To be sincere this is good news but it will be highly welcomed if the name of the company that produced can be published so that we will not beleived they are refilled rice.

Da truth, all those rice are not enough to feed the people. And again only one major importer can buy all the bags including those that are not yet harvested. To me it's like all those rice been bought by rich men and ready to sell it to consumers at an exaggerated price and sharing the profit with the government. Just like what they did to cement.
Why are we still buying a bag at 17k despite this?

it's a good step, but the government should just provide enabling environment and policies that will encourage foreign investment in rice production in mass in nigeria that's all...

Eg imagine the fuel, generating set, servicing that those factory is wasting but if there is adequate steady supply, then it will cause the half of the power funds of the company to be used in other areas thereby boasting the production and reducing the price for the market

Why won't Fayose be giving out Rice to Ekiti people cos we are now producing it....I'm definitely looking forward to taste this rice with Andrew liver salt around the corner

The rice from anambra and ebonyi will have issues because they imbedded their state into the rice. The igbos should learn from the northerners on this one. Stop bringing tribal differences into your business, it kills the business faster. All the rice from the north does not have the name of the state on it, learn from that. Imagine if we have Lagos rice, delta rice, Akwa ibom rice, imo rice, Kogi rice, Abuja rice and borno rice, tell me how it will sell. ..Mtchhhhww

Imagine the dude always putting his pix on every stuff in the State.

Last year I visited Awka Government House and to my surprise I saw about 55% of the staff wearing clothes that has his picture on, as if that wasn't enough, I also saw an inscription "Willie is working" on a flyover.

The fact is he personalises every of his achievements like a super celebrity. cheesy

Rubbish.
Is the governor going to destroy the milling plant after he leaves office? Another governor would simply put his picture.
Giving the capitalistic and business mindset of my igbo people, if i were an investor, milling plants in the east is where my money would go. They would outlast the rest of them .

I love Ebonyi (Abakiliki) rice is really delicious that's what me and my family are eating since a bag of foreign rice is 20k.......they call it stone free,is really good,I guarantee it. Nigeria don't know where to invest their money,let BUHARI keep searching for oil in Chad basin

Good development! We're gradually getting there, where we will be self sufficient in rice production. I know the current increase in price of rice is due to sustained ban on imported rice. This will help boost local rice production and further encourage our local farmers. Keep it up, tough times never last but tough people do.
