I see no reason why the seller won't give you the password! You want to wipe the phone! Ok try lets see how lucky you may be ; heard of someone who wiped a Xiaomi mi max but refused to due to the password. Xiaomi is really mimicking apple, security in miui 8 is really matured.

I don't support wiping assistance. or else we will indirectly be Aiding and abetting thieves...at the expense of our treasured gadgets

op should return the phone or get the seller to unlock the phone.

In fairness to him,he gave me before but I was a little bit ignorant about the workings of the mi accout so he changed it and now am locked out. Totally my fault! Just I need solution cause he has refused to give me the new password. Don't you know how to wipe it

go back to him. you collected his password and refused to deactivate his account on your device...now you are interested in wiping the same phone!

I wish I knew better. I thought an account could only be register with a phone,so I was to change the password. I had not even changed the password. I didn't refuse,I didn't know I was to.

Bro to be frank, you cannot even wipe the phone even if you want to, just try and get to the guy. Its even possible the seller stole it from someone, that's what I have always thought.

I actually use spectranet so strong connection is not the issue... Someone said the issue is the Android version...

you don't have to root Redmi note 3 pro to get updates , check for updates with a strong wifi connection like spectranet , smile

oga.... everything sounds fishy about your story, I'm not saying you stole it o(but if) I can't imagine what the owner will be going through right now with the current prices of good phones in the market.

if it's a stolen phone + with the mi account active on it you'll be tracked if the owner knows what to do. so kindly return the phone to the seller for him to unlock it if he doesn't want to send you his password

if it's truly his phone he will unlock it for you.

and if stolen pls the phone should be returned to the rightful owner.

the phone is useless to you right now without the right password so don't waste your time about flashing it

Thanks for the info. I tried to do that but the device requested for my MI account details. Is it a necessity to open an MI account? Pardon my ignorance.

Yea you are right, you know many of us to like reading those plenty instructions when setting up a new phone, we just skip grin
But xiaomi really tried on this, I didn't see the importance of a mi account, just registered because I wanted to comment on mi forum. I later discovered that the mi account goes even more than I thought.

Where KuliMart come answer questions oooo grin
Anyway, let me tell you, notification is not even a highlight of the mi5, even far less ranking devices like redmi 3 and redmi note 2 which I currently use have that. You will surely love the mi5.
