AF Nigeria Bundesliga 2015/2016 Hamburger SV Hamburg back for 8 million Euros-rated Nigeria star Ndidi by Samm Audu Saturday Jul 30, 2016. 15:27 German Bundesliga club Hamburg have returned for Nigeria midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, who has now been valued at eight million Euros by his Belgian club Genk. As first reported by AfricanFootball.com, Hamburg first tabled a bid of six million Euros for the defender-turned-defensive-midfielder in January which Genk rejected. Premier League club Watford have also enquired about Ndidi, whose super strike against eventual champions Club Brugge was voted as the best in the league in Belgium last season. Interestingly, the 19-year-old player from Nath Boys of Lagos cost the Belgian club a mere 200,000 Euros when they bought him in January 2015. This week Genk blocked the Nigeria star from featuring at next month’s Rio Olympics and this may well be the turning point in the possible transfer of the player during this transfer window. Genk have insisted he is not for sale, but in a recent interview with a Belgian football magazine regarding the possible transfer, the player stated that he will work with the advice of his advisors on this issue. africanfootball.com/news/634777/Hamburg-back-for-8-million-Euros-rated-Nigeria-star-Ndidi |

Nigeria U23s Return To Training In ATL; Praying Manna Should Fall From Heaven https://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/football_pics/86038Madu.jpg Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that the Nigerian U23 National Team returned to training on Friday evening, having skipped their workouts for about two days. It should be noted that the squad resuming training yesterday was not as a result of the story published by this website, as the players were preparing for training as at the time of writing. The 20 players trained under the guidance of manager Samson Siasia and the session lasted for about two hours. Meanwhile, players and officials remain stranded in Atlanta, don’t know when they are leaving for the Olympic Games in Rio and are praying for manna to fall from heaven. Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi has left the training camp and it is envisaged at this point that he will not return to join the team. The Nigeria U23s will now depart Atlanta, United States of America for Brazil on Monday. According to an official statement by the NFF, the earlier arrangement was for the team to depart for Brazil in batches due to difficulties in securing seats for the team, but the NFF decided against that movement and they are now thinking of either getting them to Brazil as a team or chartering a private plane to take the team directly to Manaus, venue of the first team’s first match. The Olympics is here again! MY WORST AND BEST MOMENTS OF PAST OLYMPICS. Worst moments: Seoul 1988: Nigeria 0-4 Brazil. Nigeria paraded a highly rated squad of some of the then young emerging players. Some players from that squad(as far as i can remember): Sam Okwaraji, Emeka Eziugo, David Ngodiga among others. Coming fresh from a 4-0 defeat suffered at Chile '87 WYC, we all applauded as Nigeria was drawing 0-0 at half time more so as we were d better side! The Brazilian coach made 2 substitutions at half time and the rest is history. Romario and Bebeto tore into shreads our defense exposing David Ngodiga and we conceded 4 goals! I wept! ![]() Best moments: Atlanta 1996: Brazil 3-4 Nigeria. It was the semi final match. Nigeria featured a highly talented and experienced squad. It was like a complete super Eagles team without Rufai, Finidi, Iroha, Keshi & Eguavoen( the later 3 names were already rounding up their careers). Imagine a team that had Amuneke, Amokachi, Oliseh, Kanu, Babayaro, Ikpeba, Taribo, Okocha, Okparaku and Okechukwu, In one starting 11 line-up! Brazil had Bebeto, Ronaldo De Lima, Cafu, Ze Roberto, Roberto Carlos, Joninho, Dida among others. Brazil led 3-1 at half time. Our only goal was even an own goal credited to Babayaro. Okocha blew away a penalty in 2nd half. Ikpeba pulled a goal back to make it 3-2. And at the stroke of 90mins Kanu worked his wonder and scored a kind of goal even Messi and Ronaldo of today would nt b calm enough to score. A counter attack in the first half of Extra -time ended it as Kanu volleyed the ball into d net off from a through pass from Victor Ikpeba. I wept for joy & jumped down from d balcony of a storey building to celebrate with my friends who were already setting the streets alight with the song "Ose, Ose o, Ose o, Ose Baba!". We won d final bt d joy was nothing like the semi final win over Brazil. Guys lets hear ur experiences. Dnt mind me, I am old school. No matter how old or recent it is, lets share. cc: TheGooJoe, Tbaba1234, Joseph1013, safarigirl, Bascovanveli, confun, lakesidepapa, forgiveness, other forumites too |

