not so. from the best of my guess, the sponsor have made money from voting by SMS short code and advertisement on media. we have millions of people glued to their tv screen following this, you can see the comments here on nairaland. i dont watch all these but you need to ask your self would the literary promo by etisalat pull such returns? how many people who even studied literature in Nigeria would be able to be in line with the rhetoric and word play by the participants? the literary competition would be judged by the academic echelon while music goes across board among the population.

I believe such contest are ways of paying back the society and not necessarily avenue to make money

Again with relation to this particular contest, if you check the website of the telecom companies they have a page where you can solicit for support and sponsorship for events that meet their requirements. This particular contest may not be owned by them but they being the major sponsor.

But i get your point though...

cornel has a good voice yes but he was too confident didnt push himself to do better,nonso's performance were all over the place and weird chike wasnt versatile i said it from the begining imagine him singing pull over in a finale who does that and couldnt perform it well i was like whats going on here i wouldnt buy the song on itunes patrick did well but definatly not the best he struggled finally arese grew in the show same with vivianne they always wanted to push themselves most of the songs arese did if others had done it it may not be good shes versatile,challenges herself i voted for her cos i saw her growth and wasnt supprised she won
