil . insert ur thumbs ladden with oil into ur vagina and try stretching it. U cld read it up online or watch a you-tube video of it"

Has anyone done this perennial exercise before? And my fear is, wnt it make the vjay to expand out of proportion. She advised I do that exercise and do kegel as well which will tighten me up so the thing confuse me.

A recent study found that doing pelvic-floor-muscle exercises, known as Kegels, may reduce the risk of urinary incontinence during pregnancy and after. To perform Kegels, first locate the muscles by stopping and starting the flow of urine; that's the motion. (Don't do the exercises while urinating.) Then do 10 Kegels three times a day.
Another technique that may help is perineal massage, which is stretching the tissues around the vaginal opening in the weeks before delivery. To condition your perineum, wash your hands and apply a lubricant (almond oil, K-Y, or cocoa butter) to the area. Then place your thumbs about 1 to 1 1/2 inches inside your vagina. Repeat this towards the right side of the vagina for two more minutes and then to the left. Perform this technique daily (your partner can help!) starting at 34 weeks of pregnancy.

As for the perennial massage its the ridge between the Angus and the jajaina that is massaged with the thumb or index finger using a lubricant not the jajaina itself! Your hubby can help you do it.

Folic acid is the most important supplement a preggy woman needs! All others can be avoided if you have a healthy meal plan! Please take your folic mama. Haven't used centrum before pregnacare was OK for me it contains all the vitamins and mineral I and my baby required.

One at 12 weeks which is the dating scan when your EDD is given. And the other is at 20 weeks When they can check the sex. The next time is when you start labour.

All the down syndrom, spina bifida and other ailements are checked within these 2 scans and the corresponding bloodwork that is done with it.

If you want any other scans this will need to be done privately.

They will only do additional scans if there is an issue.

You alone knows what you are going thru and how its affecting you, but I'd rather suggest a separation for now! Not total breakup! Go some place where you can have peace and joy at least for the sake of your unborn baby! when the tempers are down both of you can try give it another chance. B4 l stat my epistle lemme drop BS.
My BS
I registered antenatal with 2 private hospitals both diagnosed cs cos baby's breech + multiple fibroids hubby decided if its cs he'd rather l do it @ island maternity cos of their standards.
So l was booked for d cs on Monday 11th which will make me 38wks buh d hospital insisted l b admitted on friday for monitoring til Monday. On Thursday morning startd feeling pain in ma waist decided to bear it till Friday l was to go in for admission around 10pm d pain becam so severe l had to report to d hospital dat night doc said twas labor pains l was injected to relive d pain den was admitted nd placed on strict bed rest each time l step down frm d bed for somtin d pain coms so l jus adhered. Fastfw to monday 8.00am (1 was d first on d long list of pple for cs on dat day) l was prepped nd by 10:10am l was wheeled out of d theatre afta a successful op. Thnk God it ended in praise.

My Epistle
I cant read bac d pages l missed r too much to all ma teamies dat hav put to bed congrats.
Since l delivered l havnt logged on cos it's bin hell. Afta ma op l wore disposable pants wits pad buh l noticed my privates bcom sore nd it hots making it uncomfortably to walk I'm on d slim side so l cant use pad witout pants it would fall since l was still on admission l used d pad witout pants nd remained in bed. On Wednesday l noticed dat d wound was bleeding l complained to a nursed she looked at me as if l didn't knw wot l was talking abt wen d matron cam round l complained to her as well she removed d plaster there was blood buh she said she didnt knw wot caused it so she jus redressed d wound. On thursday ma docs cam round removed d plaster nd said l was ready to b discharged. I asked if l can take my bathe dey said l can. All dis while I've still bin unable to wear pants my privates hurt somtims l soak a small towel nd place it at d junctures of ma thighs. Meanwhile all d ppl l was op wit on d same day evn afta me r walking properly witout pains nd dey wear pants. Wen l complained abt d pains d doc said l jus did an op dat it wld stop so l wnt home. @hom it was a challenge to attend to visitors lochia was flowing nd l cant wear pants it was a challenge buh l managed. I was dressing my wound as directed by ma doc buh d areas around d incision site was swelling nd vry painful ma legs were swelling thou it didn't swell while l was preggy it swelled to d xtent of entering into ma toes evn thou l was always raising it up. I had to google my symptoms nd l found out dat thou it wasn't common buh it happens to few its called postpartum edema. Dat was wen ma mind came down a little cos l was scared somtin might have gone wrng during d op.
D swelling of d legs has eased, l asked dh to massage it for me, he massaged frm foot to knee immediately afta l started urinating more frequently under 24hrs d swelling eased.
Buh d swelling along d incision site has refused to go down nd d pain is frm hell it gets worse on a daily basis to d xtent dat somtyms it givs me fever.
I took panadol xtra today d pain subsided for like 15-20mins den cam bac dats d xtent of d pain I'm in. I was waiting for my two wks app(nxt wk friday) to go to d hospital buh at dis rate l dnt tink l can wait anymore.
Pls mamas dat has undergone cs has anyone xperiencd dis pls share.

