Nigeria: A country were buying Car is still a miracle. My brother just went to Australia to school and he also works in a factory by offloading 2-3 containers of bags with at least a weight of 25kg, have bought a car, and fully insured. Who remembered the guy that was crying when his range rover caught fire loooool. If he had done the normal thing he shed a tear because insurance will get him his car back. There are rules, law and order of doing things, Smh 4 Nig.

Oh, I do not have a belief system. I am known more for my disbelief in all religions. Especially yours smiley

Why do you think YOUR religion is better than the over 4,200 religions out there?

Prayers !
Yes, why not more prayers ?

In a land where charlatans like these two are celebrated as national heros, what other solutions do we have to deal with common existential issues than prayers from the same charlatans ? undecided

Nigeria is a fantastic place.

Every type of fraudster has his/her own niche market, his/ her own peculiar racket . Whether you're a Yahoo boy/ girl, a senator, a political jobber, a small church fraudster or a megachurch daddy GO, each one has a specialized racket and a specialized customer/ Maga base.
You made some points but the moment I sensed that you are one of those followers of the son of shame, they became useless points. The problem your religion has brought to the world is more than what one can imagine

Bishop Oyedepo was one of the invited Ministers who came to join Pastor W.F Kumuyi at Abuja National Stadium few days ago for the National Day Of Prayer for Nigeria.

in the sense that you have hatred towards your own race (i'm using you're black).
Next time do not generalize a whole race just to prove a petty point.

No offence taken grin

Au contraire my friend, non-believers very rarely keep mum on religious issues on blogosphere because of the anonymity that the virtual world offers everyone of us and to be honest, I don't expect them to keep mum, my issue with the non-religious is that they are becoming exactly what they consistently rant about.

Do you have a problem with freedom of expression? A Jehovah witness can knock on my door and I can equally slam my door in his/her face, in my part of the world, people do not preach on buses or disturb the peace of others without being penalised. You can't have a party in your house and make noise without your noise making equipment(s) being confiscated and maybe even fined, unless of course you want to blame our collective lack of political will to make our leaders accountable on the religious.

This is where you are mistaken, being a minority does not give anyone a free pass, our political leaders are a minority, ISIS is a minority, it has not stopped them from oppressing the majority with the majority being almost powerless to stop the undue aggression/oppression.

I have thought about it and still do darling, I have a lot of respect for you as a poster but on this one I disagree with you. I am not even a fan of the Nigerian MOGs, my view on them is gist for another day but my issue with those who oppose them praying is this, they are pastors, praying is what they do! Why is that an issue? Nigeria's problem was not created by pastors, it was created by all of us and it is important that all of us to take a collective responsibility. What I see consistently on NL is the non religious' superiority complex and always wanting to pass the buck.

Pastors are a problem of Nigeria, just as women, politicians, lecturers, lawyers, bankers, civil servants et al are.

I am a married woman, if my hubby become a serial philanderer tomorrow (God forbid), many pastors will tell me to pray and look to God to change him but because I am not an idiot, I will not be looking to God to help me solve a man-made problem, I will put my brain in gear 1 and do practical things which will not stop me from also PRAYING grin

Peace out bro! wink

I was gonna type out this long rebuttal.. Then I got to the highlighted, smiled to my self and said 'fhuck it', SHE's RIGHT.. grin grin grin Then went to bed to snuggle with my pillow.. grin grin

Lol.. Seriously though, its extreme to draw a parallel between ISIL and Atheists. Atheists are simply standing up to mainstream religion that is and has been constantly being shoved in their faces daily from time immeorial. Hell's, these Religions have even gotten into Government. Now they want to control everything from Abortion, to forcing our kids to pray to their deities in school, to putting their beliefs on our currencies, to our justice system, to darn nearly everything.. angry How can you feel that Atheists that are not only minority but actually sometimes persecuted are now such a big menace just because they have started having the balls to challenge?! undecided

