Am only responsible for what I said, not what u make out of it. If u think I called u a fool, that probably because u're one already |

Seyi signs in dissapointed...........I am reporting here today not as a member of NCAN but as a seriously concerned Nigerian.Nigeria has a long way to go, this is what happens when Nigerians in the diaspora think they have every right to lay claim to presidential appointments without having blended in or developed a sense of commitment and patriotism, then she would be wondering ''what does the national anthem have to do with ambassadorial duties, the vetting committee is clueless", well you are partly right, if thts what you think(but i am certain thts what you think since you could not recite fully the Nigerian national anthem),as they are not directly connected, but indirectly being able to recite the national anthem is pre-requisite for developing a sense of belonging to the Nigerian populace, hence the sense of empathizing with your compatriots, since you can easily forget such basic things, and you do not feel any need to relearn it means you can easily alienate urself from other people sharing ur heritage when you find what you crave for in a foreign land. Meanwhile being able to recite the national anthem does not directly mean patriotism, but an inversion of the quoted statement is true, at least basically.Most ambassadors have failed in their capacity to stand for their people as they fall victim to discrimination and assaults abroad. So my humble submission is that you do not deserve to be an ambassador, at least for now, first you need to learn the national anthem, also if you are largely based overseas, there is no reason for not being able to get ambassadorial appointments at your country of residence, in fact it is more appropriate to make appointments that way, but if that is the case, how have you shown fellowship as a domiciliary of that country? I know people like you do not fraternize with the mainstream, but i hope someone will pass on this message to you. "People without a sense of community cannot make a society"(remodified from bukom banku's words) ..........................Seyi signs out |

The fact is that the senators asking others to recite national anthem cannot recite it as well. It is easy to laugh at people because they can't recite national anthem. I am very sure even the president can't remember the national anthem. Most of the ppl making noise on nairaland will still stutter when asked to recite it, that's even if they know it. |

Land of rising sun, we love and cherish,
Beloved homeland of our brave heroes;
We must defend our lives or we shall perish,
We shall protect our hearts from all our foes;
But if the price is death for all we hold dear,
Then let us die without a shred of fear.
Hail to Biafra, consecrated nation,
O fatherland, this be our solemn pledge:
Defending thee shall be a dedication,
Spilling our blood we’ll count a privilege;
The waving standard which emboldens the
free
Shall always be our flag of liberty.
We shall emerge triumphant from this ordeal,
And through the crucible unscathed we’ll
pass;
When we are poised the wounds of battle to
heal,
We shall remember those who died in mass;
Then shall our trumpets peal the glorious
song
Of victory we scored o’er might and wrong.
Oh God, protect us from the hidden pitfall,
Guide all our movements lest we go astray;
Give us the strength to heed the humanist
call:
To give and not to count the cost’ each day;
Bless those who rule to serve with
resoluteness,
To make this clime a land of righteousness. |

This is a critical palava and its needs urgent attention. Can you imagine! These people from the rising of the Sun are missing it, to the extent that they can no longer recite the national anthem of their fatherland. The President of NCAN has promised to send qualified and competent teachers to that region to teach them the anthem. My name is Balarebe Musa, the national Secretary of NCAN. Reporting life from our national headquarters in Maiduguri. Stay with us for more tori. |
