Hello all, please help clarify this.

I am working on getting myself set for the EA but I ran into a connundrum.

I have a B.Tech Electronic / Electrical Eng. And M.Eng Electrical Machines and Power systems from Nigeria but save for 5month internship as a trainee engineer I have never worked as an engineer.

I only have banking experience however, it is specified in the EA route on the MSA that evidence of skilled employment is required .

Find attached and kindly clarify @ bellong and co.

I guess it is Self explanatory; if you write any CDR based on work experience, you must provide proof... that's all.

Hence avoid writing CDR based on work experience cos you'll have to submit proof of employment which must be a minimum of 12months.

Must be a minimum of 12months?

What if the career episode is based on an internship that lasted 6months?

It's a different scenario if you wanna claim points for experience. Otherwise I don't think it has to be 12 months.

You probably didn't understand what Deleyi said because he already answered the question.

It is written clearly on EA's website that you can write your CDR on university project, internship etc. If you write it based on this, you don't have to supply any employment evidence. If you write it based on work experience, then you have to supply evidence to support your work claim.

In essence, you have no troubles, just write based on your MSc project, internship and BSc project. There you already have 3 career episodes.

I believe Engineers should take advantage of this and assess as soon as possible. I foresee that very soon, EA like others will require experience.

How will someone advice you on what he/she has no knowledge about?
If you have read the thread well, you wouldn't be asking this question as it is general And not specific to any occupation.

If you need information about teachers, check the skill list for the teaching position you are after, then read the requirements on the assessing authority's website.

Not until people are spoon-fed would they be able to do something simple as reading.

I can recommend you put your CPD in excel format while others are safer in Pdf format.

Standard of living isn't affordable anywhere in the world. However, if you plan your life well and make informed decisions; you'll have the best experience in Australia.

Where do you people get "dem say" from?

If you can't save while you are at home, you wouldn't save if you are abroad irrespective of the country.

If you have read the thread, you would have seen that this question has been answered before.

Yes you can save and no you can't save. It depends on how flamboyant you want to live. Nothing stops you from saving.

Regarding CDR:

You can use your Final Year Project. If you did a Design and Construction Project, You can Split the project into two Career Episodes; One Episode would focus on the Design while another would focus on the Construction.

Also, if you decide to write a Career Episode using your Internship, I honestly don't know if you'll be demanded to provide proof of any kind.

Finally, I hope you have either TOEFL or IELTS (General or Academic), they are the only accepted English Tests by Engineers Australia.

NOTE: Ensure You have your 'Original Bachelors Certificate' and Transcripts

Please house.. I need help from u guys seriously... I have read through, again and again and i think i just need some experienced guys in the house to help me through....
I completed my Bsc Politics,Philosophy & Econimics ( combined honors ) in 2013, served until 2014.. Between then and now, i have only been into business ( no work experience ), i am 27 at the moment, and i am ready to write PTE or IELTS I really want to move to Australia and eventually get my PR... My problem goes thus...

I can not find any relevant occupation my degree fit into on the SOL list, so i doubt i could go in through being assesses from here.. I haave been advised to go through advanced diploma route ( Aged care/Community services ) and then after 2 years switch to a degree in Nursing... I also got another advise to go for my Masters as that gives me better chances of getting PR , i was even told i can start a new degree once and for all from here.. Note i will be sponsoring myself and i have a total savings of 4 Million Naira.. I have been briefed about some few Uni's that does not require account statements for admission processes... I just want first hand experience advises from Gurus in the house on WHAT TO DO? MY BEST OPTION ? AND HOW TO GO ABOUT IT? Or lets just say... WHAT IS MY BEST OPTION TO GET PR, based on my finances... Pls.. help a brother..

cc bellong deleyi20

To be honest with you, I can't tell you what to do but i can give you information that will make you decide what to do.

Firstly, with the current continuous depreciation of the naira, It is a huge risk to attempt to come here to study if you don't have a back-up plan.
Finally, You need to study all the options you listed out yourself to see the opportunities it offers you and the financial costs to make a very informed Decision regarding your most suitable pathway to Australia... Cheers bro.

Thank you for the quick word regardless. Means a lot.. Just a quick one!!!... Do you have any idea if truly Advance diploma ish may lead to PR if that route is taken? It is cheaper for me, and since i can work a bit while studying, i can save as well... I just want to be sure i'm not being led on about this Advance diploma thing

PPE triple honours, I guess you finished from Ife.

Since your profession is not on the occupation list, study option is another alternative available to you.

However, many people just believe once you study you automatically get a PR or the process is easier than applying straight. First, your course of study must be on the list, after your study apart from EA, you must get at least a year experience from the nominated occupation before you can get a positive assessment.

What study does is give you 5points.

For community service, aged care, youth worker, you only need AQF qualification for the occupation. If you want to do diploma, you can look into diploma in Youth work, lot of job opportunities there across the state or Diploma in Family, child and youth intervention or so..

Nursing is also a very good choice.

My advice is make sure whatever course you choose is on any of the occupation list and there are states sponsoring it.

Bro.. Thank you for the response.. You are right i graduated from Ife... How did you know though? Diploma in youth work, Diploma in Family , child and youth intervention sounds good to me as well , i have gone through some of these.. Nursing on the other hand, i do not know for sure if my SSCE is good enough for this or my academic background. I had a D7 in Biology..lol... Does that disqualify me from studying Nursing at Degree level in Aussie?

Based on my present finances and having no immediate sponsor... i think Diploma might be the immediate solution...

Hoping for another response from you Sir...

Thank you very much for your time. However I need some advise.

Egbon Bellong pls assist to with your input.

I have a B.Tech(Hons) Electronic/Electrical Engineering and M.Eng Electrical Power.

Now my B.Tech major was Communications and digital signal. Altho we did all courses with those that majored in power, it was just 2 courses at Final year that determined those who had a Power Engineering major and Communication Eng. Major.

Now all my career episodes are based on Power Engineering. I am afraid if I apply with EA for Power Engineering I might be considered unqualified considering I did not major in Power but majored in Communication Engineering in my undergraduate.

I am afraid my M.Eng Power may not count since the assessment will be based on B.Tech.

Altho my degree reads B.Tech(Hons) Electronic/ Electrical Eng., should I be worried that EA might disqualify me for not doing the two major power courses at final year under grad and opting for comms eng. Instead ?

Pls I need good answers to help me decide I do not want to thro money away in this buhari economy abeg.

Jbonito,

I graduated from Ife, I know only the university runs that crazy course.

There is diploma in nursing too and I don't think your D7 in biology can be a disadvantage.

@Guitarlife,

Add your masters degree, at least it will proof your recent experience in Engineering from the long hiatus in banking.
It is the strength of your CDR that you should be worried about than whether they will give you power engineering. If you write a convincing CDR, you will surely get it.
