sirt1: Hmmmmmmm as good and easy it sounds, the risk is still there. One family did such and after 5 abortions, the husband ran away from the wife got married to anothe young AA lady. Where do u think the former wife will start from at age 32?

AA AS AS SS

though in some cases i have seen all the children were either AA or AS in some worst case scenario the children were all SS

the AA an AS children are not the problem , its the SS child whoma I PERSONALLY refer to as a VISA to HOSPITAL, POVERTY and MARRIAGE BREAK DOWN

VISA TO POVERTY many people do not know that it takes about an average of 25,000 naira per week to manage an SS child, this amounts to about a 100,000 naira per month, imagine such an expense for a couple that has a salary of like 150,000 naira. just calculate 100,000 naira per month for like 10 years of marriage.. brethren that is poverty knocking at your door, this is another reason to avoid such marriages

ADOPT simply decide with your wife that your marriage is not for procreation rather it would be for companionship, the adopt a child/children and treat them the way you would have treated your own actual offspring... its not easy but its worth it

IVF in vitro fertilization, here your wife is fertilized with the sperm of a donor, the advantage of this is that you get to choose the characteristics of the donor that you wish to see in you child like tall, handsome, STRONG FACE etc.....

STEM CELL TRANSPLANT here your own child would undergo a process which can lead to genotype change...

NOTE: it is an expensive process and to be sincere i cannot vouch for nigeria as the best place to do this

Op u can risk the marriage cos with my little research,u can only give birth to a sickle cell but d problem is d sickle cell can b ur first child. If only there is how to knw if it will b d third u can then give birth to just two kids. The solution is not to risk it cos d luv u hv for d guy will fade when d problem start

Good decision u took there. I ended my 7yrs relationship cos of genotype issue. Though it was very painful to walk out of such relationship, but I must tell u, it was d best decision I took then. Today, she is happily married with twins and me too, with my adorable daughter.

There is a biological way and it is controversial. Once the lady is pregnant, it is possible to test the amniotic fluid in the womb to determine the fetus's genotype. If it is SS, abort.

1.IVF- only wen the concept us is found not to he SS it would be implanted
2.Antenatl daigmosis- choriomic villus samploing etc, the genotype of the baby inutero will be known and if SS U'll be provided with option of therapeutic Abortion
3. Take the risk and if the baby comes out to be SS , u plan towards home transplantation
4.Adoption, foster care etc
