German Born Nigerian Reacts To Reports That Nigerian Forward Is 17 Years Older Than His Official Age
Super Eagles and Mainz O5 defender Leon Balogun has reacted to news about Nigerian forward Victor Emenayo falsifying his age 17 times lesser than his official age of 23.

Owngoalnigeria.com picked up the story from the Azerbaijani media about Emenayo falsifying his age days after making his debut for his new side Shahdagh Qusar FK.

The Nigerian is 23 on his passport but checks on the internet revealed the forward also has a birth date that makes him 28, and his looks according to pictures and the media suggest he is well above 40.

Leon Balogun reacting to the news via his twitter handle used a typical Nigerian language popularly referred to as pidgin English to question his age claims.

”Chei!!, you dey craze?!” He posted.

It literally means are you crazy? and it was posted just underneath the story and the picture of Victor Emenayo.

Revealed: Why Watford Big Money Buy Isacc Success Was Called Up By Nigeria
Watford of England forward Isacc Success was handed his maiden call up by coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr, much to the surprise of all.

However sources close to the coach have revealed the reason why the former Granada man was handed his first call up.

Success has been sparingly used by manager Walter Mazzari of Watford this season, as the coach is gradually easing him into the demands of English football.

Some Nigerians have joked that his call up was inspired by his strong showing last weekend against Manchester United , where he made mincemeat of highly rated defender Eric Bailly.

”It’s funny when Nigerians discuss issues , how can he be called up because he dribbled Bailly? How funny?. His call up was based on uncertainty over the fitness of Moses Simon, who is yet to fully recover from the groin injury he picked up few weeks ago” the source said.

”He earned his spot in the team based on Ogenekaro Etebo’s absence plus the Simon’s case I talked about earlier. You can’t doubt his talent. He will add pace, strength and experience to our strike force.

”You need to watch him at Granada. He has been unfortunate not to have been called up in the past. This is his time to show Nigerians what made Watford splash big on him in the summer”.

Rohr: Why Rio 2016 Hero Etebo and Golden Boy Osimhen Were Dropped For Zambia Tie

Coach of the Nigeria senior national team Gernot Rohr has revealed to his close aides and associates on the reason why Ogenekaro Etebo and Victor Osimhen, were dropped from the list of invited players for the World Cup qualifiers tie against Zambia.

The duo alongside FC Porto Chidozie Awaziem joined excused Watford star Odion Ighalo as the major absentee from the list of players excluded from the team, who were part of Rohr’s last squad for the Tanzania tie.

”Etebo was not listed because people tend to forget that in the last two months he has only played once, no thanks to fitness issues. Too heavy a risk to take especially as we have lot of options in his role. Aside that he has issues regarding hs work permit in Portugal” a source told Owngoalnigeria.com.

”For Osimhen, everybody knows he is one for the future, it’s not to his best interest if he is once again called up and later dropped from the match day squad. He will definitely be involved with the team in subsequent games but for this tie, we need players with big game experience.

”Awaziem is another for the future, the dicey nature of the clash against Zambia made his omission a no brainer. Kenneth Omeruo took his place. You can’t place them on same level when you talking experience”.

Raheem Lawal was the best Nigerian player and best player at the U23 Africa cup but still no better chance. His current form speaks for him.

Kayode? I have not clamoured for his invitation yet but if he keeps performing well, why not?

Ajagun; 3 years with Panathinaikos-fc with laurels but no invitation yet but some without a club are busy wearing the number 10 Jersey. shocked grin

Now in Holland after been mocked.... we will observe.

Oshaniwa; If Madu could be called from one obscure league to the national team why not Oshaniwa?

Now, let us know yours, sir. grin Abi make I epp you? grin

You will not say that when the club released Ajagun that most of us said he would easily seal a deal with another club.

You make it look like the writings were all negative. My main guy Aluko who two weeks ago was in the Championship Team of the Week is not there. I did not complain.

I am a supporter of Oshaniwa but I did not complain. I believe the coach and his team will look into all and select the best that suits him.

Awaziem is another for the future, the dicey nature of the clash against Zambia made his omission a no brainer. Kenneth Omeruo took his place. You can’t place them on same level when you are talking experience

AF Nigeria 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers FC Porto
Jamiu Alimi talks up progress after he's picked ahead of Awaziem

Kano Pillars ace Jamiu Alimi has said he has made progress in the game after he was considered for next month’s World Cup qualifier in Zambia ahead of foreign-based pros like Chidozie Awaziem.