Sometimes pregnancy hormones kinda exaggerate the way we feel and react to some issues.

No ma. It's not 4 scans they give o. The hospital gives you 1 or 2. Thats the standard if your pregnancy is progressing very well with no complications. Some doctors will however give you more ultrasounds at their discrection but overall it's usually not more than 2. The first being dating ultrasound (that's usually done if you have some bleeding or threatened abortion) and the second one around 20weeks (anatomy scan to check for abnormalities).

They won't even check the babies weight to know how much the baby is weighing, so far they've used the tape measure to measure your belly and you're not measuring more than 2 weeks ahead and behind and you're not high risk.

However, you can get ultrasounds done at a private place, But it's usually so expensive (average of $100) that it's not worth it.

Onyxgem10 don't wait go back asap! and have them check the site thoroughly! If there's an oozing or odour! Let a swab be taken for lab analysis! The fever you feel is a symptom of an infection, and could be fatal if not treated asap! God forbid it for you Na so my own start.

I used it for during my first 2months. But when I exhausted it, couldn't find it in pharmacies where I stay. The 2containers I used was sent to me from Abj. I guess pharmacies there stock it . I had to take pregnacare. Here in my town, pregnacare is readily available. There are some very goood brands of prenatals than the pregnacare we often hear about. But they are not available here in Nigeria.

That might be true for the UK Sha. I'm not sure about that. But here in the US, Nuchal Transluscency scan and anomaly scan are done at the same time around 18-22 weeks. They do both at the same time, it usually comprises of 2-3 blood draws few weeks apart and then the NT anomaly ultrasound at the end of it all.

Even at that, most insurances here in the US only covers 2 ultrasounds per pregnancy so if you want another one, you will pay out of pocket and that's an average of $100 or as high as $400 depending on your location. I had an OB appointment this morning, and I specifically asked my doctor if I will be getting an ultrasound to know baby's weight, he said no. So far you're not high risk, do not have GD, your fundal measurements are not above or below normal, You get an average of 2 ultrasounds and no ultrasound to check for baby's weight. Lol

I hope your are drinking enough water to help soften your stools so as to reduce pains when stooling. Constipation is the last thing you should have when having piles. Remember to lie more on your left side too to encourage blood flow to the affected area. Its almost over Dear

Agreed, You sometimes get different services depending on the area you live and the individual hospitals. And they keep reviewing the advise so what the norm was a couple of years ago or even six months ago can be reviewed and changed this year. Not sure how long ago your sister had her last baby.

When i questioned why only 2 scans, I was told, the extra scans were not deemed neccesary in a normal pregnancy, and although there is no concrete evidence to suggest multiple scans affects the baby, the current advise was to keep it to a minimum.

In addition You also have about 6 or so visits to your midwife, but scans are not included. They only listen to baby's heart beat, measure your bump, do an optional weighing if they think you are putting on too much or not puttingnon enough and just a general chat about your general welbeing and advise session. After about 30 wks they start checking the position of the baby as well.

However, if you are worried for whatever reason or maybe you are not feeling the baby move or you had a fall or whatever, you will ofcourse be given a scan. Although as na government hospital they have to book you into the system and that takes time. Except you go in through A &E. Most people go private for their additional scans or to do the 3D and 4D scan that they use to chop parents money!


I ended up having about 6 or so for a variety of issues and needed monitoring by a consultant... lost count after the 4th one! Was so glad after i was "discharged" back to my mid wife and told i shouldn't need any more scans till birth.