Icon4s:Best game 4:3 Nigeria Brazil... I remember starting this game with my dad and younger brother. At half time, both of them went to bed so i was left alone to watch the second half. I stayed awake not because I thought we will equalize but because at that point, I did not feel so bad about a loss. Penalty, penalty... Nigeria was given a penalty late into the second half... Jay Jay Okocha stepped up and missed it... All hope was lost... I was muffling my screams and abuses on Okocha.. It was late afterall. Then up stepped Ikpeba with some hope... Terrific finish... By then, the Brazilian coach thought he had the win in the bag and had withdrawn Ronaldo Delima. Jo Bonfere brought in Teslim Fatusi, who had been influencial in qualifying. He also brought in Oruma.. Nigeria was going for broke.. Last minute, Okocha with the traditional long throw... Fatusi scuffs his shot.. fell to Kanu who gently lifted it over Dida.... Goallllllllllll!!!! All alone, going crazy by myself while trying not to scream.... Golden goal time... Nigeria was in full flow, there was only one winner. Off the back of Amokachi, Kanu picks it, drags it to the left and smashes home... Goalllllllll!!!!!!! Unbelievable, we are through.... After jumping around by myself in the parlour like a monkey. I went to wake my bro... We won..we won.. Outside my house, were the songs of victory... Winner o o o, winner... as fans sang the night away.. Unforgettable. |

Icon4s: Worst Dream Team game I watched during the Olympics was Nigeria vs Chile. We lost that match 4 - 1 with a highly experienced Ivan Zamorano leading the attack of Chile. That was at Sidney 2000. We went to that competition packed with talented Stars. From Pius Ikedia to Aghahowa, Agali, Igbinadolor, Godwin Okpara, Goalkeeper Greg Etafia - new Peter Rufai (who was part of the young high flying Lobi Stars), Okunowo, Azubuike Oliseh, Aiyegbeni, Garba Lawal and Babayaro (Bonfere Jo brought two of his left footed Atlanta boys), Furo Iyenemi, Blessing Kaku. With Azubuike Oliseh suspended because of his uncontrollable temper that earned him a red card in the game before, we lost the work rate in the middle. Our key penetrating player, Pius Ikedia was off his game that day. The guy barbed this magnificent, Sun reflecting skin cut that day, it was as if we watched a new Samson lose his power after he lost his hair. 3-0 down first half and we labored through a torturous second half wishing for an Atlanta Miracle that never came. I watched that game with Coach Monday Sinclair and the man analysed the match throughout the game. He pointed out positional errors, wrong triangle movements. Even though he was a Nigerian official coach, he stoned annoying remarks throughout the game. Funny thinking of it but it was a painful day. After the Olympics, Furo Iyenemi came to visit Coach Monday Sinclaor and young boys in the area chased him away. "That Guy Killed Us At The Olympics." They chanted, forgetting he was the Coach's guest. Best Olympics game. Nigeria vs Argentina (Atlanta '96 finals) I can imagine your minds going, why? Over Brazil? The Brazil game was a special, miraculous and an unforgettable game. Unlike a lot of Nigerians, I missed the game. I was in a boarding school and the staffs held us back in school for too long. We were in school for almost two weeks after other schools have gone on long vacation. I had an exam the morning after the Nigeria vs Brazil game. I had to study while students trooped in mass to the Houses of the Academic staffs in the school premises. I read through the loud echoes of sighs and joys. So much gisting of the game the next day. We closed a day before the final. I arrived Port-Harcourt the day of the finals and I was not going to miss the young heroes who channelled their confidence all over the continent. The Argentine team fielded Super Stars, Crespo, Ariel Ortega (New Maradona), Claudio Lopez, Zanetti and like the Brazil game, it looked an impossible task. 2-1 down in the game, the Dream Team never gave up. With two goals by the Super Eagles veterans, Amokachi and Amunike, Africa finally did it. I witnessed a miracle. An African team were the Champions of Olympics football. Unforgettable joy. Two of my neighbors came out with double barrel guns and shot in the air. Seconds after the whistle, the streets of Port-Harcourt flooded with people. The main Express way, Aba Road became a sea of people. Nigeria was United that night with one goal and one Dream. Delivered for Africa by the Dream Team. |

Not long after the finals, I watched the Nigeria vs Brazil match. Even though I knew how to match ended, I wondered after Okocha Won the penalty how we were able to win that game. I am yet to soak in that victory. It feels like the sweetest dream. A Super Star squad with the World Best player of that period, Ronaldo, defeated after they were two goals ahead. When you think of Juninho, Rivaldo, Bebeto, Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Flavio Conceicao, Amaral, Dida. That was amazing. Miracles do happen. |
