Kidco is selling 50 books for N12,000 for children of different ages. You can choose to get 50 for yourself or share with other mamas in our area. A Mummy-And -Me group can also be formed in your area for hanging out and doing activities with your kids. I will find a link explaining more.

A welcome idea, more mamas should indicate too

Honestly I like mixing traditional stuff with all the modern knowledge I get online.

My MIL used hot water for me. I totally loved it cos I love massages. It was a free massage twice daily. She'd pay attention to my hands and shoulders (places that could hurt from carrying baby).

I love peppersoup so I drank all the possible types made by both mom and MIL. But I rejected pounded yam and pap. I cannot afford to fat. I drank hot water because my sister told me it's the only thing that would make me sweat, with all the after-birth pampering.

I used a girdle instead of tying and I love how the tight-stomach feeling forced me into portion control. Suffice to say I got my flat tummy back in 6 weeks, then I started eating anyhow when omugwo finished and now I've put on weight.

Honestly traditions I think just want to make your after birth period special like special food, special routine etc. I appreciate all the pampering and i don't envy oyinbo people and those in the diaspora that have to struggle alone immediately after leaving the hospital. I don't mind agreeing to a few empty beliefs to benefit from six weeks of petting o!

Besides some things work die. Why should you be suffering cleaning cord endlessly when there's a herb that makes it fall off in 2 days?
This brings me to this issue of traditional stuffs and this question goes to all the experience mamas. Is it good to turn a new born baby upside down after bathing the baby like our mothers do,they say it curtails fear in the kids when they are all grown.Responses please.

I massage my baby with hot water because I assume he loves massages like I do. He smiles all through. I bend his arms and legs because my grandma did same for me and i love how flexible I am. That bending is the difference between being able to wash your back, scratch your back, zipper your clothes without assistance, or not. (Abeg if you no sabi no go break your pikin hand o! There's a technique to it).

Grandma took care of more than 20 grand children and about 5 great grandchildren before she retired. MIL's mom was a traditional birth attendant. I don't joke with their advice o!

As for placebos, I'm guilty as charged. I just hate feeling helpless! I use gripe water (sparingly and not regularly sha). I even put white thread on his head for hiccups when I don't feel like breastfeeding looooool. DH hates that particular one.

I'm an ftm and my baby is just 10 weeks, but I've learnt to trust my instincts. Oh and to research endlessly...

Hi dear
I am also dealing with the same issue with my twin girl(diaper rash) and have been on Pampers sensitive from when they were 2 weeks old.but the rash started with teething poo.the only thing that also works is Aveeno diaper rash cream(use it at every diaper change).getting the (sensitive)diaper in Nigeria is not possible I checked everywhere.I had to utilise people around me going to the US,buy 2-4 cartons in varying sizes online via Sam's club ship it to them and pay for an extra bag,I also toss in clothes from Carter's.com and some Gerber 1st foods.it's not cheap to do this but I know mummy ain't buying any Tom Ford perfumes this year cry cry grin

Does it say from 4-6 months on the pot? If it does, it's fine. But if you can wait a bit till 5 months because introduction of solids is usually a time for constipation.

Ah please do not give any child sleeping tablet! There's no safe dosage for a toddler you are putting him in great danger. Wow. Toddlers are very naughty, mine used to wake up anyhow until recently because we were still breastfeeding. Let him cry it out, we had to and at least from 10.30pm till 5pm she's asleep (she wakes up and goes back immediately). We tried sleep training but she resisted until now.

Thanks sister. I appreciate your response. I will keep using the aveeno cream. I think I will have to try cloth diapers for now till it clears while trying to get someone to bring in the sensitive pampers.

gud evening mamas.

if he can eat swallow, like EBA, amala, semo , just feed him till he gets full. He will only demand for water if he wakes up.

I'm still battling with mine. My son is 22 months old, he wakes up at least 2 times to demand for food or water. He is a very light eater, his food is majorly pap and golden morn and it must be served in his feeding bottles.

pls don't give sleeping tablets. Immediately he wakes, try giving him the tea or viju fast, delaying the food can clear sleep away from his eyes.

you can put his food near the bed side.

Pele , he will outgrow it soon, Waking up every time is not easy.

I am interested in the book(s). My son is 3months old, how can he benefit from the book(s)? Does the book read out electronically when opened, plays music or I'd need to read out the orthodox way? Kindly elucidate, thank you.

I am currently in Ojo, but wouldn't mind joining the Yaba group, if it means asking someone to pickup for me.
