yes d yoruba nation has done more than u can reciprocate 4 igbos and Nigeria but still some of u r ungrateful, parasitic and refuse to acknowledge dat...come here and see for yourself. maybe u even live in d west like ur people sef.
Of all the names and monikers i have come to detest on this forum, yours takes center stage, you're so immersed in your loathing you continue to miss out on the bigger picture, which is the fact that whether you want it or not our country Nigeria is a ticking time bomb, and unless we decide to reach a common ground it will explode. Try to see beyond the vagaries of tribe and old sentiments when you make your points. You are not the only yoruba person championing for respect, desist from insulting tribes... As for every igbo person here, continuing to hammer the fact that delta igbo is igbo is pointless, do the deltans not know who they are, are the anioma people unaware of their ancestry, will you be the one to teach them their heritage... A true igbo man is not told he is igbo, it just feels right, when the igbos get their referendum, joining will not be about where your map or boundary lie, it will be about what you accept and believe. Do you think there are no middle belts who are igbo by marriage, or yorubas who are igbo by marriage, or hausas/fulani who are igbos by marriage and vice versa, think again... As for the delta igbos clamouring for separate individualism, it is your decision and no one else's. As for the yorubas, all i have for you is respect, i would be lying if i say i otherwise, i greatly admire their unity, their tolerance, their culture and tradition and especially their women, i have always secretly wondered and hoped both tribes will unite by some miracle (yoruba and igbo) i really hope i live to see that day. It is a shame our parents have sowed so much hate in our hearts that we rather die than show the other simple courtesies.... I shall continue to advocate for the great igbo nation and respect the great oduduwa race. God bless us all.

During my service years, I met a corp member, we were on a boat going to a community in Sagbama LGA. As she conversed on the phone, I could understand what she was saying though I knew her dialect was very different from mine. Elated I thought I have met kinswoman but she denied being Igbo claiming Kwale. I was like but I understood you. She maintained she's not Igbo in a way that made it seem we're quarrelling... I was instantly pissed off. I really dislike those segregation and denials. I concur with writer. We are all Igbos.

Another that makes me annoyed is the way Igbos from other states segregates Igbos from Ebonyi. For the love of God, we are all Igbos. Together we will be stronger. They divide us so they can rule us perpetually.

Let's rise above such mentality.

Igbo kwezuo nu!!!

You are truly dumb. Asagba has more respect than whatever crap village you come from. No amount of stating otherwise changes reality. The only and well respected monarchs of anioma land are both Asagba and Obi of ogwashi uku. The rest are irrelevant. The only other closest might even be the Dein of Agbor and he gets b1tch slapped and dragged and told what to do by the monarch of Benin kingdom...a complete joke that a king bows to another king...laughable. Don't make me laugh here with the rubbish you tried to sell
this is a very ignorant one. Nobody knows the two kings you mentioned there in terms of Anioma Royalty. They are both great men but in terms of royalty, nobody knows them. please stop saying what you don't know. Dein bows for no king. please stop spewing thrash.

So are you now telling me that my friend (whom I am so sure is from Agbor and speaks Agbor very well) does not speak Agbor to me, even after I have confirmed it severally? So are u now saying that I am a liar, even after I have actually gone to her village and heard her people speak the same Agbor dialect and I still understand it? Now let me tell u what my friend does: In order to to test my understanding of the dialect, she will just say anything in Agbor and ask me to tell her the meaning, of which I will do to her satisfaction just to prove to her that I actually understand it. So my dear, dont u ever argue with somebody about something he/she has personal experience of more than u, because doing so will definitely mislead you.

Honestly I don't see myself as an Igbo man. I am from Anioma and I wonder why it has always been like this. Most people I know from my side will deny the Igbo only to be betrayed by language ties.

It may as well be cultural mix with other tribes over the period of time that is the cause or perceived greed and love of money by the mainstream Igbo.

Please may I ask, why do these Anioma people deny being Igbo?

Lol. It just shows that logic/common-sense is foreign to you.

You cited Yorubas in Brazil and Cuba who got there as slaves and have since assimilated into their new identity.

Why can't Igbos who got to Delta as slaves do the same? Why're they trying to usurp the indigenous people there, who have Bini ancestry, by trying to turn them into Igbo?
How come slaves outnumbered indigines to the extent of exterminating indigenes languages, names and culture? Did Africans who went to America outnumbered Americans? Changed English language to any African language? I have been following your argument and I can't take your stupidity anymore!

and for your information I know these people more than you think because I live and dine with dem.
You may a faint idea about them, but certainly not an authority in matters that concern their ethnicity. Some of you should learn to stop poke nosing into matters that dosent concern you. As far as the Igbo nation is concerned the identity crisis being faced by many of our people in the SS is an issue solvable within and needs no help from outsiders. We know ourselves better than you think and will solve these problems in due time.
Now, let me tell you a little secret. Am not even from the SE, but from the SS. Yet when it comes to Igbo interest, I am always ready to defend it. Igbo etbnicity is not a thing of force, but Igbo unity and nationhood is non-negotiable as far as our stay in Nigeria is concerned. Divide and rule tactics won't work with us this time.

The problem is from the Ibos. They believe so much in autonomy. Every Ibo man or community wants to be on is own. You will here things like 'Autonomous Community of XYZ' etc. They forget the fact that pride comes before a fall. No one community want to be under the ruler-ship of another. And if this is not resolved, you will keep hearing names like; Anambra-ibo, Delta-ibo, Abakaliki-ibo, etc.

It is Igbo not Ibo

In any case, I'm not telling anyone here my surname nor will I share the name of my village. Why do you want to know?
you're not from Delta hence not an Anioma person but you've been mentioning your Bini influenced town and your Bini sounding name that I'm curious to know about it.

Ngozi123:

The person I quoted said that most Igbos in the aforementioned areas are descendants of Bini people. This is not true. There is a difference between having a small amount of Bini blood- intermixing isn't rare in a lot of places in Igboland- and being of direct Bini heritage, like that person suggested. My last name sounds a little Bini and I know that some of my ancestors migrated from Benin to where they are now. However, this was as a result of reverse migration; I'm not exactly sure why they went back to their original homeland in the East- I'll have to do some more research on that- but their 'Igboness' is undeniable.

As for your point about the locals using some Bini words to name their villages, well, that is to be expected considering that they must have spent several years living under the Benin Kingdom, in which the lingua franca was Bini. Its probably similar to how a lot of Igbos today mix some English words into Igbo- a poor comparison but I hope that you understand what I'm saying. We may have some similarities with the Bini people, that's what happens when you live under an empire, but we are not Bini.

Classic. This is the defining post I've been looking for. Agbor people better listen to this smart lady.
