Hi all,

I am a full fledged physicist but I also delved into a lot of things, Programming, Wired and wireless networking, Mathematics, Electrical/Electronics and now finally FINANCE. You all know that as physicists, our quest for knowledge no de end.

I plan to be a quant and recently wrote my CFA L1 exams. Dont tell me I lost focus. If you see the Quantitative Methods and Portfolio Management, its all pure mathematics and physics. You will use poisson distribution, correlation, regression, skewness, kurtosis, confidence interval, variance, standard deviation AND pure calculus etc to Model returns and risk of an investment and summarize what a stock, porfolio or investment will look like in future.

It was very very very very interesting for me because I had a fully quantitative background and eventually turned to a lecture among my finance peers because IF YOU WERE NEVER A PHYSICIST (ANALYTICAL), YOU CAN NEVER BE/THINK LIKE A PHYSICIST.

I am very proud that I studied physics and If given the opportunity to go to university again, I will definitely do a double major in PHYSICS/ACTUARIAL SCIENCE/QUANTITATIVE FINANCE.

Meanwhile, I work with a firm where I crunch all their data and tell them in simple sentences what the figures and trends are saying,

Wow.. Nice one....am still an undergraduate in year 2 studying physics. you guys are encouraging me.. I'll put more effort and graduate with good grades and follow you guys to the top...

Okay Mhen, I would inbox you with all the information you would need. Just make sure your transcripts, both bachelor's and master's, and letters of recommendation, very nice ones, are ready.

Who knows, you could just be lucky! smiley

hey brother, I am a physics undergraduate and I'd love to have you as a mentor. Can you email me? Jonathanidegbe@gmail.com thanks

I have been reading this thread from the first page.
I am a student of industrial physics, federal university of agriculture, Makurdi. I will be graduating in March-2016 with a first class by God's grace.
I am looking for an ICT/Telecom institute where I can work as a trainee even for free, to gain relevant knowledge and skills.
I also want to know the best telecom training I can enroll for a start while awaiting service.
Thank you for your help in anticipation.
smiling in the quantum realm......

Hello Physicists! and every other person(s) in this
thread. Actually in my 1st and only UTME last
year I chose to study Civil Engr. in one of our
Federal Universities Probably I didnt meet the
Cut-off(the cut-oft wasnt published) for Civil
Engr. I was offered Physics which I chose to
study. I am now through with 100Level(2.1). I am
interested in specializing in "Instrumentation &
Control". My questions are: 1. How lucrative is
that area of specialization.
2. How do i build myself to become a professional
in the aforementioned.
3. What other area of Physics has higher
prospects than the aforementioned.
Thanks in advance.
By the way, I am 17

Hello guys, i greet u all. Pls am just new here. I was searching for job opportunities for a physicist when i came across this forum...i must say u guys ar really doin great here, wish more grease to ur elbows. Am a graduate of industrial physics (2014), done with youth services. Because of the love and passion i hav for physics, am longing for admission in any foreign country where i can do my masters in electronics or medical physics, and research works in physics since physics is not that booming in Nigeria. Pls if anyone has a trusted link to country or countries dat offer admission for masters & research in physics, the person should inbox me at: (romeoelectronics5@gmail.com) and i wil ever greatful. As a matter of fact i really appreciate what u guys are doin here, it's really making pace for our physics graduates & undergraduates. May God bless us all as we strive to make dis world a much better place to be wit our knowledge of physics. Most of all, i still maintain dat 'physics' (the fundamental of science) is d best course ever... Three gbozaaaaaa for all the physicists in the world...dey hav really made dis world a better place to be...

I'm a Physicist and a certified CCNA, looking to further get CCNP, but most Faculties are CCNPs and can't really deliver the CCNP... Phisicist are really great thinkers and highly feared...

When I tell someone I studied physics, the reaction I get is, "these mad ppl", it so intimidates people. I don't tire for those reactions, I just need the job to fix ur network issues...

I don't need a Masters, just certifications in IT networking .. Need a job too, kindly revert if you have a good advice.

Greetings guys.... As a physics student, and its time for you to pick a major at the undergraduate level... You have these 1) theoretical physics 2) condensed matter physics 3) health physics 4) Geophysics which of these options will you choose considering the situation of nigeria. Which one has a better future and which one is better off abroad and lastly,as someone hoping to go into electronics in the future, which of them fits better for electronics. Please, answer according to the criteria above and please dont mind my grammars. No insult please

The difference
Physics is more deeper and appreciate physics more than physics edu.
Physics you get b.sc. The other you get b.Ed
In physics education you its all channeled towards education.
With physics education you cant do geophysics, solid state, condensed matter, astrophysics, and many more if want to further in these specislized area.
With physics education quantum mechanics will be boring.
Physics education is classroom excepr favor and miracle you get the others job.
If want to be strickly an education.. physics education best fits the hole

please so you mean that physics education even though studied in the university and not college of education they don't get to study physics like physics only ?

with physics alone can i easily get job like physics edu in nigeria

AND also with physics only and not with edu can i work as a lecturer

also with physics compared m EEE which has a better chance of employment?
