My two cents.....to make high scores on the GRE (to ace it)....start with the Magoosh videos, watch all 280 plus videos to ""learn"" the tricks in the GRE...then move to the Nova Math Bible (if you dont have this you can use Manhattan) or Princeton and then use the Barron for the Verbal Section.....for the Analytical Section I also recommend an ebook authored by Mark Alan Stewart ""Answers to the Real Essay Questions of the GRE"".....the whole essays...it is a current book...and GRE will select an essay question from Essay Pool on their website......you can save time with this on test day....if you read the book from cover to cover

I dont necessarily have Premium magoosh videos for TOEFL but if you drop your facebook email, i would add you to a TOEFL facebook group. You will definitely find all the materials you need there.

Additionally, you can look it up on any torrent site. I guess you would find it there as well.

That would be a good idea but a whatsapp group prevents distribution of information that would benefit all. If i had created a whatsapp group within my friends, this thread would not come into existence and you would have missed out on a lot of insightful,important information found here. Hope i made some sense? At this moment, i think i would put an end to facebook gre and toefl add ups. I think 90% of the posts on this thread are for group additions. Where are the contributions?

You dont need the services of a third party to register for the GRE. With your naira visa card or paypal, you can do the registration yourself here: https://www.ets.org/gre/revised_general/register/computer/

Hell No!!!! There is no single best book for the GRE. Each book has its strength and weaknesses. Combine them all for Maximum impact.

Barrons - For beginners and fundamental explanation.
Manhattan and Nova - For Large question bank.
Kaplan - Excellent for AWA only!!!

Thanks. Is it absolutely necessary to take the TOEFL too? With the current exchange rate, writing the two is quite costly

except you download it using utorrent...it is a heavy file (1.4G).....you have to install a software called Bitlord on your PC etc

Thanks @ DanjaNinja....I strongly believe we Nigerians can make it.....with a combined score of 320 plus and an AWA score of 5.0, you are good to go for a PhD admission and full scholarship......for most Ivy League schools this is all they require (they usually place a very strong emphasis on the GRE) and a CGPA of at least 3.5/4.0

There is this wonderful book by Professor Julie Prosselt "Inside Graduate Admissions".....a most read for international students ...where she interviewed several Graduate Admission Commitees on the criteria they use to select students.....and do you know that Graduate Admission Committees place a preference for Minorities (Blacks, Africans etc) and American students?....they use the same standard for these two groups and use a higher standard for the Chinese and Indians (because some ""believe"" they cheat )
