emeldamicheals:U present both passports But u leave the country with d blue passport and enter with the green passport.. But they'll ask for the two... Buy her ticket with the American passport cos that's what's giving her access to the UK. |

Hello Everybody, Wanna share myself and my wife's experience. Yes i am guilty as charged (@omobendel24 et firsttymum), only 3 posts in 5 years so i can safely be termed a "Ghost Reader". This thread has been of immense help and i am glad i found out about it albeit a little late after mistakes had been made. In January of this year my wife and I found out WE were pregnant. We were so ecstatic and after much deliberation, decided we wanted to have our baby in the US. I applied for a B1/B2 visa for Wifey and indicated she was going for a vacation. She got her visa in Feb 2016 and everything "seemed" to be on track until my brother told me to check NL for useful info regarding birthing in the US. It was after reading from Part 1 to 4 of this thread, i realized the enormity of my error and its costly implications. Lemme pause for a minute to say this; From my experiences growing up and hearing people talk about America, it was always about going for Holidays, Vacations, Universal studios and Disneyland. So i applied for her visa (first time i ever did) with that mindset (Still not an excuse for what i did though). After reading this thread i understood that it would constitute a total MISREPRESENTATION of facts if we didn't use the visa for its stated purpose. We then decided that wifey would go for a brief vacation and fulfill the intentions for obtaining the visa but the pregnancy had other ideas. From late Feb/Early March to almost end of June, Wifey was in and out of hospital almost every other week. Ailments ranging from Malaria, to dizzy spells, to outbreak of boils and other infections, to unusually high sugar levels, plagued Wifey and there no way she could travel during that period as her Doctor and our family members totally forbade it. Towards mid to end of July, we became frantic as ticket prices spiked and it no longer made any economic sense for her to travel since we would be unable to afford for her to travel twice in the space of two months (Wifey's EDD is approx Sept 5 or thereabout) So after reading this thread we decided to send a change of intent mail, even though from all indications it no longer held the kindda clout it used to due to its overuse and abuse. In the email,i explained our predicament and asked that the intent for the visa be changed. We got the generic response from them and there and then i made up my mind that instead of wifey running the risk of potential deportation, possible ban and associated physical/emotional trauma, we should have our baby here in Nigeria. But Wifey was adamant. She said it was an honest mistake (If there is any such thing) and we didn't know any better then. I argued that Ignorance of the law is not an excuse, so we shouldn't risk it. Little did i know that i was arguing with a brick wall. Wifey stood her grounds and said we should go on ur knees and pray, that God sees our hearts and might be merciful to us. So we started praying.... Fast forward to 21st August (This past Sunday), i took wifey to the airport. She flew Emirates Airlines Lagos-Dubai-Houston (Oh and by the way Emirates didn't accept the port health fit to fly cert both in Lagos during check-in and in Dubai too. So wifey had to use a medical report from her OBGYN which luckily was in her possession). She got to IAH by about 9:45pm Nigerian time, 22nd August (i was monitoring her flight). We had already decided that wifey should answer all questions posed to her by Cbp, honestly and truthfully. Cbp: Good afternoon Ma'am. What is the purpose of your visit Wifey: To give birth to my baby girl. Cbp: (Looks up sharply at wifey) Place your fingers here (captures her Biometrics and photograph) Cbp then beckons to a lady and tells her to take wifey to a room for secondary inspection. After waiting for 5hours; Cbp: What did you say is the purpose of your visit Wifey: To have my baby Cbp: Where is your final destination Wifey: Mississippi Cbp: Do you have any correspondence with a doctor? Wifey: Hands over all email correspondence. Cbp: Do you have any insurance? and how will you be paying? Wifey: I am paying out of pocket. Cbp: How much cash do you have? Wifey: 6xxx dollars plus an additional 4xxx dollars in account. Also i have a receipt from the doctor showing an initial payment of 1xxx dollars. (she hands over receipt) Cbp: Can i see cash? Wifey: shows him cash and also bank statement Cbp: Do you have family in Houston? Wifey: I have cousins, an aunt and lots of friends. Cbp: How long will you be staying? Wifey: Until the end of November. Cbp: Ok. Keep all your receipts and he stamps her in for 6 months. (I may have missed out a few things while recounting her experience but this is majorly what transpired) Wifey is presently in Houston and will be proceeding to Mississippi in a few days. A few takeaways from this experience; - From the get go, please be totally HONEST about what your intentions are. If we had known about this thread from the start with its wealth of information, we would done things very differently and thus never have gone through this roller-coaster ride of emotions. Until this point i had never been more afraid and worried (trust me it takes alot to work me up). And to the man who after reading this thread still went with his family to the embassy and lied about his intentions, I wish you what you wish for yourself. - God indeed does answer prayers. He answered ours and for that we will be eternally grateful because trust me it takes the grace and favor of God no matter how much you think you have covered everything. I say this because a close friend of mine (He is a US citizen) told me his sister who wanted to have her baby got turned back last month at Chicago POE despite having visited the US on several occasions with the same visa and having more than enough funds to cover expenses (There may have been more then meets the eye though). She traveled with her parents who were stamped in while she was held for 24hrs and then deported back to Nigeria. She had her baby a few days later. Some folks may be wondering why the choice of Mississippi for childbirth. Well we lived there for over a year when i was sent to do a course. So we are quite familiar with the lay of the land. We will share useful information a little later about the hospital and the doctor wifey is using. It is looking very affordable for now but once i am POSITIVE that it really costs what they say it does, i will share the information accordingly. I know its a pretty long read but it just might benefit someone out there thus my decision to share. (We had already decided to share our experience regardless of the outcome at the POE in Houston). We are grateful to God that it worked out unto good for us and we pray it works out for everyone else. HONESTY IS KEY. |