I walk into a business meeting and I am forced to stand up to pray before we commence the meeting, I am on a bus and one crazy dude stands and starts DTP of the entire bus and should I dare challenge him, his comrades at arms inside the bus who outnumber me 99 to 1 will literally jump me, In the subway station in Harlem NY, I met a Nigerian Christian woman screaming preachings to commuters, you park your vehicle to run into the grocery shop to grab a soda real quick and when you get back out, there is a religious flier sticking out your door handle. I have even been preached to inside an Aircraft right in the middle of a turbulence (No jokes this one).. angry The Plane was shaking like a tambourine at a Black Baptist Church and this dude next to me looks at me who was vibrating in fright and says "Should we die now, where will you spend eternity".. angry Like seriously Dude!! angry Right Now?! angry WTAF?! angry Meanwhile, MadCow is filing out his NYSC registration form and writes 'Atheist' in the religion column and the entire NYSC staff members take it upon themselves to either victimize me or convert me.. grin grin grin #TrueStory.

Anyways.. I was not supposed to type all this but I still find it hard to believe or agree that Unbelievers have grown to the point of now being considered a menace or a nuisance.

Thanks for the respect, you are actually one of my favorite Nairaland Bae's.. grin

Acidosis,
I remember a very memorable quote of yours.
The one in which you wrote
" Common sense is your enemy " ( when it comes to religion) .

With that quote in mind, I see clearly where you're coming from.
grin grin

Now, back to the issue.

In every nation, there are always a small minority of people who exist and live on the fringes of lunacy. These are not policy makers nor people who influence the direction of national policies.

Joel Olstein, T.J Jakes, Benny Hinn, Crefto Dollar, etc, are the similar set of charlatans that feed fat on the people on these fringes.

Now, here is the problem.

In Nigeria, the far majority of the population are beholden to magical thinking, and are permanently stationed on the fringes of lunacy.

For charlatans like Kumuyi and Oyedepo, these are inexhaustible resources to mine and exploit for huge profits.

In the countries that you mentioned above, men and women whose worldviews are anchored on magical thinking are not allowed to filter through their systems and occupy positions where they make decisions that affect the entire populations.

Aside from being daylight money fraudsters, these two men spread a horrible mental disease that takes many many generations to cure.

My guy, your head dey there.

But dont waste your time trying to explain this to religtards, it is a futile exercise. They just can't see it cos they are under that maga spell their daddy GO has placed them in

I don't know how old you are but if you have a father of Kumuyi or Oyedepo's age will you call him a challartan? You can make your point without being abusive. You don't have to agree with what they are doing but show some respect. On the issue of National prayers I will not argue with you, the things of the spirit can not be understood by canal beings.

I don't even know where to begin to respond to your last post. I am a christian with a live and let live view of life. I don't take the Bible literally and don't think anyone should. I am indifferent to homosexuals and ambivalent to the whole idea of heaven and hell. The point I am tryna make is that the non-religious and the religious are all culpable for the Nigerian problem, that peculiar Nigerian problem is the reason why you are made to pray before a meeting or religious folks may jump you if you openly refer to yourself as an atheist; it has nothing to do with religion or faith or prayers. Wo, I am tired of this matter, it's been a while since posted epistles on NL.

All nations pray so keep your mouth shut. Name one reasonable developed nation without a popular Pastor, you inferiority complexed never to do well black unthinking Africans who always associate their unethical backwardness with other peoples' religion.

Just shut up already. Why is Joel Osteen not receiving the blame for America's backwardness?

Why haven't you killed TD Jakes for the backwardness of USA?

Why don't you blame Yongi Cho for the corruption in South Korea you black 'brained' corrupt Africans?

My religion shouldn't be blamed for your redundancy.

White Christian Missionaries gave you schools, they gave you hospitals and all you need, yet you won't stop killing yourselves over nothing. They should have left you all in the dark where you all truly belong to kill twins and albinos for dinner and lunch; kill innocent people for a dead king in tbe name of abobaku while you terrorize your women and widows with oro cultists and never to do well widowhood terrorists in the east; you black, wicked, soul-less and lazy corrupt monkeys.

A nation where everyone calls God God yet they don't know Him.

Love is the greatest religion.

Other progressive nations practice love. That's why their citizens don't steal public funds like we see in Nigeria. That's why they have powerful institutions and fantastic public infrastructures.

But in Nigeria, we pray, but don't love.

That's why wickedness, corruption, greed, selfishness and materialism prevails...

...we started praying since 1960. What has changed?

Our hearts still remain the same- black as charcoal...