The likes of Awaziem, Victor Osimhen and Imoh Ezekiel made the squad for last month’s AFCON qualifier against Tanzania in Uyo, but have been left out of the latest call-ups by coach Gernot Rohr.

“Picking me ahead of Awaziem of FC Porto is the coach’s decision, not mine, and I hope to justify my selection," Alimi said.

“The coach has been telling me about what I can do. So calling me back again after my invitation to the AFCON game against Tanzania in Uyo shows that the entire technical crew is pleased with my development.

"Now I wish to come to camp and be part of the success of our first World Cup qualifiers in Ndola.”

However, the former Shooting Stars ace, who has posted brief stints in Belgium and Ukraine, will not crown a great year with a major trophy with Kano Pillars.

“I do not regret joining Pillars even though we will not end the season with a trophy,” he said.

“Pillars remain a great club with rich history and super fans."

Awaziem has been relegated to the feeder team. This is one of the reason I don't like Portuguese liga, German Bundesliga and Italian seria a. They are so unpredictable.

In this situation, I don't think he will get invitation.

You wanna know why this issue is still being dragged on?

It's because of the Other half of The English media who praises anything Manchester Utd.. As man utd is more of a traditional club in England than Manchester City.

Besides, I don't know the geopolitical zones of these players.

Example, I don't know where Simon Moses, Ezekiel Imoh, Isaac Success etc (though he bares a westerner name) come from before I clamoured for their inclusion in the Olympics football game or National team.

I am not against Isaac Success invitation but I said it must be based on merit.

Isaac Success was not playing regularly when this discussion came up. I insisted you can't drop Ighalo or Brown Ideye for him because they are playing regularly and inform.

That is just the point.

Is Rohr the white version of Icon4s?

See my brother, remember I said something yesterday. This is the first time in so many years that our best players are assembled. Not even in major tourneys like AFCON and WC have we had this.

The problem I had with Siasia, Keshi, Oliseh and back to Siasia again was issue of "my boys". You will go and field one 19yrs old defender and drop a seasoned experienced defender all because you want to promote your boy. At the detriment of Nigeria's qualification.

Immediately I saw Rohr's line up against Tanzania i knew the Glory days are back.

Too frequent changes in the team's setup has put bus where we are today.

Now to the issue of experience. In fact when I read that line that says you need the experience of the big players for a game of this magnitude I laughed and remembered all our debate on relevance of experience in football.

Our problem in the past ten years or more has been: We raise a crop of young players then when they have gained experience and time for us to reap from it we discard them and tag them too old. And then begin all over again.

The choice of Omeruo ahead of Awaziem of course is the right step na.. You can't compare.
At a point some peeps here said Awaziem was our best central defender, just because he plays for FC Porto. Even without a national team debute? I have said it that the likes of Awaziem, Awoniyi,Sadiq,Ezeh, Mathew, Yahaya should have been part of the Amuneke's Flying Eagles team. That is where we would have needed them more to do us proud.

Sir TheGoodJoe, experience is priceless in football.

Loooolllll.... League of Extra-ordinary hitmen indeed!!!!

This is indeed the future of football's next big terrorist attack..... We already have the best young players in Africa and some of them are without doubt among the very best young guns in world football....

I used to champion the "ISIS" just for Rio 2016.... (If they were to be available that is)....

Iheanacho, Success, Iwobi, Simon Moses

But nope... Simon moses to the bench... And in comes Osimhen.....

The "OISI"... Osimhen-Iheanacho-Success-Iwobi... With Kelechi Nwakali in the CMF role... And the best in the DMF role from among the likes of Ndidi, Esiti, Onazi, Chidi Nwakali (also CMF and box-to-box MF), Azubuike Okechukwu (also a CMF), etc... (It depends on who wins the battle to be undisputed no.1 DMF of the Super Eagles post 2018)

Bench wise... I expect to see the likes of Simon Moses, Musa Yahaya, Taiwo Awoniyi, et al....

Note: I see Osimhen walking into the Super Eagles post-2018...... If he makes it by 2018, great!!! But I see it by late 2018/2019 on an established regular basis.

TheGoodJoe:

I hope Osimhen developes fast too. I believe he is the last piece of the puzzle of the League Of Extraordinary Hitmen.

...........................Osimhen(CF)
.........Success(SS).............Iheanacho(SS)
...........................Iwobi(AMF)

I see this as the future of the Super Eagles by 2018. But, Osimhen has to pull one hell of a season at Wolfsburg to make the 2018 team. A tough task but he can achieve if he works really hard.

Ofcos Experience is important.... Experience is priceless.... But so also is Undisputed Precocity.