CBP: How are you today me: am good CBP: WHERE WILL YOU BE STAYING IN US ME: 1 WEEK IN NEW YORK WITH FAMILY FRIEND TO REST AND WAIT FOR HUBBY, THEN 2 MTHS IN HOUSTON IN AN HOTEL CBP:CAN I SEE THE HOTEL RESERVATION ME:GAVE HIM, CBP:HOW MANY KIDS DO U HAVE ME: I HAVE ONE,5 YEARS OLD CBP: IS THIS THE 2ND ME:YES CBP: HOW MUCH DO U HAVE WITH YOU ME:2850 CASH AND 4K IN USD CARD CBP:WILL YOUR DAUGHTER BE COMING WITH YOUR HUSBAND ME:NO SHE IS ON SUMMER LESSON CBP:WILL SEND YOU TO SECONDARY INSPECTION, DONT WORRY JUST PROTOCOL, YOU WILL BE OUT SOON. ME:THANK YOU OFF TO SECONDARY INSPECTION My name was called. same line of question CBP asked me to sit and said she just want tto discuss with her supervisor. After like 5 mins, she didn't call anyone or stand up to go any where, she called me and gave me the riot act. make sure u pay your bills and always travel with the receipts whenever you travel with the baby and future visa applications. they didn't ask to count the money and I was on my way. It was God and lessons learnt from this forum. Thanks to all the mamas |

