This just shows how accommodating we are. but it is hard getting a job in iboland if your not an indigene. Talk about favouritism.

Gov. Amosun knows the importance of Igbo people in the growth and development of Ogun state.

As a Yoruba man, in order to understand how important this news is , try and apply to any of the South East states civil service commission, get the offer of employment first before you dream of becoming a permanent secretary..
Yeah I remember trying to go for interview for a job in that region. From the outright you could perceive that those of us from the other tribe are not welcome. Everyone of those post was given to one of their own.

And how long will it take for this to happen, we always hear tunes like this whenever this issue comes up but the whole world knows that it will never happen. smh
Been there done that! Enugu became a municipality in 1956 with Umaru Altine its first mayor.

Igbo people have been accommodating since forever. It was only after the war that things changed and that's only due to not being fairly included and reintegrated post war. If people are saying they don't feel welcome anywhere else except their homeland and now some has broken ranks to make all people feel included I will laud the move and now look to other govs to do the same.

We have over 256 ethnic groups in the country. I'd love for the people from all of those to be in positions of power. Our present system of misrule is a direct symptom from politics of ethnic and religious chauvinism.

honeychild:
Really.....and you are saying g this with a straight face grin grin. The only result that will come out of this is "we own Ogun state"."without us Ogun cannot survive". "Ogun state is no man's land" etc etc
Obviously you are talking about Lagos. That was once the capital. It was built up with money from the entire country. Land is indiscriminately sold and settled. Foreign companies have set up shop. A plethora of languages are spoken. Lagos isn't even an indigenous word. If it was named Eko I doubt the same would be said.

Furthermore, the heritage of Lagos has and will always be respected as a Yoruba land. But in terms of national presence yes it is a no man's land due to the contributions of everyone in this country.

As long as we continue to fragment ourselves along these imaginary lines we will continue to lose. I mean no disrespect in any of my statements. It's all love.

[quote author=LoveMachine post=48985592]The Enugu mayor thing has always been the only response to this discourse, but that was in 1956, old skool. We are talking 2016 please and we all know it will never happen, reason many yorubas no longer buy the idea of non-indigenes taking up appointments in the south west.

Inagwa umu Igbo ka ha nota uno ha noro ebe'hun ne zuzu....just imagine the smearing hate that is oozing out of this thread, just because of common appointment, as if he is going to repatriate his services to Igboland. I just wish this country will divide right now; we are not truly one. We keep deceiving ourselves every day.

What an idiot. How many of other Nigerian tribes go to other places and work off their socks like igbos do? Do you think people are made permanet secs on charity? Ask yourself how many years that Igbo man has stayed in Ogun and how much he has contributed to their state and you wont make idiotic comments like this, Igbos work and earn themselves respect and honour where ever they are, other tribes should watch and learn.
For Christ sake can't you be civil when responding to comment, the man merely pointed out that things like this rarely happen in the east and you started insulting. Isn't education suppose to bring about positive behavioural change in people who passes through the system but when I read comments like yours on nairaland I have come to realise that most graduates are just certified in learning and not character. Why should it be difficult for you to air your view without resulting in the use of derogatory words

Thumbs up to Amosun for integrating oneness and competence into his administration; others should emulate this practice, especially administrators outside Lagos and Ogun States.

Good question, the sw governors themselves know that they themselves are not getting it right in terms of employment generation for the teeming youths which is always a good ground for their political opponents to use against them in campaigning for elections. The easiest way out to navigate this is for them is to pander towards ethnic sentiments which is the norm in today's politics. Have you ever wondered why despite going to campaign in markets dominated by igbos, they still go on to demolish or drive them away all in the name of development?

Forget all the talk of integration, its all politics to get the required numbers for their political gains, use and dump as usual.
You didn't answer my question. My question was why are you against their integration knowing their importance in Nigeria politics

I answered your question bruv, there is nothing like integration, its all politics to get the required numbers. Do you think the governor truly fancy the igbos that much. Just wait when they start demolishing structures again in the name of development except you don't get my point

People tends to be polite when they are having conversatIon with people they can see but the real you is who you are when no one is watching. So dear sir, you can't claim to be civil when your comment says otherwise. The real you is what you show people most especially on a platform like this where we are all hidding behind a moniker.
All am saying is, as a gentleman that you say you are let your conduct at all time, prove that you truely are under whatsoever circumstances, Please refrain from making invidious statement. Thanks

This is the one Nigeria we are talking about. Let us love one another, no matter your religion or your trible that is the time this nation will move forward and everybody will be happy. The Governor has done well. The Ibos don't believe in failure the have this believe that they will always succeed, even when they are about to fail, they don't give up, so Mr Governor, that Ibo man will not fail you. God bless you

OMAR12:
we are talking about another thing yo saying another thing, what was the reason for other tribe to be in south west, is it not Lagos and was Lagos the capital of Nigeria for more than 30 years or not. if not for the fact that there is less and less job opportunity in Lagos and the rent in Lagos is on the high side coupled with tax, no one would bother going to Ogun state BT due to the fact that Ogun state is the closes and u can come from Ogun to work in Lagos, that the reason for their population boom. just as every tribe is trooping to abuja what is in abuja aside from 100 percent government presences. so don't be sentimental when yo trying to make a speech.
Applauds.
But next time, understand the word 'perspective'. I expect you to give me tangible reasons why Igbos troop to Lagos like it's America; and not stay back in 'east'. That's the logical reasoning behind my question.

and if u still can't decode the reason from my answer, then u just keep quiet and stay away from my mention, why do yorubas as well troop to abuja.

Why are you mad? A governor makes a laudable step to unite the country and all you can do is talk rubbish? Someone has to extend the hand of peace and in this case it is a Yoruba governor in the SW. What's not to like? Now in the SE the same thing can be done. And then it can spread to the rest of the country.
Typical of your ilk; uncouth, abussive, doddgy!!
Address the issue raised!
Even if you don't have any cogent/concrete example for now, give instances/examples of how Yorubas are being consciously integrated in Igboland....how many have direct shop allocation from govt, how many are chairmen of CDA or landlord associations, how many CofO applications by Yoruba names have been granted in the last 10yrs?
Contextualise all these by checking them against similar accross Yorubaland - SouthWest.

Stop hiding behind your finger! We all see you!!
