Hey house,

I filled FirstBank's Form A since early July but till today the transfer has not been made. The business manager told me the transfer has not taken effect. Please how long does it to get the transfer done?

MrsDaniels:
But if one takes the uni accomodation one can pay from the maintainance money? Am just asking thou to see if i wanna consider it as an option i have the required 9135pounds in ma acc. Justwise pls my sch also gave me a discount of 1000pounds from my tuition fees. Am i to print out the email acknowledging that when i submit my application?

Yes you can make a deposit for accommodation from your maintenance money but check for the maximum allowed by British embassy.

You don't need to printout the email acknowledgement because that info will be in your CAS

I also applied on the 4th and got the same mail. Don't be worried. Just wait for the 15 working days. I guess it's because this is a peak period and they have so many applications to process
Hi mcstar. did you get your decision mail today?

BarryJones:
Thanks
Please can I also pay my Tuition using First Bank Form A.?
I was planning to use Diamond Bank, but someone on this forum discouraged me, saying Diamond hasen't approved any Form A since August 4th.
Please how long will it take with First Bank? & whats the current rate.

worry359:

You should have applied when the rate was lower rather than be guided by strangers here.
At worst you might have been refused, you may have paid by now.
Now you are starting fresh with the rate rising.

Also no good asking the rate here, by the time you get to the bank it will have changed again.
Stop asking questions and get to the bank to do something tomorrow.

here is the question he asked today, and here is my reply some minutes later:

BarryJones:
Please House

I went to Diamond Bank today to inquire about using Form A to pay my tuition.
I was told I will incur the following expenses:

1. 1% + 5% VAT of Naira equivalent.

2. $25 CBN charge

3. 5000 Naira Telex charge

Please did anyone experienced this?
Is this how its done? These charges are high. I might have to look for an alternative.

My honest opinion to you is the charges are negligible compared to your school fees, and your major headache right now should be whether they will pay your fees in time. FORM A is no more as quick and easy as it sounds. Diamond bank seems to be your best option at this point. but I must also let you know they have not been able to deal any FORM A since 4th of August. so if you have any alternative that is NOT form A, use it.
If form A is your only option, then I advice you go with Diamond bank. but ask the house if anybody has had any success with form A recently, if yes, thne use the bank they used.

I also heared Firstbank can do a swift transfer to your school, and they will charge you at a rate slightly higher than CBN, but when I went to Abuja branches, they said you need to have a Domiciliary account.

If you are in Lagos, just find out (I guess you can do it in Lagos. you know connection helps a lot).

@Barryjones, you can still do the form A tomorrow, I do not want to be the person that discourages people o. I am just giving you information for you to USE AND MAKE YOUR OWN JUDGEMENT.

Thanks. I got my decision email later today though.
But I am a bit afraid as there is a line in my email that says "If anyone contacts you advising that your application is still under consideration or that they can influence the outcome of your application in any way, they cannot - please report any such approach to VisaSheffield@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk."
Pls is it like that for everyone?

Thank God the CBN intervened. It's now 431 naira for £1 on Oanda. Hopefully the emergency policy from the president will pull through this week to save the Naira. Remember my prediction that it will drop before the crazy fluctuations started in the evening. Let's hope today's live market will be more stable, so prospective applicants can apply tomorrow. If your fund is up to 28 days and you calculated with 432 and above, please apply immediately. All the best to the house.

Best option is to get someone in the UK to pay for u, then u transfer the money to him/her. That was how I paid every damn thing. No time for bank hassles.

BarryJones:

Please

1. Can I use Form A to pay for my accomodation?

2. Can I use Form A to receive my upkeep and living expenses when I get to UK & open a UK account?

Thanks.

The first attachment is the right one to be used. As you can see, it implies that 1pound is equal to 431naira for today and not the second attachment. That then means that the home office actually use the first attachment. Therefore anyone who has a balance to payup or his or her maintenance fee should input the figure in pounds on the right and will then see the outcome in naira on the left.
Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by MrsDaniels(f): 10:48am On Aug 23, 2016
The first attachment my dear i got when i put pound on left and naira to right as currency i want to buy. Whch is wrong i guess cos its naira we all have not pounds and we want to buy pounds. So i guess it shud be 1naira to get equivalent to 1pound.

So which do you think is the right one? Well all this while I have been putting pounds on the left and then naira on the right but some guys came here yesterday and said it should be the reverse, which is the first attachment. The whole thing is just confusing. So please which do you think is right?

I think this is actually the right one. Pounds on the right and naira equivalent on the left.
