the 1st vehicle hits a bump in the road while speeding and seems to me it lost its axle.
The 2nd vehicle was following too closely and at high speed rear so ends up ramming the 1st vehicle.

from the video it seems 2 tires on the right side of the 2nd vehicle got bust or may be jammed, however this should not have rendered it immobile .

people in the 1st vehicle surely got injured , with the driver surely being out of action.

later in the video the people in the 2nd vehicle seems active because the turret seems to have been rotated plus a open hatch is visible from which a person ran out to be killed later.

the 3rd vehicle humvee? though looks like HUMMER to me does not stop and speeds on to escape.

1. it might have been an planned ambush , but chances r slim
2. if it was an ambush than the first vehicle must have ran over some chained spikes , still with run flat tires it would have escaped , also no immobilizing ditch/trench is visible. this scenario does not explain how the axle broke .

the hauthis must have been there already , guarding the road and they jumped at the opportunity.

also what sort of combination is this a wheeled IFV , a hummer and a light vehicle ?

even with 90mm gun 50 cal machine gun plus personal weapons they should have put up a fight , most importantly they completely lost their situational awareness and failed to locate the enemy . they were inside the vehicle for too long. They were completely buttoned up.

if vehicles r disable first thing is u should dismount after taking stock of the situation from inside as quickly as possible. move to a defensible position and keep the enemy at bay while planning exit by any means possible.
it least they would have a fighting chance and not end up killed like rats.

combination of cowardice, zero situational awareness and poor training

also fancy , shiny equipment's don't win wars .
saudis never hold technical and user trials before selecting a weapon system. they just buy it and u see the result now

That was a damn ambush. What were you expecting out there? Return fire while they are still trying to get out of the vehicle? The terrorist had to suppress them with RPG's.
not withstanding d Saudi military are a sorry set of pple.I douth if those were RPG look more like recoilless gun

Showed to to a MRS guy. He pointed out the LAV following distance was to close.

A lot of solders died in Angola and Namibia in learning dont speed. Thpugh that was more because speeding + landmine = flipping. Any case problems where the LAV going to fast to close to avoide the crash. After the crash they stayed buttoned up when you should dismount and attack. The vehicle any is a big target and will draw fire so dont be in one if it is trapped.

Yes it was a ambushe and they showed zero effort in conducting a counter ambush drill. In SA the troops disembarked and lay down supprising fire while the 60mm mortars and grenade launchers zero in. Then you attack.

Those guys would have died anyhow. They were ambushed from both sides of the mountain. What i don't get is, why are they running away, they have all the equipment they need to fight with, so why run away?

They got Humvee, the sub-standard vehicle from Georgia and an IFV, so why bolt?

They could of one. In angola a platoon of Parabats escaped a entire motorised infantry brigade.

In CAR SA forces where surrounded in a urban environment and escaped.

Sub standard training. I have seen video's from the war where they use a G6 in direct fire. So yeah Arab armies not the best armies.

Suppressive fire doesn't look like something that will work there . Two convoys down already and the terrorist had to keep firing. That convoy was hit already except they were able to get out, suppressive fire wouldn't work. The Humvee action shows cowardice.
I expected those in the vehicle hit to disembark and start something suppressive but seems they were locked in there.

Maybe it it wont maybe it will. You not what does not work. Standing still waiting to die. They did nothing but cower in there own graves.

To vehicle's down does not mean every one in side is dead. In Mogadishu during the hole black hawk down event after the crashes the injured crew and passangers fought back.

That guy was able to stand fully exposed and fire a AT weapon at them. One guy shooting there could of kept there head down. Suppressing fire is not to kill but to distract and pin the enemy.

The Humve was smart. He kept the correct following distance to avoide a crash and he may of been following the doctrine for a ambush. If he stoped what would be the out come. More dead Saudi Soldiers. At least if he is clear of the kill zone he can help.

He observed that Bangladesh has a lot to learn from the
Nigerian Armed Forces and lauded the CDS for his

Forces for successfully degrading the Boko Haram Terrorists
in the North East and tackling other criminalities in Nigeria.
He solicited cordial military bilateral relations with the
Nigerian Armed Forces.

