For me respect is not as important because people are not that generous and it doesn't add vallue. I can live without respect so long as you keep it to yourself. This especially applies to the workplace and similar arenas.

The disrespect I find offensive is where a person goes an extra mile through actions or words to make sure you feel their disdain.

Besides, respect is not demanded. It's not something you can force people to have.