Hello peepz Entered yankee thru Houston Poe,got on the queue, got to my turn, handed over my passport Cbp:what you here for? Me:to hve my baby Scans my fingers and asked me to step aside, someone wld attend to me shortly for more questioning...my heart do gbim gbim A guy came and marched us to to the priority processing office,i sat for 1hr before i was called upon Suddenly i heard my name, went into the office with my bag pack Cbp:when is the baby due? Me:sept... Cbp:how much do you hve with you? Me:8000dolls and...he cuts in and asked fr my hosp correspondence I was asked to step out Sat down for another 2hrs He walked up to me and said i will be with you shortly, waited for another 1hr until i was finally called upon He then said"when next you are comin to the USA, you need to pay your 300 dollar for doctors correspondence. ..luckily for me in my email correspondence i specifically asked if there was no form of prepayments and if thats all i hve to present at the Poe I then cut him off and told him if he goes thru d email correspondence. .he cuts in again and said"yes,he cn see where i mentioned it He finally said"am gonna clear you ,make sure you dont take any insurance and when next you comin to the usa, make sure you come with all your reciepts I dashed out feeling relieved, went to claim my baggage ,agriculture didnt even open my baggage, they let me thru,,took my connecting flight to Chicago...while other preggy moms were bin questioned like they were criminals,i wasnt questioned,i just sat for hours not knowing what my fate was..thats even worse.wld have preferred plenty questioning. ..them deport one lady who looks like shes gonna pop her baby in no time Thats is my story ooooo I give God all the glory.... |

You will need to use the US passport when buying ticket and when travelling out. You will need a Nigerian passport for him/her to travel back to Nigeria except you to plan to get him a visa in the UK. emeldamicheals: |

@ Biollar : I have missed my darling Atawewe International. @ House; It so sad that one cannot really plan much in Nigeria these days because there are bigger factors at play. The instability is so much. All of us were going about opening accounts in anticipation of PTA only for some of the banks to be suspended. I got USD 8K for my Mum and I from one of the suspended banks on Friday evening. I didn't bother to update the house because I knew it was simply God that used some of our connections for us. I didnt want to send anyone on a wild goose chase. I am thankful because it was such a narrow escape for us. The dire situation right now even makes the American dream more important for our children. May God save us all. |

debby516:Yes na! Didn't u know? Last xmas, I was invited for a small party at the Consular General's home in Ikoyi. It was during the brief chit chat I learnt dat those places (embassies and CG's abode) are american soil, so technically if a child is born there, he is a US citizen. by the way Consular General is not the same as Ambassador. I had no idea till that day. PS: Na work carry me go there o, as omo ise tinz! I don't know anybody there o, before they break my PM. |

Abuleoshi:I swear I don faint with laff. I think they will bundle you out to the nearest Nigerian clinic. Btwn labor and delivery is a few hours na, not like they are on an isolated island. But I still think it's urban legend, like you said. It hasn't been verified by an actual real life experience. |

My people, my people!!!! 2nd missionary starting successfully! Trip started frm PH airport, got there and dey said port health person was not around dat I should go to FAAN clinic, paid 1500 for fit to fly. Peace air didn't even disturb. Told dem 26wks...lol. got to abuja airport and Turkish airline held back my boarding pass that I must bring fit to fly frm Abj Port health. So I got there, d nurse on duty asked for doctor's report. Told her I didn't av and gave her the ultrasound report I did dat day. She put the correct date there; 33wks+4days. Paid 1500 and took it back to the airline to collect my boarding pass. I entered LA today at 1.30pm US time using Turkish airline. The airport was quite full so I followed the express queue since I was with my toddler. Meanwhile, my toddler kept singing 'twinkle twinkle little star' for the man. My baby was exceptionally good! I've been so worried how I ws goin to cope travelling with him. No disturbance at all. He ws even pushing the trolley with me ![]() The CBP asked only 2 questions: if I was a student wen I had my toddler in Texas last year and wat food did I carry since I ticked yes on the custom card! That's all o! Stamped us in and off we went. No secondary inspection, no agric, notin was checked! God is good and LAX is a sweet POE ![]() Got to baggage claim, Turkish didn't bring my bag that contained my foods and others. Stepped out to get somethings for my son and by the time I returned, dey av sent the bag to my hotel cos I filled a claim form at the airport. Congrats to all on your successful POE stories! God will crown our efforts with outstanding success. Concerning this visa on arrival, I stopped by at the 'visa on arrival immigration office' at abuja and enquired. They said it is for Business Investors Only! |