I remember when "experience" was the argument.... Iheanacho was the subject of discussion.... The "He's not there yet" was flying all over the place....

I remember a certain Eguavoen was asked about Nacho's quality by one of us in this house and his answer was so mundane... "He's a good player. Nothing more... That's all"

I was like... "Whaaaatttt? That answer is so myopic!!!"

And I insisted that Nacho was more than ready to handle Super Eagles Responsibility..... He only has five caps now and has 3 goals and 2assists to show for it and he's only 19.... Nacho's is a case of Precocity trumping years of experience.... He's a super special young talent.

Same with Isaac Success... Just see how he won't take long to adapt.

Same with Musa Mohammed whose turkish club wanna ruin him but he remains very special.... He's like one of our top golden boys....

Experience is indeed priceless and vital but there are exceptions where "Awesome" Precocity just outshines experience..... That's the truth.

So in Rohr's case... I support his decisions.... Omeruo over Awaziem is indeed a no-brainer...

And dropping Osimhen is also not a bad move.... He's our no.1 striker prospect for the future. He's only 17 and will be 18 by december I believe.

Success has to come in... And space for his debut call has to be created as Iwobi was also returning to the squad so Osimhen's drop is understandable.

Experience rules 85-95% of the time.... The other five to fifteen percent always belong to that special young gun who just knows what to do to make an already experienced side even better..... That's awesome precocity. smiley

TheGoodJoe:
For Osimhen, everybody knows he is one for the future, it’s not to his best interest if he is once again called up and later dropped from the match day squad. He will definitely be involved with the team in subsequent games but for this tie, we need players with big game experience.

Awaziem is another for the future, the dicey nature of the clash against Zambia made his omission a no brainer. Kenneth Omeruo took his place. You can’t place them on same level when you are talking experience

Is Rohr the white version of Icon4s?

I was part of that crew. I became more frequent here after KON was closed down.

I will never forget the Nigeria vs Ghana, Zambia vs Ghana, Nigeria vs South Africa bashing and quarrels. The Ghanaians and South Africans hatred for Nigerians was too much.

There were times I would avoid that site if results didn't go our way. It was crazy menn...

Chai whatever happened to kickoffnigeria...

Really nice to see some of the crews here.

I was not the one behind that moniker though I was active there before it closed. In fact, na wetin make migrate come here be that. But I didn't participate or engaged in those fights.

Alright bro. Nice to meet here again after the closure of kickoffnigeria.

I was one of the warlords fighting SAs, Ghanaians and some Ethiopian wannabes. It really was nasty but fun then. Oh! How badly I miss those days. Collynzo2 and I even took it as far as Ghanasoccernet.com bashing Ghanaians when Iheanacho and Co were dismantling teams enroute the UAE.

At a time, the Ghanaians left and Ethiopians took over. A particular Ethiopian guy made a total nuisance if himself shortly before the site was shut down.

Nigeria Highest Earning Football Player Isn’t Iheanacho Nor Mikel, Guess Who
The title of the highest earning Nigerian footballer has been a subject of debate between lovers of the game in Nigeria.

Owngoalnigeria.com bring to you the five top earning Nigerian players based abroad starting from number 5.

Owngoalnigeria.com relied on the players current earning to arrive at the top five, which is dominated by players from the English Premier League. However the top earning Nigerian player from our research is Obafemi Martins, who is reportedly on a tax free wage of £130,000 a week in China.

5. Odion Ighalo ( Watford, 45,000 a week)

4. Victor Moses ( Chelsea, £50,000 a week)

3. Mikel Obi (Chelsea, £80,000 a week)

2. Kelechi Iheanacho (Manchester City, 85,000 a week)

1. Obafemi Martins ( Shanghai Shenhua, £110,000 a week)

grin Bros, I no be Ijesha. I am a typical diehard naija boy. Let us just leave it at that.

Since it's based on merit and in form, Isaac Success deserves and worth the call up, I even prefer him to Ideye and Ighalo.

Isaac is a talented footie, always on point unlike Ighalo and Ideye that are always on and off

You wanna know why this issue is still being dragged on?

It's because of the Other half of The English media who praises anything Manchester Utd.. As man utd is more of a traditional club in England than Manchester City.

Let them continue to paint him different colors in order to look brighter, it can never take what Nacho got that he will use to continue to do better.

The conversion ratio is there for the world to see;
Marcus Rashford - 637 minutes, 7 goals.
Kelechi Iheanacho - 500 minutes, 11 goals.

we already know who's who. I'm a Manutd supporter but the truth must be said.