While welcoming the delegation to Defence Headquarters
(DHQ) the CDS, who was represented by the Chief of Policy
and Plans at DHQ Air Vice Marshal Bashir Saidu, assured the

Kenyans recruited by alshabaab Involved in Somalia Hotel Attack – Intelligence Report
MOGADISHU, Somalia — The Kenyan intelligence service has revealed the names of three Kenyans whom were said to have been involved in a deadly suicide car bomb and gun attack on Nasa-Hablod, a popular hotel located at Km-4 area in Mogadishu on June 25, 2016.

Issack Ibrahim Dyati, Yussuf Abdi and Issack Gola from north-east Kenya, including Mandera, were responsible for the July attack in Mogadishu that left at least 20 people dead, including deputy minister for environment of Somalia, Buri Hamza. The three men had been fighting for Al Shabaab for almost two years and were trained in Somalia to take part in the group’s attacks against Somali and AU peacekeepers (AMSIOM).

An official in Jubbaland State of Somalia, who did not want to be named, has confirmed to ArmedPolitics about the report, and he said that the Kenyans were killed during the hotel siege by Somali security forces.

The Kenyan Intelligence report said that Al Shabaab is enlisting more recruits from Kenya than any other country in East Africa. Police are working out how to keep teenagers out of the hands of recruiters.

In the past few years, Al Shabaab has intensified its recruitment of the mostly Kenyan youth and other pastoralist tribes from the larger Isiolo County to beef up its ranks.

Al Shabaab operatives within Isiolo town have recruited mostly young and unsuspecting school girls and boys.

American training from the 1990's that got institutionalized in the Saudi Army

Their doctrine was to allways clear the ambush - ie dont stop when the bullets start flying - and then when clear you dismount and counter attack. It is a doctrine designed for Europe - where there is lots of cover - so its easy to just push through, dismount behind a hedge or house and then counter attack.

Here you can see them doing it in Iraq (footage starts when they counter-attack after clearing the ambush)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-TyEaDCp7w

But this is what their doctrine was BEFORE Afghanistan - where mountain passes and vast empty deserts mean that you have to drive 15min to get clear. So they updated it to: Dismount, Suppress, Egress.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJQ9efp7-ek

But the Saudis, who dont think for themselves, have just blindly followed what the Americans taught them in the 1980's and 1990's and this is what you get.

Moral of the story: Learn what the instructors tell you, then apply it to your circumstances - evolve the knowledge.

The doctrine makes a lot of sense if you have the surrounding cover to depend on, as you stated. It makes sense that way.

Leave the ambush area, strategise then counter-attack. No guinea pigs, makes sense.

The thing is, from the video, the Saudis weren't carrying out any doctrine, they were actually fleeing, fleeing the area. This is the issue.

Moral of the story: Gucci kit doesn't come with battle tact or bravery.

This is also your field right, electronics and secure communications? In essence what's he going to do for DHQ, what areas of application are they looking at?

That's fantastic. I read his interview and the quite intelligent questions you asked him. The navy operates a similar advanced C4ISR system, maybe even the Air Force. If the army comes onboard with this, this would greatly improve battlefield management. He's optimistic the army would finally come in this september. Although he had already signed a "research" MOU with the Army.

Our military would be far better for it, he has the system, he has his component suppliers ready, he's met with signal corps of the army, the army only now needs to give him the go ahead. There's still a lot of money he can make from selling to other vendors.

It's a pretty comprehensive C4ISR system.

Yea thanks! He is sure going to make alot of money from that. Nigerian military is stepping up it's game on technology nowadays. I just hope the military can step up her game by adding capabilities such as Electronic warfare; radar jamming. Us navy started using the AN/ALQ 99 since 1972 and this is 2016 Nigeria should have Electronic attack capability already. We can make use of this technology by jamming remote controlled IED therefore reducing the risk of troops convoy being hit. I had succes developing a jammer that Works within some bandwidth by saturating the receiver with white noise therefore making the receiver confused. However with the resources I had I was only able to operate on low frequencies . So I just relaxed the project till the school grant me access to some labs. Hopefully before this year runs out I will be able to continue.
